Lot of the power comes from Mega Melee crossbow which lets archers do melee attacks because it lowers the min range for your attack from 2 to 1. It encourages close combat because it gives a bonus to damage but it falls off scaling up the farther you are from your target. Faycal just has skills that can take advantage of it, like hes still a watcher and archer def but he has infinite counters iirc, so mega melee crossbow lets him always counterattack except some skills that are out of his archer range.
Personally, alert build uses Irian Combat Bow. Longbow of Martyrs if Single Target build. Star-Raid Crossbow works too until 5* Faycal which is 100% crit rate. Melee Crossbow is situational.
@@azer.gamingStar Raid Crossbow is better all around if not running an alert build. He has terrible speed and hardly any way to make use of Martyr's himself. Star Raid also benefits Ult and Alert in some capacity

why your Auguste book can use to himself？
Mega Melee Crossbow reduces -1 range which makes Auguste Book able to target himself
