The main character "Doc" was fond of Gregorian chant, Bach, and Byrd, and one of the guys in my barrack's bought a recording of Byrd's Mass for Five Voice. Sixty years later I still remember being blissfully awakened from a nap by the vvery simirly sounding of the Kyria fom this mass. It has been one of my favorite pi. eces of music ever since
Wonderful. The best version I've heard. But what really drew me in was the church. St Cyprian's, Clarence Gate - Comper's materpiece, of 1903, but bringing to life in the fullest sense the experience of a 15th-century church. If you're in London this is a must see.
