    I received mine last week. In tune and low action straight out of the box and excellent finish. Mines pink and I got the matching pedal. When its linked tp the app properly (scan the QR code on the back of the Headstock) it works faultlessly. I watched loads of reviews before purchasing and yours is the only one in which the reviewer couldnt get the functions to work (and most of the reviewers showed how to access all of the functions). They'd made sure they knew how it worked before criticising an excellent guitar technology because of their own failings. ThecSmart Knob (its actually called Super Knob) has so much more functionality than you discovered. Im only posting this in case your inability to get it to function properly discourages anyone from trying it for themselves. Incidentally, I'm 65 and have owned over 100 guitars - the Mooer GTRS S800 is an awesome piece of kit - and its now priced around £350 in UK.

    Still think it’s a great idea, and has much potential. Many things that use apps have bugs, and in time are worked out via updates. Even if you can’t manipulate the presets, you can still make your own rigs. I’ve never had a multi effects pedal yet that I didn’t dislike most the presets on, and always just end up creating my own rigs. So I don’t see this as a major problem. For what the guitar does, I am very impressed, and it might not be something everyone would like, but I like it, and will definitely get one!

    I would really like a guitar like that minus the Smart features. Love the colour. The effects sound like one of those old 100.00 DigiTech pedals.
    Seems like it would be really hard to get the looper to loop without that gap. How do you start and stop it while playing? A pedal you tap your foot.

    • @thebaldshredder
      @thebaldshredder  2 года назад +1

      You have to hit start or stop on your phone. Yeah the built in effects are not a selling point for me.

    Great unbiased review. I was wondering if it was the best thing since sliced bread or a 5 minute wonder. I also started to ponder who made the guitar as the tech seemed to come first. I'm not knocking it, but some have said that the app is glitchy. I still like analogue pedals and tube amps, but I can see that these guitars have their place, but the price point seems a little high, the quality of the guitar looks great, but a better contour and neck block area would be welcomed.
    I keep blowing hot and cold over these🤔🤔😕😕

    Hahaha wow, pretty cool idea but seems impractical to me somehow. One of my first ever attempts at a guitar mod when I was MUCH younger was taking a DOD grunge pedal out of the casing, and putting it into a guitar that used to have an active EMG, I put a stock Jackson humbucker in it and used the battery compartment to power the internal pedal I shoved in it. I drilled pickguard holes and could adjust the pedal and then a reallllly ugly switch that turned it on and off. It worked
    but it was so silly lol. I should've kept it and patented it I guess

    Couple of things: The whole thing sounded awfully crunchy to me. Did it sound that way to you? Just wondering if it sounds different on this side of youtube than as you heard it yourself in the room with it. Secondly, when you were playing the "Pop Clean" sound. Was that something I should know or were you just noodling? Because that sounded really cool. Also going through all the sounds, as I said before, they all sound rather crunchy and kind of the same. Again wondering if that's just from hearing it through youtube or if they really all sound the same. I mean, if you like that crunchy sound, it seems great, but doesn't seem to vary much. Great review.

    • @thebaldshredder
      @thebaldshredder  2 года назад

      Yes it was overly crunchy, but the one preset I did "Rock Adc" had less distortion. There are others with less gain. And I'm sure I could adjust them to make it sound better, but I couldn't figure it out. I was just improvising the clean stuff.

      it's not meant to be plugged into a guitar amp.. it will be awfull that way, even if you plug a high end multi effects and a high end guitar.
      within the app, you got a amp + cab simulator meant to be plugged directly to a headphone or to your monitor.. or an frfr speaker.

    My GTRS S800 arrives in a few days. I’ll let you know if this grandad can work out how to use it well.
    Buying an electric guitar and pedals costs around the same as my AU$1,000 GTRS and then my floor would be covered with more pedals than on my bicycles.

    First I would like to say that I like your enthusiasm, thanks for that and sorry you did not succeed in making that guitar work. But ... I am 100% in the opposite position than yours ... I don't know if you finally figured out how to use the app but I have to bring a different view on this guitar, the app works fine, is easy to use (really !) and offers fantastic fitures with that modelling option, such as the possibility to chose your amp from tens of options, your cabinet as well from tens of options, and 5 to o6 different effects (from the 126 pedals effects offered !) that you can chain simultaneously and activate with the very cheap bluetooth footswitch (less than 70€) they sell also on the same color than the guitar you chose ... but as well it is integrating Drum paterns !! AND a looper !!! What else ??? . I am 58 years old, I have over 30 guitars, tens of amps (valve and modelling) and pedals and multi-effects ... I am a young / old geek 😃... I have bought one of the first modelling guitar over 20 years ago, the Variax, and had fun with it. It was a basic sounds settings changes that was (trying) simulating different kind of guitars, Strat, Gibson, etc ... That GTRS Pro 800 (the more expensive version of the one you've tested but with the exact same modelling fitures) is a killer guitar. Yes it is ... First, as a guitar (without using the modelling functionality), what they propose is the equivalent (and even better) of a Schecter Johnson, a Fender US Standard, a PRS SE, a Godin Session HT, a G&L Legacy USA, a Sterling by Music Man Cutlass CT50HSS (I have all these guitars and love them all) and for either an equivalent price, either a much cheaper price (the G&L costed me almost 2k€, the Godin almost 1,2k€ and the Fender USA Standard, 1,4k€) they are offering : American alder body, Locking tuners, Roasted flamed maple neck, Rosewood fretboard, hum-free pickups, Wilkinson VS 50 II tremolo bridge, 22 Stainless steel medium frets, chrome hardware and .... on top of that, what none of all the other guitar brands are offering which is a fantastic and fun modelling capability ... something that should kill the "beginners" guitar/amp/pedal/effects market as with only that guitar and an amp (or no amp if you use an headphone or some studio speakers) you don"t need anything else for the next 5 to 10 years of your guitar learning curve, I teach guitar, that's the guitar I will recommend for sure ... Honestly, the pedals and amps simulation are quite good for the price and I can bet, that on a blind test, with setting it up properly, the vast majority of people won't hear the difference with a true amp and with using true pedals ... I am as enthusiastic as you are 😃but with the opposite position. I would highly recommend anyone who's hesitating to go and test, for a couple of hours, that GTRS Pro/standard version ... I am a huge fan ! 😃 Finally something new in that very old and boring guitar world ... the strat, the telecaster and the gibson and all the other brands that are copying these three "grandmothers" are almost 70 years old !!! Keyboards have made their revolution already 40 years ago integrating thousands of modelling sounds, it's time for the guitar market to enter in the XXIst century 😄😃and budget wize ... for less than a thousand (with the standard version) box ... you don't need to change anything for the next 5 to 10 years ... if ... if ... if it will be possible to replace the battery that probably will die at some point ... only flaw I can see 😉

    A couple of observations...First, if you are having problems getting the app to work the way you want it to?? There's no way in Hell I would ever be able to make it work. (I'm not one that lives with a Friggin' Cell Phone attached like it's a body part. "If" my cell phone is on??? Something has gone really wrong...as in I'm broken down on the side of the road.) I'm wondering if they designed this app for those using top of the line cell phones, and I refuse to own an I-phone or spend more on any phone than the cost of a Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus!!! I am definitely one that would like this guitar "without" all the built-in effects. It has some really great attributes. But, since the odds of me using the effects are basically non-existent, like you, at this time, I cannot see me buying this guitar. I reserve the right to change my mind at a later time should additional information become available. Thank you for an honest and unbiased demo, review, and video on this guitar. Please keep them coming!!

    • @lostreb
      @lostreb 2 года назад +1

      @@thebaldshredder I don't think it's your phone. I also didn't mean to blame your choice in phones. I was actually directing the comment to the app designers that, from my biased experience, seem to only tend to cater to the High End Cell Phone users with zero consideration for those like me that don't live and breathe thinking a cell phone is a body part, and, I "think" there are more people out here that are not like them than they can even fathom. I think the "app designers" should actually design for "entry level cell phones" instead of high end cell phones because not "everyone" lives in "their cell phone dependent world! "This" is from someone that was a computer programmer for 26 years, and in my retirement I've had already lived with more than enough with having to live keeping up with the "cutting edge" technology than I want to spend the rest of my life playing "catch-up." It's just kind of a pet-peeve of mine. Thank you for tolerating it.
