These guys deserve a lot more goddamn subs and views. They ain't no fancy hikers. Really enjoyable! Don't sound like they're up there own arse. Normal dudes going for a day out on a trail walk. Great content!
Well done guys. I did the same path about 25 years ago. And as I recall I looked similarly knackered when coming back down. Really enjoyed the video. Thank you.
Cracking video boys. I was lucky enough to be part of a 5 man 1 dog team, that completed the West Highland Way in the last week of May 23. We submitted Ben on 31st of May. I've watched so many videos of summits after, everytime putting myself back on an amazing trip. Solo camping all the way. Loved the pointing at the snow, 'say no more'. What a play ground it was. We stayed at the summit for the sun downer. Looking forward to watching your other videos. Cheers. Well done. 🏴.... p.s. we eat quite well here in 🏴😂
I done it this August Bank Holiday. It was good that you was honest and said how tough it is.Most people don't mention it.Really enjoyed this video god bless you both.top blokes.
Thanks to the lads here for giving a very down to earth, real assessment of going up Ben Nevis. I did it with my 14 Yr old son (54 meself) in the aftermath of Storm Betty, so....the weather was pure Bum 2/3 up and 3/4 down. However, I remembered the calm comments from the guys and kept it going. Physically, it was fine but weather wise...pffff. Great assessment up and down for preparation. Thanks!
A very good account of a route my wife and I did 40years ago. A little busier than when we did it. Loved the banter it made the account of your adventure both interesting and funny. Well done guys
Thought long and hard about posting because its a fantastic video and great for mr/mrs average planning to go. Think I first climbed 35 years ago. I think the waterfall shortcut was THE route, but erosion had scarred it, even making it dangerous. It was closed off and signs erected both ends explaining the reason why. Its very possible the signs were vandalised when you were up. They seem to only last a year or two. Not you're fault and especially viewed from the Red Burn ( halfway) look a very sensible short cut. But please don't Happier note, aye you can safely drink the water from the red burn, just check no ones having a piddle 20 feet above! I wish you could have done it 10 years ago, that sturdy wooden bridge was a very basic, shaky pre fabricated aluminium effort, used to frighten the life out my wife. Thanks guys for a great video Hope you come back, Maybe do Carn Mor Dearg route? I think the banter would be Fantastic!
Hi Sean - thanks for watching! I think that shortcut certainly looked a lot shorter than it felt. Great to hear some insight into the mountains past - and I can imagine that a rickety old metal bridge probably would have freaked me out too haha. Thanks for watching and really glad that that you enjoyed the video. We hope to get back to Scotland before too long, maybe spend three or four days up there next time and not be so rushed.
Yes, the Carn Mor Dearg ridge would have been an interesting excursion. The Pony Track is aptly named but I suppose this team has made the first step towards all the 8000 metre peaks. Well done, youth!
Great video guys, I just watched it with my mum as we are climbing Ben next week and this has given us a great insight in what to expect. Keep the content coming, 😉👍.
Cool. Really glad that the video has helped you get a glimpse of your forthcoming conquest. I hope that you both enjoy the climb and that the weather stays kind. Good luck to you both.
Cracking vid chaps . Went up from opposite side many moons ago in cloud . As we ascended the cloud did - ran out of water about an hour from the summit, but go to the top at 7 pm - cloudiness sky and the entire place to ourselves - epic !!! When I got to that first water coming out of the rock face I must have drank Gallons 😃 - keep it up 👍
For me a brilliant video of the climb up ben nevis, I've got my climb planned in May this year 2022 and although excited pretty nervous, having done climbs and wild camps on the likes of hallin fell, Hellvellyn, etc this is daunting, so cheers lads appreciated 👍
Come to Ireland and do Carauntoohill,Co.Kerry...5hrs up n down approx..up the devils ladder is a good challenge🇮🇪....Ben Nevis is high it's on the cards for me👍good job
Great video! Thanks for sharing :) I'm hoping to do Ben Nevis in the next 6 months or so, watching these videos is keeping me motivated to lose this weight and do these climbs!
Good luck - its a hard old push but amazing if teh wetaher is clear. I definitely found that coastal walking helped to get my stamina up for the mountains, if you are able to reach the coast, I highly recommend training there.. Thanks for watching!
13 minutes in. Sod what anyone else might think. As you say you do it for your own reasons and nobody can take that away from you. Great channel by the way.
What a view ❤ That'd be me in the helicopter 😏. Well done lads! As a youth i did a few peaks in the Lake District but never Ben Nevis, or any in Scotland. One day...
Well done lads. Hiked it before & got just passed the lakes then the fam wanted to turn back so I didn't summit on that occasion. Thinking of doing it again to go all the way up this time with the fam but riddled with osteoarthritis I know it will be a hard slog for me to complete and may not even summit.
I did this 30 years ago mere boy of 21 totally unfit. Completely unprepared and was on my hands and knees near the summit. No-one can take away the fact I did it though....this has brought back memories. Good work!
Well Done Lads...Merry Christmas to you both.. I've booked to do this July 2020 for charity..You both inspired me to give it a go..Also subbed to your channel 👍🏼😎🎅
Thats great to hear - love it when we elp to encourage others to get out and do this kind of thing - hard work but you will not regret it! Good luck and thanks for watching and subscribing!
Walked this route four time's in memory of my Son Darren raising money for Cancer Focus with a walking club called the Trassey Treekers from N.I ..!!! Some great memories..
A hiker who would down play this avid or not, isn't someone worth listening to, I've done mountains in the USA and done snowdon but not Ben Nevis yet and you gave me a hunger to get my boots pounding again. Thanks for the awesome vid!
No trees and throngs of people must make peeing a challenge on your outings, lol. You guys have really upped your game with the videography. Very enjoyable!
This should be a Public Information Film about climbing Ben Nevis - anyone thinking about it should see this. People really underestimate Ben Nevis. It is a proper mountain - shown by the snow still on the ground when you were there. I think the most dangerous thing is the nickname "flip-flop route" yeah if you are a serious mountaineer it probably is but for most people it's not.
Thanks very much. Haven't managed to get back up a mountain this year yet, bit got some more on the cards so stay tuned. I'm the meantime, there's plenty of hiking and wild camping videos for you to catch up on. Enjoy!
for perspective we drove 2500 miles from boston to Montana one summer.Went for a hike in the grand tetons, we parked the car at 10,000 feet and started from there.30 minutes later it went from warm late summers day to 6 inches of snow squall. We turned around and ran into hail stones as big as golf balls.I came to the US from Manchester UK and found the west to be overwhelming to the point I just turned it off.I would much prefer to hike around kinder scout and Cheshire than the American west.At the end of my garden is 130 miles of the wildest thick forests swamp and countless rivers that is pure madness to venture into, in winter they can do it on snowmobiles but there are no hiking trails.I'd take the English countryside any day.I live a hundred miles north of montreal.Right now its zero F outside. 2 feet of snow expected , winter advisory in effect. And I ask myself what the hell am I doing here. oh well.
Wow... That is some wilderness on your doorstep. I must say that even our drive from Cornwall to Scotland is small potatoes to some journeys around the world and your example just goes to show. Still, you are right, it's absolutely stunning over here and there are so many accessible hiking trails that I am sure I will be very busy for a long time to come. Thanks for watching!
The tourist route is rather easy however, it's only a grade 3 hike, which is lower than most munro's, if you want a real challenge, hike Ben Nevis via the CMD Arete
Yea, I'm not so confident on ridges yet, so seeing how it was a 12 hour drive, I was just glad to get up and down successfully. I'm hoping to start looking at some more advanced hikes as I get a little more experienced.
Absolutely fantastic video guys. It really shows off our Scottish mountains to their best, their beauty & what fun they can be. I do have one negative comment though, PLEASE change your channel name.. it is dangerous!!!!.. I'm not actually being flippant I'm serious... It is not summit or nothing but listen to the weather that keeps you alive. EVERY winter we get people who have driven 400miles to get to the hills with the summit or bust attitude and are not going to let the weather stop them (university climbing clubs tend to be the most macho and worst). EVERY year less go home than arrive (but we want you to keep coming back). There are times when the weather makes it necessary to say "not today Josephine" & that isn't any slur on your masculinity. On the Cairngorms & Ben Nevis you can basically basically navigate from "a guy died there last year and over there a few years before". Summit or nothing against the Scottish weather isn't a winner in the long term.
Hi Ian - I agree with your sentiment, but if anyone is familiar with our channel they will know that we are not risk takers like that - we are not here to promote blazing up the mountains for a bit of a laugh - and I don't think that any of that you mention who are doing so have been encouraged to do so by us! I am that cautious that I have so far avoided any ridge routes up these mountains. The title is just literally a play on words, and is what singles us apart from other "Outdoors" channels, so we won't be changing it! In our videos, a Nothing is when we have had sence enough to turn back, which is something that we are not afraid to do when the weather or conditions are against us. But thank you for watching and really glad that you enjoyed the video.
Love these guys. Brings back memories when I started walking up hills. The fun, the learning from mistakes, good times with friends. Keep it up guys, cant wait to see where you go next!
Yea.... I'm not sure about the CMD route myself. I have to get a few ridges under my belt to get some confidence....I'm not a real climber. Let me know if you do it and how you get on.
CMD is the best non rock climbing route up the Ben. You’ll love it and it’s not difficult ( harder than the pony track as you lose quite a lot of height but not technical)
Amazing! Well done to you! To be honest, this was the easiest mountain so far but I had clocked up miles on the coast path. Found it harder going down this one!
Nice to see the full Ben video.... Just a note on McDonald's.. It is a great relief for constipation. I do believe that the young lady at the top could sense the Summit of Nothing greatness. Excellent work as always guys...!
Hahaha... do you think she could?!.. lol. And you could be right about maccy ds. We opted dor brewers fayre in the end anyway. I couldnt quite stomach a big mac. Thanks for watching again Max!
Wait till that guy that injured him self gets the chopper bill had he known he would have ran down but that’s a no joke job serious stuff those people are bad ass
I'm not sure they will get charged - I think you can get fined if you have put yourself and others at unintentional risk - but pretty sure that for most the emergency services are charity funded!
I'm so glad you liked our wee bit Ben....you are more than welcome to come and try more of our Bens....we have lots......Scotland is full of them all with their own personalities....you can wild camp or stay in a bothy.....never a dull moment.....Try the channel Scotland's Mountains for a flavour of what can be experienced ttps://ruclips.net/video/B4yhay4uCVw/видео.html
Hoping to tick 'Uncle Ben' off the list later in the year Trev, how much water did you guys take/use & what about duration from start to finish including stops? 🏔
I can't quite remember how much water we took, to be honest. Probably a couple of litres each, although we often take less and a water filter... it took us 7 and a half hours to get up and down, including stops. Hopefully this info helps and good luck with your own trip!
Summit Or Nothing As always Trev, thanks for responding 👊🏻Very helpful as it does seem daunting but with some prep & supplies, should be do-able. Did the Jurassic coast walk & loved it. Lovely part of the world. Hope to see some more Summit or Nothing adventures soon!
When Nath was staring at the Coast Guard helicopter, was he thinking glad I'm not the bloke getting plucked off the mountain, or was he thinking, if only I joined Coast Guard instead of the army, I get all the girls?
The comment about folk not being dressed or equipped, unreal, I was up in the Brecon Beacons a while back and was amazed the amount of people in t shirts and shorts, no backpacks etc and with kids.
I know, its bizarre isn't it. People don't seem to know what they are getting into when they head up these mountains. You can tell that just by looking at some of the comments on Trip Adviser.... so many idiots out there.
sub from me just because of the "eat meat comment" plus you guys are ok in my book. when your up for it try the CMD arete route. gets you away from the flip-flops and crocs.
These guys deserve a lot more goddamn subs and views. They ain't no fancy hikers. Really enjoyable! Don't sound like they're up there own arse. Normal dudes going for a day out on a trail walk. Great content!
Thanks very much - really appreciate your support!
Thanks for the memories chaps. It was '92 when I went up & you made it seem like yesterday.
Well done guys. I did the same path about 25 years ago. And as I recall I looked similarly knackered when coming back down. Really enjoyed the video. Thank you.
Yea - it was harder to come down than go up this one - cheers for watching!

We’ve just got back from walking the Rangers path on Snowdon many thanks for your videos!
Great stuff. Hope you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!
What a view ❤ That'd be me in the helicopter 😏. Well done lads! As a youth i did a few peaks in the Lake District but never Ben Nevis, or any in Scotland. One day...
Yeah, its a biggun, but keep plodding with one foot in front of the other and plenty of rests and you soon get there. Thanks for watching!
I did it on Friday 28degC and not a cloud in the sky.. very lucky but it’s hard graft! Fort William good for a few beers after as well 👍
Well done lads.
Hiked it before & got just passed the lakes then the fam wanted to turn back so I didn't summit on that occasion. Thinking of doing it again to go all the way up this time with the fam but riddled with osteoarthritis I know it will be a hard slog for me to complete and may not even summit.
Ah that's a shame, Kevin. I can only imagine how hard that must be to attempt, and how torn you must be. Thanks for watching, and all the best!
I did this 30 years ago mere boy of 21 totally unfit. Completely unprepared and was on my hands and knees near the summit. No-one can take away the fact I did it though....this has brought back memories. Good work!
Thanks for watching - its a great mountain to have conquered! Well done!

A great video.
great video guys, is it all rubble up there or is there a spot or two to pitch a tent?
You hear of people pitching tents up there but it seemd mostly rock to us. Thanks for watching, Steve!
Well I did this 2 days ago and it broke me. Great vid and thanks for keeping it real. That was exhausting
Yes its a beast of a climb, Lee, but great to have done it. Well done mate. And thanks for watching!
Walked this route four time's in memory of my Son Darren raising money for Cancer Focus with a walking club called the Trassey Treekers from N.I ..!!! Some great memories..

It does a bit yea. We snuck off track and ducked behind the rocks just after the summit haha. Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it!

Someday I hope to hike-a-bike up Ben, and bike down.
Happens a lot... try to go at a time of the day so you won't be smashing tourists.
I promise I will. Any suggestions?
Sounds fun. Good luck!
Hi guys I'm walking up the Ben in June with a few of the lads for charity.Im wandering what sort of footwear I need for the trek in the summer?
Well, I'd say a lightweight hiking boot would be preferable, good luck with it! Its a looong slog but worth every step!
Cheers, thanks.
Did you really set off at 5pm?
Nah - it was late morning by the time we set off, I think. We were titting about lol
If you ever fancy an overnight summit bivvy via the CMD Arête give me a shout!
Ok, mate will do cheers!
Hey, I've climb big Ben twice, but fancy climbing together via the more rewarding CMD route next years....?
TheBrokenBMW i have climbed it 40 times i live in Dundee Scotland I’m a true climber you on did it twice wow
Yea.... I'm not sure about the CMD route myself. I have to get a few ridges under my belt to get some confidence....I'm not a real climber. Let me know if you do it and how you get on.
@@xsniperwolf9457 Come on bud. It's not a competition... Each to their own eh. For all you know he may live in Oz.
CMD is the best non rock climbing route up the Ben. You’ll love it and it’s not difficult ( harder than the pony track as you lose quite a lot of height but not technical)
You have to do the 4 peaks in Ireland 🇮🇪
Yeah, that's on my list. Thanks for watching!
I filled up my bottle straight from the spring lol. Shouldn’t need to boil it.
What was that joke about going to Wales and Scotland I didn't get it. Can someone explain?
Great job! You two crack me up. Brilliant video, really enjoyed it 👍🏼
Thanks Lee. Was a great hike this one. Make sure you sub for more adventures and thanks for watching! ATB!
how much fluid did you guys carried for each?
I think about 1 and a half litres.
@@SummitOrNothing thanks buddy.

@@SummitOrNothing She saw the greatness in your eyes. She was sorry for trying to steal your thunder, I'll tell you, yes siree.

Quality Good Stuff
Cheers Mark! Thanks for watching!!
Who says repeats (well sort of) aren't good? Well this was. Cheers guys.
Nice :)
You are so on the money, it's for you. Not anybody else.
Here! Here!

Thanks....if you check out that channel you will get an idea of where you would like to start.....
Only started watching you guys recently, but really enjoying the vids and banter. Good to see you complete the three peaks. Good stuff
Mountain rescue/coast guard dont get enough credit for the lives they save
You're quite right!
Just checked that was 4 hours not 2 blimey
Haha! I was in awe.... still impressive though!
thank you for sharing....
Thanks for watching!
That’s up and down
Wowsers!
Great video Well done Guys. I took my wife up in 2008, NEVER again had to keep telling her to stop getting too close to the edges.
I know what you mean. One thing I can't stand more than peering over heights is other people peering over at heights lol. Thanks for watching!
Yesterday I spent three hours by my wife's graveside, the AMD Arete route.
Of course she doesn't know this yet.
2 hours 45 minutes for me.
Wow!
When Nath was staring at the Coast Guard helicopter, was he thinking glad I'm not the bloke getting plucked off the mountain, or was he thinking, if only I joined Coast Guard instead of the army, I get all the girls?
Hahaha - probably a bit of both there George!
Nice one boys 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Cheers Mark !!Thanks for watching bud!
Congratulations but anybody smoke a j up there pmsl
Running ..... It's for wankers 😂😂
One thumbs down?
Always 😂😂
sub from me just because of the "eat meat comment" plus you guys are ok in my book. when your up for it try the CMD arete route. gets you away from the flip-flops and crocs.
Only just seen this comment. Take it this is where we got you on board! Cheers!!
