This guy is my all time favorite. I've been watching baseball, particularly the Braves, for a long time and I have never seen anyone like Chipper Jones. To me, he is the Mickey Mantle of my lifetime. That is probably the greatest compliment I could ever give to a baseball player. Well done Chipper. I really miss you on the field. You're the best. ⚾️ Mike Pardue
All I would remember was Chipper Jones and Andruw Jones in the lineup when I was younger. My mom was a major Braves fan and they were the names I'd always remember. She has an autographed jersey of Andruw framed on the wall in her office and a signed ball by Chipper. Chipper Jones was a beast on both sides! Also Chipper loves catching Marlins lol
He took the first step today in being a part-time hitting consultant. I think he is starting to get tired of being too separated from the game. I don't think we will get Maddux(Greg of course) to coach at the MLB level.
I wear my sock high in the summer with shorts on bc Im going for the middle aged overweight dork look. The socks really put the !!!! on the look! Dawg!
For all his offensive prowess, his defense was always overlooked. He had a laser arm and great instincts, even well into his 30s. He wasn't quite Brooks Robinson, AKA The Human Vacuum Cleaner, in the field, but was miles better offensively and maybe the greatest hitting 3B of all time. Disagree? His .303 career BA is 40 points higher than Mike Schmidt's, his 1,623 career RBI are 170 more than fellow Braves legend Eddie Matthews, and he is also the only switch-hitter in MLB history with a .300 BA and 400 HR. End of discussion.
Great player, but the greatest switch hitter was Mantle and probably the most gifted ball player ever to play the game. A.421 on-base percentage, is the record for on base percentage by a switch hitter. If he played healthy, there is not telling what he could have accomplished.
His swing from both sides of the plate was just so smooth. He's my favorite player of all-time and the people even close to him on my list of favorites are Greg Maddux, Jim Thome and Tom Glavine.
Glad that Chipper Jones got his second ring with us being the batting assistant coach for the 2021 Braves squad. There won't be another Chipper Jones especially in the Braves organization. They don't make them that loyal anymore.
Grew up a Yanks fan. Always hated Chipper. That said ... always respected him and will say, for the record, this man belongs in the HOF!!! Today, sir, I am your fan! God Bless you and every other Brave that you played with. Damn, that was hard to say, but well deserved.
I'm glad I put his rookie card's in hard holder's 28 or so years ago. He backed up the hype with actions he didn't even speak about. That's a humble great athlete.
I'm glad Chipper was inducted into the Hall of Fame, he definitely deserves it. He was my favorite player growing up and yet I'm a Boston Red Sox fan all my life since I live in Massachusetts but there was something about Chipper. Maybe it was because I played 3rd base and so did he.
For all of us that realized it, Chipper was the template of the perfect baseball player. There will never be another that brought everything together as well as he did on the baseball field.
this guy was my all time favorite baseball player. I watched him from the age of 3-19 when he retired. He played for the same team the braves whom I love. I am still upset over him retiring but I know everyone has to retire at some point. Why couldnt I see him for one more year
Watching these highlights made me remember Vinny Castilla and Andres Galaraga (sp?). Really miss watching Chipper play. The Braves just arent the same.
Lord knows, I am an avid Braves fan. Have been for over 30 years and will be until I die. Times are tough going through this reconstruction of the team now. But I do know it will be as great again as it was during the 90's once again; it just takes time. I will never forget how teams came to Atlanta and were already defeated before they got off the plane. They knew they had to face Maddox, Smoltz , and Glavine. They knew they had to try and suppress the likes of Chipper Jones, Fred McGriff, David Justice, Ron Gant, Javier Lopez, and Brian McCann. It truly was the glory days, rivaling those that the Yankees experienced. Soon, again. Soon.
Hey, the Braves are doing good now! Second in the race between the NL and only 1.5 games behind the Phillies. Looking forward to where this takes us Plus, we still have Freddie Freeman, one hell of a First Baseman. And Ozzie Albies, Dansby Swanson, Markakis, and Inciarte. All of our players are good of course these guys are doing great. And if you haven’t heard Newcomb ( one of our pitchers ) was only 1 strike away from throwing a no-hitter and then they drove it into left. :( still sad.
@@doublepoet7852 Plus chased down the Mets and made them a footnote in franchise history, coming back from 10.5 games back and 8-4 head-to-head deficit in 2022. he really should be hitting coach for the Braves. He knew how to stand in the box against each pitcher in each situation at each count. The hitting savvy he could give to the young players on the Braves now could make them formidable to say the least.
My Mom was a big Chipper Jones fan , she had some fairly tame Chipmonks that would come up to her porch for sunflower seeds she called them all Chipper ,, Rip Mom

Most under-rated 3b and switch hitter ever. Yes, he is recognized as a great player but this recognition always seemed a bit less than what it should be. The man could hit almost anything a pitcher threw at him, even if it was a foot off the plate.
Had #10 on my back till my last game of my senior year And even in the Connie Mack World Series. If you know what that is, much love. my hometown is where the Connie Mack World Series takes place. many pro players played in this Series.

I agree 100% that Chipper is the best hitting 3B ever. Schmidt was a gifted player and created a lot of runs, yeah, but I don't think you can take a good look at the numbers and argue that he was more prolific at the plate than Chipper. Schmidt was a truly great player though and should still be considered the best 3B to ever play, I think.
I am a life long Braves fan, and Chipper is my favorite player of all time. That being said, I think he has the second best looking swing/batting stance right behind Mr. Ken Griffey Jr. A close 3rd would be Cody Bellinger. #ChopOn

Chipper Jones is probably the COOLEST player in MLB history. So calm, cool, and collected. So smooth. So consistent. Such a beast.
Lol I always said he reminds me of your best friend's, cooler older brother😎
Yeah, him and Ken Griffen jr.
Best 3rd baseman of all time; all-star performer, all-star attitude.

Don't disrespect the great one by comparing Beltre to him, Beltre is great but doesn't hold a candle to chipper.
