Some guitars get so much history on them that they simply need a bit of a clean up. Nice work. The typical used marks that give the instrument its character are all still there.
This was Bill’s first foray into guitar production. He had collaborated with some companies in the past to make guitars (Framus being one that comes to mind). This venture eventually failed but he would return to guitar manufacturing under the Wilde brand name.
I like the channel very much. It's very satisfying to watch you working on the guitars 🎸. I have one question that is intriguing me : where do you find all these guitars that are always covered in stickers and writings and strange paint job...??? Because it's repeating itself a lot in your videos. I'm not accusing you of anything- I'd love to know the answer. Thank you in advance.
FACT: Bill Lawrence pickups were SO good that he only needed one single coil pickup to do the job in HIS guitars! (which up to this video I never knew he made!)
It was news to me as well. Great job on the overhaul. Going through the BLs online, the "average" price of his guitars rounds out to $850.00. Not bad at all. Great video.
Things I would like to see you doing in your next videos: - A full fretwork (fret filing, crowning and polishing) - I'll love to see you restoring your MESA speaker cabinet
I commend you for using the correct size screwdriver for each screw on this restore. I have seen many other videos where the person working uses the same screwdriver for any screw. It ruins the screw heads. I always stop the video when I see that reckless behavior. Good job!
Moridaira Co., Ltd used be a Distributor of Bill Lawrence pickups in Japan since 80's Few years later, They got a license of making "Bill Lawrence guitars"(Of Course for Japanese market only) This one is a signature model of Japanese famous guitarist. And according to their HP, they have still a license of "Bill Lawrence guitars". ruclips.net/video/JMk8hfclT_Y/видео.html
I must admit, I preferred the style of the old, scuffed guitar. Although I understand that this is a restoration, it's a bit of a shame to see a guitar that has been through so much lose all the marks of time and use. There's a certain charm and character that comes with wear and tear, and it's part of what makes each instrument unique and special. Nevertheless, the craftsmanship in this restoration is impressive, and it's great to see this guitar brought back to life!
Except he kept the normal wear and tear. Even when finished the guitar clearly has scratches, scuffs and dings on it. He just removed all the juvenile crap the last owner put all over it, gave it a good clean and removed some corrosion from the metal parts. He reused every part. It’s the definition of a “sympathetic” restoration.
It’s not been through that much… it was a present for a spoiled teenager… No young person who’s bought a guitar with money from a job they didn’t like doing writes a bunch of stuff in a foreign language on it…it has some ware from falling over in a small Japanese bedroom, but it looks like the acceptable wear that you would find on a 20 year old instrument. The guitar looks much better now… anyone can use it… not just people in a contrived pop faux punk group…the type of people that think clumsy, lazy wear and tear represents ideas, “character” and that they more “special” than other people…
There's something to the look of the single unangled bridge pickup that's quite visually appealing. Really if there's any pickup that needs to be angled on a Fender it's the neck pickup. I rearranged a pickguard on a strat I got like that with a straight bridge and middle pickup and an angled neck away from the bass strings. It's the most balanced strat I've ever played; no wolf-tone on the neck and no piercing high end at the bridge, perfection👌
Another wonderful job on your part, sir! I can't get over what makes some people want to deface their instruments like that. 別の素晴らしい仕事、先生!一部の人々がそのような楽器を汚したいと思うものを乗り越えることはできません。
Hello Friend, nice restoration as usual and also discovering some brands of guitars is very enjoyable. This Strat type guitar has a tremendous sound despite its single pickup ! Well done Man, see you next video...
If it's a low budget guitar with that much damage, I'll always repaint it. If it's a rarer, or higher end guitar or bass, I'll just restore the paint. I love this channel!!!
When I see something like this, I remember working my butt off all summer, and well into the fall to buy a red Fender Mustang dated July 1965. It was 9 years old and I was 14. I took meticulous care of that guitar because I had worked so hard for it. When I see this, my first thought is that it was given to whoever it was that did this to it, or he stole it. That which is too easily obtained is often too lightly esteemed. The other possibility is that he spent more time with the glass pipe than with the guitar.
An excellent restoration, as usual Sir! @19:22, You soldered a lug and grounded the single-coil pickup to the pickup cavity's shielding paint. Can I ask why you chose to do so, instead of (typically) grounding the pickup to the guitar's tremolo "claw"?
Nice clean up.. If you’d wanted to clean up the neck plate or any of the black parts. You could’ve buffed the neck plate and taken the pits out and re blackened them with “ Gun Blue” . Just some extra info. that I thought that you’d like to know.
Not a bad sounding guitar 🎸 with just a single coil pickup in the bridge position.. I normally see a humbucker in the bridge position but it still rocks..Great cleanup by the way..👍😁🤘🎤🎶🎵
Can't lie, i actually liked and preferred the writing, it actually gave the axe some personality, like its been through and seen some shit. I definitely would of upgraded hardware and electrics but left the body and pickguard.
The instrument hasn’t “seen any shit”..a spoiled Japanese teenager probably received the guitar as a present from his parents.. he wrote a bunch of gobeldegook on it in English thinking that the west is cool and punk, when in reality it’s woke, conformist and broken.. This guitar sat in a bedroom looking western and faux rebellious …maybe it was use in a shit Greenday type pop punk band that played in comfortable venues a short distance from campus…Maybe two Japanese women with childish brightly coloured hair were in the audience… The girls weren’t attractive and no one from the band had sex with them… The hardware on this instrument is perfectly acceptable…
Beautiful! A request??? When you show us a bottle (Kanji, Hiragana or Katakana) and no English on the label... could you put an English label on the screen so we know what you are using? Not a big problem if you can't. Thank You and Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Graffiti was never “cool”, just vandalism that bad taste, shit people like..The words written crudely on the guitar were decoration on a item someone owned..Graffiti is when an egotistic selfish person write childish ugly stuff on property that doesn’t belong to them.. That said, that decoration wasn’t “cool” just some Japanese kid writing English words he doesn’t understand.. thinking the west is “cool” unfortunately it’s woke and shit..

Some guitars get so much history on them that they simply need a bit of a clean up. Nice work. The typical used marks that give the instrument its character are all still there.
Bill Lawrence made really great and affordable stuff for working musicians back in the 70s & 80s, but never knew he made a complete guitar
This was Bill’s first foray into guitar production. He had collaborated with some companies in the past to make guitars (Framus being one that comes to mind). This venture eventually failed but he would return to guitar manufacturing under the Wilde brand name.

Nice minimalistic guitar, it sounds great. I really like your unorthodox demo.
I knew Bill Lawrence was known for his amazing sounding pickups. I didn't know he built guitars too. Very nice, good Sir!

My understanding is that he Did Not. But was unable to have his name taken off these Guitars.
This was bot the same Bill Lawrence of pickup fame.
8:17 my favourite part in these videos, frets gleaming and beautiful👍

I'm catching up on all your videos and look forward to watching this one. I particularly enjoyed the Guyatone guitar with the katana headstock.
I commend you for using the correct size screwdriver for each screw on this restore. I have seen many other videos where the person working uses the same screwdriver for any screw. It ruins the screw heads. I always stop the video when I see that reckless behavior. Good job!
I didn't know that Bill Lawrence ever built whole guitars. His pickups are legendary - that should be a fine sounding guitar.
They sold them in Japan. I don’t think it’s built by Bill himself, but he probably licensed his name.
This particolar model was called Essential
Absolutely. I had a strat with a dual rail humbucker from Bill way back in the early eighties. Best sound ever!
@@GYYYO Thanks for the info!

Always a treat when you post a new video. You do excellent work, thank you for sharing it with us!

シングル1発、1Volの清いシャケモデル、キャビティはどうなっているのかずっと気になってたのでスッキリしました。
You are incredible. That body and pickguard looked trashed but you made them look brand new again. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Beautiful finish color hidden by all the Marker writings revealed.
Great job. The guitar is like new .The master's hands are gold.🤩👍

That was: when a cheap guitar meets a dirty, irresponsible owner.
Nice work rescuing the guitar!

Lots of potential for mods as well
A Bill Lawerence! I only ever heard of these guitars. I’ve never actually seen one. Yes folks, these are that rare.
If they're that rare...then why are there tons of them for sale on Ebay right now, lol. 🤔
@@HouseOfWoe I must have been thinking of the Wilde brand he produced. These look really similar.
Great job. Everyone: the springs should be straight. When you angle them like that the middle one does nothing.
