    I think you missed the main reason he was so successful with takedowns. It's the pummeling in the clinch to get his opponents moving that setup his takedowns. Great video on the technical aspects of his takedowns.

      Pummeling is a huge part of the clinch for sure. Thanks for the support 🙏🙏🙏

    Randy used to shoot double legs loads even though he didn't learn this in greco roman

      Could be wrong but I'm assuming he wrestled folkstyle at least in high school, probably college, and possibly youth

      sonny nice videos and you are a beast in the ring too. respect! I would like to fight/ spar you if you are in Melbourne :) im 87 kg (10% fat) 5'10 blue belt bjj and 3 years thai boxing.
      anyway back to the video, randys clinch is nasty especially the single collar ties with uppercuts. good variation to standard muay thai techniques.
      that inside leg trip from over/under or double underhooks is khabib-esque too ey.
      keep up the G work- aussie MMA ftw

  • @abcdef-kx2qt
    @abcdef-kx2qt 3 года назад +4

    HELLO EVERYONE .
    Many of these throws { no hands on legs } are used in real muay thai fights .
    however there is a preponderance of leg grabbers whom refuse to accept & learn these moves.

    • @almalayuwiyyah2512
      @almalayuwiyyah2512 3 года назад +2

      Because he is from Greco Roman wrestling background. Greco Roman live by the clinch takedown and throws. Leg takedown is only from freestyle wrestling. Greco Roman wrestling is really good for stand up striking. It work well with Muay Thai clinch and dirty boxing. Couture probably the best clinch fighter ever. He combine Muay Thai clinch. He knees you on the clinch then use dirty boxing. Then throw and takedown you from clinch position. That upper strength of Greco Roman wrestler and upper posture make it good to transition into boxing. It give you more punching power. Also if someone use judo combine with Greco wrestlingvon the clinch also will be great. Since judo association banned leg attack of freestyle wrestler. Judo now is actually Greco Roman with gi. It great to combine Greco with judo.

    I'm a huge fan of Bas Rutten and Randy Couture. I think Couture would edge Bas in a fight because Bas didn't really have takedown defence . Grappling wise i'd say they're equal

    My oppinion is that Randy couture ,s fighting style based on wresling is not edficent in the heavy weight division also becose he is more a light heavyweight
    and that is why he did not had a realy succesfull career in ufc. It would be interesting to see a realy heavyweight wresler in hulk hogan style fighting in ufc using wresling techniques.

    • @hms9891

    Is the “blocked knee” takedown from the over under body lock position a “polish throw”?

    • @michiel5160
      @michiel5160 12 дней назад

      No, a double knee drop. At least shown in the tutorial clip. In the cage clips it turned out a little bit different.

    Yo Sonny! Why did Randy prefer the clinch later in his career? We saw Khabib make this transition too.

      Probably because they got more comfortable striking with people so they didn't need to change elevation.
