      The newer notifier modules have a built in power supervision and if disconnected they automatically tell the panel "module _ loss of power " etc.

    Thanks Joe for these amazing videos. I just have a question on this particular video, since we have four strobes connected to terminals 6 & 7, how can we address them to communicate with the addressable panel since we have two dials only on the FCM?

    • @jcnash02
      @jcnash02 Месяц назад

      They aren’t addressed, they all go at once when the FCM tells them to.

  • @peterjozefowicz6074

    With your current setup, the AVs won't sync per ADA standard. But if you use the Control Module to trip a BPS with sync capability and land the AVs on the BPS NACs. Only time you should use a Module to fire an AV directly is if your doing an outdoor AV for ring by tenant.

    • @JoeKlochan
      @JoeKlochan  6 лет назад

      Peter Jozefowicz that depends on what's powering your control module. If the power feeding the control module is already synchronized, the sync will pass through the control module.

    • @peterjozefowicz6074
      @peterjozefowicz6074 6 лет назад

      Joe Klochan the only 24v power source that you should be using are either the 24v R/NR contacts off the the FACP or the AUX on a BPS so it's a supervised source. What exactly are you using for 24v power?

    • @JoeKlochan
      @JoeKlochan  6 лет назад

      Peter Jozefowicz that depends on the setup. There are situations where FCPS panels are setup to be always on (aux power jumpered to input 1) and then the outputs feed control modules. That's typical in strip mall applications. In that case, the FCPS is the master sync. What are you going off when you say the ONLY power I should use is off the panel?

    Dear Sir. May I have one question. If external DC 24V power supply broken, is the panel show trouble for this FCM module? One of my project the alarm bells are connected with FCM module. Now client want to off alarm bell at the day time and on back in the night time. I am planning to disconnect external power supply to this FCM module.Is it possible?
    TIA

    Hello. Is there any code regarding to location this control module has to be located? Any distance from the Panel? Or any distance from the notification appliance used?

  • @MrPpotempa
    @MrPpotempa 11 лет назад

    You could also use the power supervision relay with the EOL resistor on the NAC circuit to avoid using an additional module. However that is only beneficial of your EOL device is close to your power source as running the source power all the way to the EOL device is impractical at long distancea.

  • @kjvsoulwinners6756
    @kjvsoulwinners6756 4 года назад

    Does the auxiliary power need to be resettable even though it’s on standby? And if so how can you make it resettable, because it appears that it cannot be resettable with just the power supervision relay?

    • @JoeKlochan
      @JoeKlochan  4 года назад

      I haven't watched this video in a long time, so I don't remember exactly what I got into, but power feeding control modules shouldn't need to be resettable. If it was a zone monitor module (the type that requires external power to feed conventional smokes), that would require resettable power, which can be achieved by installing an addressable relay and programming it for resettable power, depending on the panel.

    • @JoeKlochan
      @JoeKlochan  2 месяца назад +1

      Typically it's a data signal called EIA-485. Some panels require 2 data wires, some require 4 because they require a return. All will also require 2 24 volt power cables as well.

    May I ask a question about the wiring of speaker strobe connected to the FCM-1 module. Do we need to run 24volt DC from fire alarm panel to the FCM-1 module? I understand there is an amplified signal already connected to the module.

    • @JoeKlochan
      @JoeKlochan  2 года назад +1

      No, there wouldn't be 24 volts going to that module, only SLC, the audio signal from the amplifier, and then the output to the speakers. Those are the only circuits connected to the module.

    • @JoeKlochan
      @JoeKlochan  2 месяца назад

      Good question. If it's an FCM, and so it's on a notifier panel, then most likely yes you'll get a trouble. But it depends on how that FCM is programmed and what it's doing. If its power source is 24 volts and it's triggering strobes or a NAC panel, then it should give you a power loss trouble. It's been a number of years since I've worked for a notifier distributor, so I'm a little out of practice. I don't remember all the different type codes. If it's tripping speakers, the FCM won't give you a trouble because you don't have 24 volts present on those terminals, rather it's a signal from the amplifier.

    • @JoeKlochan
      @JoeKlochan  2 года назад

      I've never seen it not work. All the control module does is pass the input source to the output terminals when it's prompted. It doesn't interfere with sync at all. I just finished a job this week where we did this again, no sync issues. What kind of equipment are you working on?

    What point on the panel would these start on?

    • @JoeKlochan
      @JoeKlochan  3 года назад

      Not sure I totally understand the question. I haven't watched this video in a long time so I don't remember exactly what I covered in it, but the short answer is it would start at the SLC. That circuit would allow the module to communicate with the panel, then it would need some sort of power source, either 24 volts for horn strobes, or an amplifier circuit if it's for speakers. If you mean what address would it start at, on most panels that wouldn't matter, you could use any open address.
