Lei Feng was not widely known until after his death. In 1963, Lei Feng's Diary was first presented to the public by Lin Biao in the first of many "Learn from Lei Feng" campaigns. The diary was full of accounts of Lei's admiration for Mao Zedong, his selfless deeds, and his desire to foment revolutionary spirit. Famously, he pledged that his only ambition was "to be a rustless screw" in the revolutionary cause. Chinese leaders have praised Lei Feng as the personification of altruism. Leaders who have written about Lei Feng include Deng Xiaoping, Zhou Enlai, and Jiang Zemin. His cultural importance is still reproduced and reinforced by the media and cultural apparatus of the Chinese state. Unlike other governments' creation of celebrity soldier campaigns, the Lei Feng campaigns are based around his upstanding spirit and good virtues as a citizen, and not just achievements in battle. Although Chinese interest in Lei Feng and his life has declined since the Mao era, his story continues to be referenced in popular culture.

The spirit of Lei Feng is not revolution, but obedience.

    所有这些悲伤的人,为不该哭的事情哭,比如简单的贬义。雷锋从不让那影响到他。

@@user-xb6eq5ds8x they meant "meiyou gongchangdang", the opening lyrics to the famous Chinese Communist Song "without the Communist Party, there'd be no new China". "Meiyou gongchangdang" would just mean "without the Communist Party"
The two sings were performed in one video famously by black Maoist Brother Hao

China is no doubt the embodiment of strength and competence. But regardless of that, please preserve the distinctiveness and the culture of my hometown Hong Kong by not making it a communist city without basic human rights.

And how well is capitalism working for you? Average rent for a one bedroom apartment is apparently about $2280 a month, while the average rent in the Mainland is only about $300 - $500 a month
