I remember the old man that built the original, state in a video while sitting in the seat of his creation, hanging from the wing, that None of the critical welds were in tension......When you weld aluminum, the heat affected zone returns to Zero temper, meaning it has a tension value around 8,000 psi vs 40,000 of T3 or T6 temper....
.ruclips.net/video/uaUe8uT-CtM/видео.html,,, around (07:35 ), other than that, the aeroplane is very well thought out.....

What kind of welding certification does it take to do this aircraft work?
I'm not a welder, just interested..

There is no certification that I know of. There is how however certain FAA guidelines to follow for certified aircraft and will also need to be inspected by an A&P or someone else certified to do so. Our ultralights require no certification or inspections.

1776vtgmb this is an Ultralight, as such it is not subject to ANY TYPE of inspection. Anyone can do this work!
