Mate the chip shop you reviewed in Luton was shite,but next door was where chicken George came from, They opened in 1985 and was the best chicken shop in the Uk 👍They won loads of awards for the shop in Luton 👍best Takeaway in the Uk ect ect ,There used to be ques outside the shop in Luton for the food it was the best, then shut the shop in Luton saying it wasn’t cost effective to refurb the shop and shut it ,Then opened this place in Hitchin and have one in Bedford too ,Turned them into a chicken shop /sports bar which is great 👍Their food is second to none ,but a lot of people in Luton are a little pissed that they shut the Luton shop down it was there roots , But they have moved on, the food is exceptional still , but don’t hear them winning anymore awards which is a shame Food review club done a review on the Luton shop in the early days of his vlogs worth a watch 👍👍
If I’m being honest, I think it’s gone down hill if you just fancy chicken and chips. I miss the ribs they used to do. You can definitely tell that they’re focusing more on burgers and wings which are banging. But I wish the chicken stayed the same
They well out grew that tiny shop. Couldn’t handle the demand. Half the time I went to Luton they wouldn’t even take my order. I’m glad the Hitchin spot opened. It’s a great location to take the kids for a sit down. Beer on tap. It’s not like Hitchin is a great distance from Luton. I’m a regular and I live in NW London

The hitchin one was good when it opened, but it’s ever since the Bedford one. The thing is, where they’ve expanded, they’ve bought in more people to do the cooking and prep to keep up with the demand. When it was just the owner and his mate cooking (who now does the football club chicken shack) the food was always top quality but they can’t be in 3 places at once for the hours they were open

What a difference to the fish & chips in Luton there’s no comparison. This is what they call fried chicken and it looked superb. Don’t think I’ve seen a chicken burger that size before and I was in stitches watching Danny trying to get his lips around it oozing juices everywhere. It’s got to be a 10 from Danny.

Danny if you like a bit of Greek food, you should visit a place called Lucky’s in Ipswich. They do a banging selection of Greek food, my personal favourite are the Chicken Gyros 🥰

Been wanting to try Cawsburger - I've heard good things. Takeaways have improved tremendously in Hitchin since we moved there (for six months) in 2000.
Chicken George is amazing, but has never been the same since Chris took over running the shops. Chicken George's glory days were when it was run by Ray and Sue(?) at its original location in Luton. There used to be queues every lunch and evening all the way down to the old petrol station/post office on the corner of Hitchin road.

Chicken George originated from Luton his dad used to own it I haven't lived in Luton in years and this was a great place to go back in the 90s and looks like it still is shame the son the new owner had to leave Luton after the pandemic but rumours are there coming back in some form

Hi Danny.....love the videos. I'm going to make a suggestion for a great place in Nottingham called Mollis. They do fantastic chicken sandwiches and fried chicken, including fried chicken skin that cannot be missed. It's not the cheapest place, probably because the owner (Next door) is a 1 star michelin restaurant called Alchemilia. Anyway, best of luck mate!
I absolutely hate these fast food places that claim everything is "award winning" as if it's some important well known award like a Michelin star, and not some random award that is given out for nothing.
