So beautiful and so painful!
Josquin Des Prez would be elated at this performance by such a talented, wonderful group from the UK.
Hail, holy Queen (mother) of mercy:
Hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope!
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve:
To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping, in this vale of tears.
Turn then, most blessed advocate, thine eyes of mercy upon us:
And after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!
Stunning music! Beautiful voices especially the tenors, and really hot guys there!
On my free time i allways watch this nice

Belíssimo!!!
Magnificent.
Superb performance!
Sublime.
Relajarse, cerrar los ojos y dejarse llevar por la música.
This piece is in so many ways extraordinary! As a side note: it uses the original text "regina misericordiae", which was later theologically corrected into ""regina, MATER misericordiae", which is quite a different meaning.
You could’ve added the translation…
First one “Queen of mercy”, second one “Queen, mother of mercy”
@@carlapr97 Yes, sorry. And I should have explained why the second version is a theological correction: "mother of mercy" (mercy = Jesus) shifts the actor, i.e., who grants mercy, from Mary to Christ. But these theological discussions from long ago should not distract us from enjoying this georgous music.
Nope. I dont think it's a correction, maybe a completion or whatever. She is also Queen of Mercy as still in many prayers, the name of a religiuos congregation
"Missionary Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Mercy"...and both titles can be used and are correct.
She can be called Queen of Mercy, Our Lady of Mercy, Mother of Mercy...
"With St. Bernard the Church has repeated the prayer to Mary as the Queen of Mercy" (Bishop Fulton J. Sheen)
“O Mary, can you refuse to help any who are the subjects of your mercy? Since
you are the Queen of Mercy, I am the first of your subjects.” (St. Bonaventure)
"Because Mary is ready to help us in our weakness, the Church calls her, “Mother of Mercy.” She pours out mercy because “Queen signifies compassion towards the needy” (St. Albert the Great). Kings must do works of mercy but, they must also punish the guilty. Mary is not a Queen of Justice, who punishes the guilty. She is a Queen of Mercy, intent on pardoning sinners. “The Kingdom of God was divided into justice and mercy. The Lord reserved justice for himself and yielded the mercy to Mary. He ordered that all mercy would pass through her hands”. (John Gersen). St. Thomas confirms this, “When the Blessed Virgin brought forth the Eternal Word, she obtained half of the Kingdom of God. She is Queen of Mercy. Jesus is King of Justice.” (Saint Alphonsus Maria de Liguori)
And yes, I agree this piece is extraordinary.
God bless you!
Thanks all of you. The original comment and the replies have been very enlightening.
Magnificent ❤
Nicely rhetorical at ad te clamamus
Such well-balanced voices and a perfect intonation .... but why the ensemble needs to rush through this suberb composed piece of music ? There is no conductor ...
I feel no rush here. You may be used to a more ponderous performance, but I think the speed is just right. And they don't need a conductor. They can see each other and are in perfect accord.
So beautiful and so painful!
