Met him 47 years ago at CBC Toronto. Was on the TV show Reach for Top and we were lucky enough to be the Toronto champions. He was a very capable, confident, talented and classy guy and made kids who were not used to the red light of the camera so at home. I remember him on Music Hop and all the other TV he did in Canada. Grew up in a home where CBC Radio was the norm and remember him from his various jobs including sitting in for Gerussi on the national morning radio program. That short stint on TV did a lot for the confidence of a shy kid. Glad he came this way. Thoughts to his family. RIP.

For us it was on at 7 30 after Wheel of Fortune. I used to watch it with my dad when I was a baby, and I loved running around the house all damn day singing the Think song. My mom even sang it to get me to sleep. The thing that gets me is, he wasn't afraid to die. He had an amazing life, and made peace with the fact that the cancer was terminal but he came into our living rooms every night for 36 years as the host of Jeopardy! and that was enough for all of us. So that's wonderful that he wasn't scared. And yes, he is up there now with God, no more suffering, and probably playing host to all the angels!

Jeopardy was one of the shows I watched often as a kid. This show inspired me to learn more and become more curious. A couple of months ago, I graduated with a Bachelors and Masters in Mechanical Engineering. I know I wouldn't be at this point without this show. Thank you Alex Trebek for inspiring me to go deeper into knowledge!

To the 1 person who disliked this, I am speechless. Out of the 99.99% here that are true fans of Jeopardy!, you are the 0.01% that shouldn't be here. Alex Trebek; A great man that suffered in pain right to the end while still doing what he loved.
Minus the pain he endured, that is how the short time that we have in life should be enjoyed.

As a teacher of English and social studies, I love this game because it stimulates the memory. However, I always admired Alex Trebek, because I saw him as a smart, friendly, kind-hearted, classy, humorous, encouraging, ingenious, but not a pompous, man. I was always glad to hear his words and his humor and encouragement with the contestants. It will be hard to find any game show's host or hostess who would surpass the wonderful personality of such a brilliant man who never made his errant-answering contestants feel stupid. He was an encouraging man with a friendly smile and a love of knowledge, and all of us who enjoyed his work really do miss him. Best wishes to the network in finding another permanent host. This show and its wonderful host Alex have both been so encouraging and challenging to watch, especially as we have aged. The challenge of recall is very stimulating to our brains!

My grandparents and my dad are Italian immigrants, and, particularly my grandma and my dad, don't speak or understand English very well. But every night, we would watch Jeopardy together. You would think that a show whose sole purpose is to ask and stump contestants with difficult questions would stop a non-English speaking family from watching the show, but I honestly believe we watched it because of our fellow Canuck and gentleman, Alex Trebek. Every night that I watch it with my grandma now, she brings up how it is so sad that he is gone or how amazing it was that he said he was going to fight and continue hosting until the end. We love you and miss you Alex. My 86 year old Nonna too.
