    I stored the dehydrated cheese two different ways. The first way is shredded, so that I can rehydrate the cheese and use it on things like tacos, or melted in quesadillas. The second way is the cheese powder, which I used to make a cheese sauce and really delicious mac and cheese.

    In the paint section, one can buy TSP which is excellent to remove oils from laundry or dishwashing. Two home products are bean water, or the best of all, pasta water. Salted pasta water will make your dishes squeaky clean and take all oils out of laundry.

    I discovered that in the store bought shedded cheese it contains powdered cellulose ( ground up wood pulp) it prevents clumping when they package it.

  • @michaelmcteer9472
    @michaelmcteer9472 Месяц назад

    Thanks for the info. Just wondering for purposes of difference. Supposedly store bought shredded cheese contains anti-caking chemicals that keep the cheese from sticking together. But this also causes the cheese not to melt properly as with block cheese. Think this would make any difference or perhaps the chemical is removed during the drying process?

  • @mkor572

    Great information, i think theres less fat in the shredded cheese now they have also added ingredients in the shredded. Thats a different rabbit hole.

    I have a question: would muslin fabric work just as well as the flour sack fabric?

    • @StockingMyPantry
      @StockingMyPantry  Год назад +1

      Hi Claudia, great question! I would think so, though I haven't tried it so can't say for sure. To be honest, I don't sew and don't know my fabrics well, but I think the fabric would be similar, so I'd give it a shot!

    • @jessicagaige7952
      @jessicagaige7952 Год назад +3

      Muslin would definitely work, since it's 100% cotton just like a flour sack towel. I know it sounds weird, but you can get very high quality organic muslin towels from a cloth diaper company. My favorite is Green Mountain Diapers. Of course, you can get them plenty of other places, that's just one that I know and love. Muslin works great for so many things!

    Sprinkle dried cheese on any recipe that calls for cheese or add to storage foods that need the oomph only cheese can provide. Powdered cheese has a long shelf life of 10-15 years.
