  • The Muay Thai hook punch is different than the Boxing hook punch, and this difference can mean success or failure in a fight or spar. Check this video out for technical details that aren’t often covered, as well as explanations on how these details give you an advantage or disadvantage in certain situations. I also cover the influence of these styles in the hook punch seen in Kickboxing. Lots of gold in this one! Don’t blink.

      Yesss that’s what we like to hear! These were literally all of the questions I used to ask, and I’ve spent so much of my life researching this stuff to only get part of the story 😂 so glad my experience is paying off. I hope to solve more problems like this! You ever have questions, I’m your guy
      Hopefully it does blow up, we’ll see 💪 in the meantime anything you do (likes/shares/even this comment) will help it spread to more eyes, so thank you 🙏

      That "tall hook" thrown around 45 degrees angle was exactly what I was taught with back in 2012 in Kaewsamrit gym when Anuwat and Bovi were there, but with really bad English. Please kee up!

      @@shawnn2990ah, very cool glad you have had similar training experiences. I loveee training in Thailand, but they’re not (in my experience) big on explaining in detail. Sometimes you’ve gotta nerd out a bit an focus on/communicate those little things you know? The little “why”s are what always help me to remember

    In my Muay Thai training the left hook is often a “get their guard nice and high” set-up for a big body kick. It’s not a meaningless shot, but it serves a greater purpose than itself and isn’t intended to do big damage

    • @skyhookschool
      @skyhookschool  5 месяцев назад +1

      Not a bad way to do it! Bas Rutten had a lot of success with what you’re talking about, left hook distraction with a heavy liver kick underneath. Love it. I’ve also got a fighter buddy that is good at doubling up (head/body) to open up the liver punch, or will even go body/head to get that guard high and will sneak in a close-range spinning back kick to the liver. Anything that sets up a heavy body shot, I’m a fan 💪

    I completely agree on how this channel deserves more audience. I usually watch Gabriel Varga's content everyday but I stumbled upon yours today, and I legit thought this content right here is as good as his. I guess you can make the video pacing a little bit faster in editing to cut the gaps between talking (with all due respect, purely my opinion only from watching various youtube contents and being a video editor myself), but the materials you bring are absolute top notch! Learnt a lot from 1 video, subscribed instantly, keep it up Coach!

      Also, I appreciate the tips. I’m attempting to get a little better with each video so feedback like this is what I need to grow 💪 if you ever have any ideas for content, questions, etc. please let me know and I’ll be happy to help!

    if you want shoulders problem you can choose muay thai hook

  • @user-eb2kv7bg4t
    @user-eb2kv7bg4t 8 месяцев назад +1

    A good muay thai coach would never teach you to throw the left hook while standing on tiptoe with both feet, balance in muay thai is the most important thing. the muay thai hook and the boxing hook are different but your " muay thai hook " is not a real muay thai hook.
    for example some real differences between the boxing and thai hook are
    1-boxers like to exaggerate the pivot of the front foot, while Thais prefer it to be more subtle, so they don't end up in a position where they can't come back quickly to block a kick,
    2- in muay thai we prefer to plant the front foot and use rear foot pivot for the hook or step with the hook, stepping and punching is super important in muay thai.
    3, the hand position. In muay thai we prefer palm down or even out and in boxing they prefer thumb up.
