This is the best and clearest video I've seen of this performance. Awesome band and no other marching band can do the 4-Way Cross this well, if at all.
Best true marching band ever! Daughter met her husband there and they both graduated from A&M! Now my grandson is in his freshman year there. I am so proud 💜💜💜
I was always impressed with the precision of the Fighting Aggie Band. I've wondered how the 4-way crossover was accomplished. This video gave a good view of that, including the mishap that occurred with the saxophone player in the middle that could have wrecked much of the drill. The group recovered, but you can sure bet his band mates gave him a hard time. I can vouch that a one-step pass through has potential for clanging bells of trombones, baritones and tubas, along with the occasional smashed lip.
What a great maneuver by the Aggie Band! However, the video would've been much more awe-inspiring if the videographer had kept the camera zoomed out so the entire field could be seen. It's nice to see the drum major keeping time in the middle of the field but we missed out on seeing the excellent precision of the marchers.
There are probably 10+ videos out there of the wide shot. Why make yet another? Very few if any like this where you can actually see the cadets individually.
Other than the Texas Aggie Band....name any other university band who could successfully preform the "4 Way Cross." Anyone?? Any?? That's what I thought. Gig'em Aggies!!
As someone who is attending texas a&m next year and did marching band my entire high school year, this is extremely intricate. I also notice the one senior girl who lost her hat lol
Love the marching style of the Aggie band as it was I marched as a junior high and high school student. It is true marching. Have to say I saw the mistake in this cross but am amazed it does not happen more often. Great job Aggie band - sic'em Bears!
@@jenniferwatkins2284 If you watch this video from a different angle carefully, you can see the second trumpet player in the middle column (walking towards the camera) bend over and pick it up and rest it on his left shoulder. ruclips.net/video/8777iLPbR9s/видео.html
I’m attending A&M in the fall and plan to join the Corps and join the TFAB. These drills are awesome I’m just curious how often do you wear your Class A Uniforms?
I can't answer officially, but from watching the videos, it appears they only wear them in the late fall when it's cooler. They definitely wear them for this last home game of the season and also for the game at which the entire corps comes out onto the field to form the block T, as well as for any bowl appearances.
I wonder if this is it, the video of the great saxaphone-catastrophe where an instrument and cover were left on the deck after the.band ran off. Edit: It is!* I recalled incorrectly. Looks like only a cover hit the deck. Poor kid, looks like it was a zip that it happened to, no less. My buddies and I lost our minds when we saw what was on the field. I hope that kid can laugh it off now. I know it would still be bothering me if it happened to me, but it didn't, so I can tell you, if you're reading this: it's no big deal. Great job, BQs. Sincerely, a CT.
You are not incorrect. This is it! A sax was snagged on a trumpet player's cord in the cross. They pulled on each other until the sax broke off the player's harness. The sax was dragged about 10' outside of the cross before it slipped off the stretched-out cord. The sax was immediately picked up by another trumpet player behind him and he put it under his arm and continued to march and play. About 2 minutes later he set the sax down on the 22-yard hash mark during a counter march. It is hard to see because he laid it right on the white mark. The cover was not left on the field, it was picked up by a drummer near the end of the march and the sax was picked up by a bandsman as he ran off the field. You can see both those events near the end of the video. You can see the snag if you watch in slow motion. Thanks for the observation and comment.
Agh! I see. Casual observations give me casual results, I shall be more careful before throwing open my mouth in the future! Thank you for the correction and the breakdown. Also, thank you for uploading these videos! Greatly appreciated!
@@nerdherd1819 We have seen other non-public videos of the snag and the aftermath plus we have a daughter who got hit in the knee with the sax as she passed through the cross and knows the zip who lost her cover and the sax player. It's hard to piece together from one video. We had no idea what happened in real-time. We are happy that this video has so many views and that people appreciate what all of you do to be the keepers of the spirit. We look forward to posting more videos next season. Thank you.

@@howdyfilms349 Yes. And you can actually see the poor sax player having his instrument jerked out of his hands. In another video, you can see a trumpet player picking up the saxophone and continue to carry it for the rest of the performance. Kudos to him! 🙂
Actually after my dickish post I thought a little, and the delay from the speed of sound from the center of the field to the worst nosebleed seats, is just shy of half a second (150 meters, compared to 343 meters per second) which smashes right into the middle of this song's beat. So yes, yes he is supposed to be out of sync at this distance!
In the late 60's when I was in the University of Tennessee band, the show was filmed on a 16 mm sound camera located way up high in the press box. We would watch the show our next practice morning in the band room and the sound was so far behind the visual marching on the field it was actually funny to watch.
You’ve got it all figured out. So go grab 300 of your friends hand them some instruments and divide them into 4 groups heading straight towards each other passing through and never stopping and you got it. Be sure and send us your video so we can show these band members how it should be done. I can’t wait to see it.
It happens. The 4 way cross requires 2 people to be in the same spot at the same time. That’s why they all change directions and sometimes even bump into each other. That’s also why some people don’t play while going through the cross because their instruments are too big to be played while weaving through it.
yet you made the choice to start the video. should have just scrolled on by. guess they arent tasked to create pleasure in your mind eh. somthing greater than that is at work here. too bad you cant see it

NOBODY beats the Aggie Band. Makes me so proud I could bust. BQs totally rock.
Sax player got hooked on someone else. Truly amazing that they can just carry on with kind of mistake and not miss a beat.
I noticed that too. Musician got turned around a little too.
Thank you very much for this video! Good to see not only wide-angle, but also tele. Subscribed! Greetings from Germany
Nice save by the snare at the end, picked up the dropped hat from the beginning.

Which mistake are you referring to? The sax player?
The trumpet player who picked up that sax and carried it through the rest of the performance while playing his own instrument deserves a medal.
