Uthermal, Harstem and Lowko are my three favorite sc2 content creators and i just love watching Uthermal cheese Harstem then coming over to Harstems channel and watch him wreck others with the very same build he got wrecked by and have nothing but nice things to say crediting Thermy with such a broken build. It helps understanding this build if you realize uThermal is a pro Terran player and this is basically playing your Zerg like it's a Terran instead. Hydra drops are basically like medivac dropping marines, but way stronger.
I think this originate from iA and silky's old build "rogafufuken" (yes, yamcha from dragon ball): two base ling flood, a fake attack on natural and a real drop into the main (back then drop can be researched by hatchery). That was a pure PvZ build which has caught so many protoss players out of guard, also resulted in the removal of hatchery droplord research :). And this evolving into a PvT (also PvZ maybe? lol) build with latest buffed hydra is a real nice touch by uthermal.
Harstem is the master of knowing the algorithm disfavors videos that have viewers end early so he wraps up the ending in 3 seconds flat before anyone can click off, and another video just autoplays right after.
I "love" how the end result of this is going to be Harstem going back to the balance council calling for a bug fix that nerfs Zerg, to wit the dropperlords not being f2-able.
The dropperlord is for zerg civilian logistics and should not be put into the army category. How will our drones go on vacation without their civilian aircraft??
bro I hate the build in the first game, I've died many times from it (as a toss), all the units are near the wall, I never think to check the main. Great to see it done first person
Dont know if UThermal mentioned it but that build also seems to transition quite quick and efficiently into mutas or just a handdffull to counter colossus/tanks
If you right-click a worker onto a mineral field, it can move through units. If you pay attention, you can see when people use that method to control their worker movement, when they start shifting into each other instead of moving like normal units.
You didn't steal his Zerg drop lol. You know Mark likes Terran but plays all races. He isn't great with Zerg, so he plays Zerg like Terran. He hates using Bannelings, lol. Wait till someone like Scarlett experiment with it
I mean, what's the ultimate lategame Zerg comp? A deployable siege unit, a glass cannon high dps infantry unit, and a snipey caster. That is: Play bug Terran.
cap, the dropperlords not moving might have been if they still had poop mode toggled. iirc having that on means they aren't included in f2 and that when they stop moving they'll immediately start pooping again
dang I been rushing 16 ling drops against T & P for a while. I play low Diamond NA and most just 2 base with a wall and rush BC/Carrier so I hit em with the drop early and it crushes. Another strat I revived from olden days is the roach army with banelings hidden in droplords. Marines never see it coming.
Would it be a viable protoss build to go stargate, allow opponent to just scout void rays (use for ovie hunting, "defense") so opponent doesn't build spores, but actually be building a proxy darkshrine?
BGMWSS IDEA! Base trade from behind! We all know Kevin likes to do BGMWSS to try and explore new ideas for his serious gameplay. While many players know how to basetrade decently, most players don't have builds designed for basetrades, nor do they usually execute basetrades effeciently. In this episode, the captain should be behind, and make a come back victory with his basetrade. It's an excellent way to practice while entertaining the masses. Cheers Captain, happy trading :)
Don't count Droperlords as armies @Harstem, thanks !!!! Fine as it is OR add a include/exclude from all army hotkey switch to all units !!!! Would be appreciated :D
So what is the actual build order? My ZvZ is my strongest matchup by far because it's the only matchup I have nailed down brain dead timings for any build (ling flood in this case). I need something to be aggressive with in the other 2 matchups.
I think that every build that involves lower eco and more/faster use of units will work better for you or Uthermal than Standard play but i dont think is going to translate for most Zerg mains. Trying to say that build like these just fit better ppl doing off-race.
phoenix early kill the droperlords and you can also suply block the zerg. also more phoenix counter less hydras with good micro. robo is only good if you manage to make phoenix colossus for some reason, or zerg makes roaches. but 2 bases zerg roach vs protoss 3 base anything looses most of the time, especially after investing in droperlords. the oracle killed less than the zerglings as oracles almost never become cost efficient killing workers. it is more of a utility unit. 4 phoenix harass/scout after the 1 phoenix killed a droperlord should just win. if you scout a roach warren, a second stargate with one additional phoenix for queen kill and then void rays. this is a zerg cheese, as with almost any zerg cheese, the thing is that they are more broken than pre nerf cannon rushes, but they are beatable with a really specific response that requires tons of knowledge and preparation, which is why it feels unfair. but nobody cares because the top zergs and dark usually have to go macro against terran.
You know it's authentic UThermal when there's no creep spread
lmao true
He's following his build to a T.
That's so funny to say
😂 that backstory behind the build is gold haha

15:55 NO NO NO NO Dont you dare
You can do it on 1 gas btw. Instead of going into Hydras you can make a ton of drones and a 3rd while they are dealing with the drop.
For the first ling drop, would breaking 6 off to block the path to the ramp net you some more probe kills?

strong against the immortal. "ya no crap" LMAO
I think you could've done some hot pick up micro with the hydra vs roach fight, it's not often you have both hydras and speed dropperlords!

Even if you didn't name uthermal in the title, I think a lot of us would have known who you played against!
I ling dropped twice on protoss and it worked very well each time (helps to get the +1 melee attack by the the time the drop happens)
If you have +1 by the time your drop hits you did the build completely wrong and hit way too late.
