Very much like with Star Wars, a huge component of the Street Fighter 2 success has got to be attributed to its soundtrack. To put it mildly, it is a masterpiece for the ages.
Way better then the SNES. This soundtrack is the best of all Street Fighter soundtracks, it's hard to pick a favourite tune, I think these days perhaps my favourite is Balrog/M.Bison. Weak tracks are probably M.Bison/Vega and Sagat's stage. It's not that the tracks are bad or anything, it just feels like the tunes are only about 10-20 seconds long and just keep repeating way too much. Presumably at the time they might not have had as much development time and had to rush the final few tunes. I dunno. Does kinda feel like they could have panned out those tunes a bit better.
Yup. Same! Back in the day, ported versions from the arcade straight-to-console wasn’t able to be completely like the arcade. That wasn’t possible till like the Dreamcast or PS2!

Yesterday (Friday, July 15th, 2022) was the 30th anniversary of when Street Fighter II: The World Warrior was released for Super Nintendo in North American countries, including the United States of America. How time flies! My childhood playing this magnificent game at the arcade and at the SNES!❤️
Oh, my God! This quality exists! I thought I was going crazy since every SF2 OST on RUclips sounds terrible and I thought to myself "I SWEAR the soundtrack sounded better than this!"
The start of the 90s heralded for me Super Mario World, this game, Super metroid and Super castlevania 4, 4 of the most gaming experiences I've ever had
All low health tracks deserve more love. Without them I don't think we'd remember street fighter so fondly. Kinda sad that the Alpha series never had near K.O. themes. The new games near K.O. themes are prettt weak tho and are stage related, shame.
I've had the player select screen music struck in my head all week thanks to this. Do you have a patreon where i could them at a higher bitrate? Keep it up. Oh if you are doing requests (or just want to hear one of the best scores on the SNES that barely anyone talks about), id love the U.N. Squadron OST, regardless, thank you for all your work!
@@carlosleyva-calistenia6400 I looked it up, and I had no idea the composer of SFII later worked on the Mario&Luigi games! Thank you so much for this info!
There ain't no way in Ryu's crouch kick spam to hadoken's destructive capabilities, another video game would be able to have soundtracks as catchy and as perfect as Street Fighter 2 arcade soundtracks. And also how you were able to make the soundtrack smoother and better.
Why the excessive bitrate mastering? Also I'm pretty sure MAME would give you clearer sounds as its interpolation bitrate can easily be increased for smoother sound.
Question - are any of the synths slightly out of tune on this soundtrack, or is it the instrument distorting and sounding off to me only? Example - Ken’s stage theme, the part of the melody that you would most likely whistle - it sounds wrong to me. Note - I love this game and it’s soundtrack immensely. I bought the Switch anniversary collection and listened to various tracks via the in-game player. I felt the SFII songs were not as I recalled from the arcade machine. SNES trumpets always sounded off, just not the board. Is my internal tuner just broken?
Is it me or this does this original sound better than the Q sound version of the soundtrack that came w/ssf2 and later? I feel like q sound took away some of the "oomf" both in the music and the sound effects
Nope, you're not alone in that. Everything from the effects to the music sounded tame in the SSF2 versions. Still like Q Sound but the SF2 versions for me was the one.

One of the best soundtracks in the history of video games! Street Fighter II's OST is a timeless masterpiece that has withstood the test of time.
All thanks to our wonderful Yoko Shimimura!
Yes indeed. She has talent.
I like the arcade music better than even the Super Nintendo music. Arcade also has better sound effects.
I had the Super Nintendo version and think the soundtrack is crap. Arcade all the way for any game.
I love the arcade version music.

Ryu, Guile, Blanka and Dhalsim stage soundtracks were personal favourites. On the New challengers, Dhalsim's soundtrack is amazing.
One of the best video game soundtracks of all time. It's just legendary!
Unbelievably great work. That 8khz ringing in Blanka's stage is very pronounced, but seems to be a part of the original samples.
Oh, my God! This quality exists! I thought I was going crazy since every SF2 OST on RUclips sounds terrible and I thought to myself "I SWEAR the soundtrack sounded better than this!"
Let’s be real, Guile’s stage music is not just the best in the game but one of the best video game music pieces of all time.
Balrog stage too
Guile's is my fav, but Blanka's and Ryu's can also hold their own.
not even close, but good
Balrog, very closely followed by Guile. And then Ryu. For the ages!!!

hate fighting Vega and sagat as a kid 😂
Same but I liked the Vega background cause Im half Spaniard so It was so cool to see a Spanish Fighter! 🇪🇦🙌😍
This is quite impressive sounding quality. Thank you very much!
One thing, Ryu's theme on the arcade on Street Fighter 2 (1991) and other SF2 expansions reminds me of a Japanese Soap Opera intro.
The first time I played Street Fighter II was in a Food Lion in my town of about 6,500 people. They had the machine almost on release date
Line your quarters up on the screen 😆

The staff roll music fits perfectly for any fighting games, what am I even saying, in EVERY videogame staff roll soundtracks.
A minha preferida do Arcade é a música do Balrog las vegas.
Stellar work, sounds amazing!
I have no idea why low health Zangief's theme is the highest played track on this video by an insane margin, but I respect it.
All low health tracks deserve more love. Without them I don't think we'd remember street fighter so fondly. Kinda sad that the Alpha series never had near K.O. themes. The new games near K.O. themes are prettt weak tho and are stage related, shame.

This is a fighting game, but it still has much better music than most adventure and RPG games have today.
Funny thing, Yoko Shinomura (one of the composers) went to make much of the best RPG music ever made.
