    I can't believe I am just seeing this! I love idea of nonchalantly articulating "easy" class III paddling lines & delivery play-by-play commentary while paddling.
    You pretty much nailed everything and hope you make more of these.

    Thx so much for posting for taking the time to make and post this video. My husband's idea of guiding me down the rivers is to say don't follow me, I am taking the hard lines. So I figured I better spend sometime figuring out the rapids and how to navigate them.

    Good video! This is one of the best rivers in the East! Once mastered, you will have many, many hours of the best times of your life! I do recommend picking an experienced boater and friend who will pay attention to you and lead you down your first couple of times. One comment on Entrance, I spent years eddy hopping down the right side - basically a sneak, imo.

    Most fun we've had at Swimmers was on a Sunday. After 12pm it cleared out and had Swimmers all to ourselves : )

    What sort of kayak would you recommend for this? I was looking to get my first one, and I'm willing to put down around $800 on it. Once I've got some practice on it I'd like to finally go down the Lower for the first time.

      Any Whitewater kayak is good on this river. I prefer to take a playboat or slicy boat. The boat in this video is the category you might call a “half slice”; it’s a Jackson Antix. Jackson just released a major update to that model, so you should be able to find a pretty good deal on a used one of the first generation. It’s a more challenging boat than a lot of what beginners tend to try, but it will help you learn quickly. A lot of people recommend that a beginner start with what’s called a creek boat; these are larger whitewater kayaks that are easier to paddle in some ways and more forgiving, but my opinion is that starting with a Creek boat will not really optimize your learning curve. Today I would say that for your budget and if paddling this river is your goal a Jackson Antix would be a great choice, I would also consider a liquid logic remix or Braaap, a Dagger Axiom, or maybe a Pyranha Burn. I better move though is to borrow a couple different boats before you decide which one you wanna buy. There are probably Whitewater clubs in your area. If you’re near this river, check out three Rivers paddling club (TRPC) on Facebook.

    Do you have a recommendation for a beginner course in Ohiopyle?

    • @whosready5935
      @whosready5935  5 лет назад +1

      I do not have a specific recommendation for a group class offered just in Ohiopyle, but there is an individual instructor that I recommend. I'd have to get his consent to publish his contact information here but if you send me a private message or email (app@whosready.app) I can pass your information along and have him contact you.

    where is the video with lines from the day before this video?

    • @whosready5935
      @whosready5935  5 лет назад +1

      This is an edit of videos from two days... the lines are the same every day but some days I paddle better than other days 😂. Were you looking for something that happened that day?

    • @patsywalker9378
      @patsywalker9378 5 лет назад

      No, you just reference other lines you did the day before in the other video, so I wondered where it was. Good video. Thanks! A video at other water levels would be fun to see too.

    • @whosready5935
      @whosready5935  5 лет назад +1

      @@patsywalker9378 yeah, I guess I forgot about that commentary. When I was recording I wasn't sure how I would be editing it - I'd considered showing multiple options for each rapid, but since the single-run video already worked out to almost half an hour, I didn't want to make it any longer. The lines I portrayed here are the best lines for a beginner at summer levels.
      Later this summer I will be posting a 360/VR video of the same lines, giving you the option to pause and look around at any point in the rapids for an even better view.
