I think Manoj was attracted playing this character because he played similar character in his first big break movie Satya. In Satya, he portrayed the life of a gangster Vikhu Matre as an ordinary man, not a gangster you see in movies like Godfather or John Wick.

One of the best part of this show is that it respects it's audience . The show has not taken advantage of its viewers and sold them off or spoonfed them bullshit which is so prevalent in Hindi Industry right now.

Bajpai is right when he talks about the unceasing dilemma of a hardworking man balancing his rozi-roti workplace demands and that of his family, that he has taken the responsibility for.
In the real world of people of working in the Intelligence Network, they are usually normal, hardworking bureaucratic women and men - watching intently from the shadows, observing, collating information, analyzing it, filing it for future need, or simply moving in to neutralize any forecoming threats before it explodes.
One could be sitting next to such covert intelligence officers, in a bus or train or plane, or just glancing at them while stopping at a traffic signal. Few minutes later, one would not be able to recall their face at all.
Far removed from the James Bond franchise that has whetted the last few generations...!

Manoj's way describing things character or anything is unique and does seem his own even though he learned English very later but best than many Indians who pretend to be western
I think I have seen this narrative in some movies earlier. Like we had Vajpayee himself playing the role in Special 26, where he had to send his kid to school, had a normal life in a govt. quarter or Kay Kay Menon, a CBI officer, struggling to keep afloat his home life in Rahasya. We have seen this narrative in glimpses I guess.

The thing that i hate abt such interviews is that whenever if a celebs like nawaz and saif come together rajeev did qna with saif in eng and nawaz in hindi. Why?I mean from inside nawaz feel inferior as i think so. Did saif didn't know hindi they both can give interview in hindi to make nawaz feel comfortable bcoz the mass is also hindi audience.Why?
I used to think the same but came to the conclusion that the inferiority complex is in me and not the actors. He is interviewing in the language the actors are comfortable with. Until you do not see it as just a language you will be trapped in that complex
Actually Nawaz feels more comfortable speaking in Hindi. His English is not fluent even though he understands it. But I think Nawaz himself said he feels far more comfortable taking in Hindi.
Its a pity Rajeev that you didn't interview in Hindi. Manoj ji ki hindi sunna aur achcha lagta.

The title "The Family Man" Implies to the main character and his family, but I would have loved to see life of other characters as well, there was no character development for other characters

Aligarh was beautiful film. The only issue is targeted audience. Intellectual person will give 100% marks. Great movie but a family man or some young teenagers will not see it.
After 377 has been struck down and Shubbh Mangal Zyaada Savdhan, hopefully films like Aligarh will get more attention
