Hands down the best backing track ive ever used. I love how you incorporated the scales into the video, it helped SO MUCH with improving. Love it. Thanks again!
I’m so happy I started learning the shapes of these different modes!!!! This back tracking with the scales included ❤️. I’m gonna start making this guitar sing. Pretty happy over here. Thanks
D harmonic minor sounds best over this track, emphasis on the a Phrygian dominant once it goes back to the beat. Using d minor pentatonic and d minor blues in between certain areas also sounds mint
Big thanks for this! This is an excellent backing track for my D minor handpan drum! I've had good luck with guitar backing tracks. Metal drums are very difficult to find good backing tracks for, especially if they're in another key, the drum can sound really off-key. Banging on metal objects also tends to cut through the sounds of other instruments but this track has enough weight to be heard over other sounds. Thumbs up! I'll be using this backing track again!
this is really great quality and I was totally digging it - until the ad came in in the middle. perhaps not the fault of the uploader, but backing tracks like this need ads limited to before or after the video or as a separate pop up - not something that has a chance to interrupt the video. was really vibing with it! no worries, continued on after the ad, just wanted to give my 2 cents
i just did a video Dminor improv and thought of this same thing ! awesome ! if you want to check it out here it is have a good one ! ruclips.net/video/a8wv4eLpitE/видео.html
Really nice track! Not sure if you care, but D minor is normally written with one flat (a Bb), so the chord is normally called Bb, rather than A# as in the description. Written with sharps the key signature would have eleven sharps would be called some crazy like C## minor.

You would want to call that second chord Bflat instead of Asharp in this context, since D minor is the relative minor of F major. And there is also a Bflat in the next chord (G minor), so it's helpful also to think of that Bflat as a common tone.
Loving using the modes .. i never done that before ...oh the flavours aeolian at 12 position then as the chord progression builds towards the end jump back into the minor pentatonic haha im gary moore now!
Great track. Thanks. I really like the style and clarity. I think it would make more sense to label the A#Maj as a BbMaj, to identify it clearly as the VI of D Minor. Thanks.
I'm really reading that A-sharp chord as B-flat instead, which is a perfectly normal chord in D minor. You really have to go through some non-Euclidean twists to get to A-sharp from D minor....... :)
The scale diagram is the best addition to any of these kinds of jamming track videos. And ypure tue first ive come across to do it. Any chance you'll be doing the other modes with visual aides as well? Subbed!
Thanks. I was first inspired to do it by my fellow Now You Shred. He has some great tracks you have to check his channel out. I already have some modes backing tracks, just visit my channel and you will easily find them.
A very musical and enjoyable track to play over. Your chord changes should be Dm BbMaj7 Gm7 A7 though. The A# chord is enharmonic but incorrect. I hope you don’t mind the suggestion. Thanks for creating the track.
The track is great, but you really should learn theory IF you are going to give people advice/instruction. (It is not necessarily a prerequisite when making/producing music). There is no A# in D minor, it is the B note that becomes Bb flat. This is NOT a simple detail, things get far more confusing when you try build chords in that manner, because you can not simply have an A natural and A sharp at the same time:) So, the chords used actually are Dm Bb Gm A.
I totally agree. I am self taught and I thought this could be a useful video visually. Then I came to understand the difference between a raised second and a flat 3rd. I make sure to fix that in new videos. Thanks for taking the time to give me your advise.
@@chusssMusic WOW... I have witnessed a critique and no explosion but rather logical and well taken... on you tube.... I salute you good sir. Tolga also makes a good point Thank you both for encouraging discussion,. the world needs more of you
@@chusssMusic Hi. It is a valid point as conceded by your good self. A little humility can certainly increase learning. The scale you would use over the A chord would be a D Harmonic minor as opposed to the Natural minor (Aolean). That simply means playing the 7th interval sharp. In other words playing a C sharp instead of the C. A has a C sharp in it whereas A minor has the C. The Harmonic minor can work well on the other chords as well as long as they do not have a C in them. Hope that helps. Great tracks. Keep them coming.
This is amazing, I've been playing to this for weeks. Question: If D Minor has the same notes as F Major, why A is a Major chord here and not Minor being the 3rd of the F major scale?
You are right, but it is a common approach to change the 5th chord to major instead of minor, Then you can play the harmonic minor scale instead of natural minor. It gives the progression a different taste rather than plain sad/minor sound.
You can play all the notes shown in the diagrams anytime. Highlighted in green only shows you one position to play the scale. However, the best approach is to play the notes that are included in each chord of the progression.

Nice
D should be marked as minor in the chord sequence.
In fact the full should be
Dmin - Bb - Gmin - A
I've just noticed it sounds like Anytime by MSG
Bb is the same as the sound with A# but in theory, in the C minor scale "B" should exist.
100% B is the 6th of D major, in case of D minor it has to be lowered a half step along with the 3rd and 7th so it becomes Bb.
