Not to downplay the fun aspect of it at all - but I like remind folks that a lot of preparation and learning went into this before it could be demonstrated to camera so quickly. RUclips videos are the end product of hours of work. Once the camera shuts off there's still a full 8-10-whatever hour day getting this stuff ready and all the other deadlines and things that go along with working a job. I don't work in the same field, but in more traditional IT - and yes there are days where you get to play with the latest and greatest tech. But there are 95% of the other days where you're working hard, solving issues, staying late, working with people on their off day, etc. Not that work is bad at all if you enjoy it - I just like to remind folks that it is indeed still work :). I've seen a lot of younger people come in and get shocked by this fact.
Super cool to see this in more places, I just defended my phd on augmented reality for human-robot interaction, we have been seeing this for years (programming a robot in-situ using AR) and finally get to see it in action with “affordable” consumer iPads
This is outstanding! It's phenomenal how fast like AR and integration with cameras has come in the past several years. This is nearly to the point that many even mildly tech savvy people could pick this up in a couple hours and do so much with it!
Great video! The robot is awesome, also I appreciated you guys leaving that beautiful music track to properly finish at the end of the video. Nice touch, thanks!
this definitely a crucial and very helpful update. saves times, have more natural move, much easier to control with an ipad, and yeah, very impressive. keep it up and that s23 intro, very cool now knowing the behind the scenes
As iterative upgrades to tech become boring (see the literal joke they recorder for the intro) this channel has become one of my favorites. Showcasing a software update like this and the capabilities it will bring to your workflow is awesome. Love the variety of videos and chill nature of this channel. Keep up the great work team!
This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. If you guys and Motorized Precision teamed up and made a video with Apple about the power of LiDAR on iPad it would be so compelling because this is the coolest use of LiDAR I've seen yet
Your intro scenes has always been the highlight, but the s23 one was taking it few levels up. Glad to know the work going behind it. Now need to see how you can top the s23 intro in future.
With all the equipment and resources y'all have, you guys should become a mini production house creating commercials for tech companies. I used to work for a Creative Agency and we had like a fraction of the resources y'all have. Y'alls set up is incredible.
A lot of us already wrap up a day of working realizing we didn't have enough time in the day, we've got plenty of stuff on our own plates! (Which is way better than a commercial!)
if they advertise for certain companies, then their transparency and neutrality are gone. they are reporters and reviewers for end consumers so their neutrality should be maintained. once they accept to advertise they will always be known to shill for that company, so by advertising they are losing money instead.
Just wanted to give a shout out to Andrew for this video. Really cool to see his role in production and how he takes the lead on certain projects, as I feel like his role is much less specific than most of the rest of the Studio. Also we may all get used to seeing robot shots in everything now, not just MKBHD videos, because this time saving will result in huge money savings in the advertising and film agencies.
Very cool. Super interesting how shots like that are made. Love to see more videos like that, how you create your content. Love to learn how other pros doing it.
That was a really interesting video! - I'd love to see more of these breakdowns of your workflow and I'm excited to probably see more and more of these amazing robot shots! 😁👍 Thanks for all the good content on all your channels!✌
You can tell that the QR codes act as 3d space anchor points, especially in the last example shots. The camera appears to be locked specifically the front of the can rather than the can itself, I guess a slight adjustment to the can placement would rectify that. Super interesting, thanks for sharing!
Exactly! I did it really fast just to try and keep it under 5 minutes, but for other shots I basically scan the QR code, then adjust coordinates slightly until we nail it. But this process still makes those initial steps so much faster.
I had a lot of practice! When I first used it I kept going "I have to show this to someone", so I basically took every single person in the office and did a similar walk-through 😂
Dude... That was sick. This was low-key a stealthy dope tech video. I want to see this kind of software for a drone now. Maybe with an iphone instead for more movement flexibility? Like, if I could record a walk through an indoor space, smooth out all the key frames, and have multiple tags on different objects throughout said walk? You would essentially be able to do a long ass one take shot on wheels with multiple takes following the exact path so you could focus on the action in front of the lense. Geez... the possibilities where this can go. 👌🏿
One thing I have learned, with creating art, is time is money. This software update elevates the value add from Colossus because you're not spending an entire day on robot moves.
Love how careful and engaged Marques was for the intro shot.
He’s our one take wonder 🫡
@@BrandonHavard 😱😱 big fan Brandon 💯 thank you for always being awesome
@@piart8207 appreciate you ❤️ thank you for watching!
This looks so fun, man it would be epic to work there
I don’t even call it work, it’s a dream there

@@Daphoid this right here.
the attention to detail is amazing with this team.

The ability to see where the cameras will be moving before you let it rip is super duper helpful!!!!
That Apple Ladar camera coming into play.
Now that its made easier, I realise how difficult it was...
😅
I’m blown away by how much work goes into these shots!!
Love the chill vibes of this channel.
I had no idea how much work went in to what looks like a simple shot in the end product. I think I have a new appreciation for your craft!
Vinh and Branden treating Marquess like he’s made of money 😂😂
Vinh and Brandon, my favourite duo.
💙💙
they defo give off stoner vibes, but it's all good. 😎😎
2:39 marques's face is just perfection
The dollar signs are going off in his head... ka ching ka ching ka ching!!! :D
the iPad played table tennis... the camera is controlled by the iPad...
can the camera play table tennis?
make it happen
Smart af
Too expensive 😂
this channel is starting to be pretty fire. i love behind the scenes stuff especially on youtube.

at 2:37 while they listing stuff for Marques to buy 😂😂😂 That part is GOLD!
Marques: just takes a phone of the frame.
Studio: wow! you nailed it!! really well done!!!
Great video! The robot is awesome, also I appreciated you guys leaving that beautiful music track to properly finish at the end of the video. Nice touch, thanks!
I don't know anything about film or cameras or anything but these videos are absolutely fascinating to me. So cool to see these processes.
This is such an awesome channel! Watching some behind the scenes and learning about your workflows is very inspirational.

Thanks for the sweet review!
I love it, seeing more of the robot just gives me joy. Thanks guys for all the work you put in.
I would love to see a video where you guys show the Employee's at home tech/setups
We’re working on some stuff… kinda similar to that! Hang tight. 🤙🏼

One of my favorite videos y’all have ever done. Love the behind the scenes of the robot
The amount of work and creativity put in these videos 👌
I seriously hope you guys do these for all of the intros. SO SICK
at 11:37 Marques did that hand thing which I was 100% convinced I'm the only person on planet earth doing... fantastic

Dope to see how AR and AI are being implemented into film production and pre production!

If anyone asks me "what good is AR in the real world", I'm sending them this video. Excellent advancement and well executed by you guys!
My words exactly to vinh. This was the first time AR actually gave me the “oh shit” moment…
that's a cool technology.. and i can always rely on MKBHD or Studio videos to test a new TWS.. cool sound
Andrew's explanation is on point.
I had a lot of practice! When I first used it I kept going "I have to show this to someone", so I basically took every single person in the office and did a similar walk-through 😂
This is soooo innovative!!!!!!!! Literally software met hardware and brought innovation 💡
Incredible, I love this ❤️
People have no idea how much of an amazing this app is !!!!!!
Super interesting and engaging. Amazing video.
That is way cool! Looking forward to see many more of those shots in the vids, since you guys can make way more now 😃👍
You know what i love. The little details like the sign that says please turn off the camera 😂
That's soo cool, love behind the scenes for shots. Also would love to have a big robot arm myself!
iPad BABY! When it came out in 2010 it was a device I was waiting for decades.
I wish I could work in such an amazing environment! All to bells and whistles!
I’m curious what hand strap you guys are using on your iPad
I have absolutely no idea what any of these guys are doing, but hey, it's fun to watch and I have work to do. So I watch it and don't do work.
The contrast between my software development job and this office is striking. My job is just complete nonstop stress and anxiety.
I notice the iPhone with the blue checkmark.. Props!
I have no idea what they just did, but it looks super cool.
That coffee company is Denver based. My buddy works there and he showed me their old production warehouse.
that Galaxy s23 intro was *chef kiss
Thanks, friend!
Dope! Thank you for sharing it. ✌️
Love the video! But would really appreciate subtitles/CC (at least the option wasn’t available for mobile)
i guess youtube needs some time to generate them
You should do a video with all the video gear you use. (Bodies, Lenses…)
I spy a 100T hoodie!
Edit: okay i watched the video. Insane tech
that creasing on the left side of backdrop gives me creeps, but overall the idea is amazing
Nah this is amazing! As amazing as the robot already is, can imagine the time this will save
With this intro, I noticed the MKBHD logo almost resembles the shadow of the rectangular phone.
love to see the robot stuff!
There is a method to the madness! Love the attention to detail guys 😗

oh my god that's incredible
Very cool tech, where 3D integration overlay is very smartly used
2:37 the face says it all 😂

2:33 yeah Marques, you need an anamorphic lens
Glad someone’s on my side
“Hopefully trough editing this is funny”

Love this channel fr
Finally a real usage of iPad camera
Andrew is genius no doubt!
Now that's a whole new meaning for recording a video with an iPad 😅
Extraordinary. Thanks!
Does this mean videos will be posted more frequently?
It's funny how long a few seconds intro takes to get shot.
Makes me happy seeing that there’s an iPad that’s not just sitting there.
As someone who owns a robot arm and does similar work… I’m very jealous of this feature. I wanna come visit!
idk about you guys but id watch a comp of just all the robot arm shots that these guys have made??
Can we talk about Andrew ‘s biceps for a sec?! Daaaammmnn Matt D´Avella got some competition 😜
thanks for those insights
2:38, new profile pic for main channel incoming 😂😂 !!
I'm at 0:23 part of the video, but with what camera did you shoot this? Marques' skin looks more reddish/orangish than usual!
Dope video as always ! Does anyone know what model/brand is the ipad hand strap thingy ?
