Visit Tasmania: Pedalling on the Maydena - Florentine rail track

Railtrack Riders is located in Maydena, Tasmania. It is approximately 84km west-north-west of Hobart, a car journey of 1 hour 15 minutes (approximately).

Railtrack Riders offers 3 different rides. This video shows a glimpse of the Maydena-Florentine ride, though an historic timber logging region. The ride is 4.8km (return), with a short rest stop at Florentine Station.
The ride can be a little strenuous, with slight inclines that your legs will notice but your eyes won’t. Fortunately, one of the staff are riding a powered vehicle, also on the rails, that push you if needed. Most of the time, they will stay a respectful distance behind and you won’t hear the noise of the motor.
Railtrack Riders may seem a fair distance out from Hobart but there are townships to visit in the region.
At Westerway, there’s the Westerway Raspberry Farm where you can purchase various berry products (the raspberry farm grows more berries than just raspberries). During the season, you can also pick your own berries.

At Plenty, there is the famous Salmon Ponds, where you can stroll through the gardens and feed salmon and trout, read up on the history of salmon and trout farming in Tasmania and have lunch.

I would recommend doing the railtrack ride in the morning and return to the Salmon Ponds, via Westerway Raspberry Farm, in the afternoon.
