famous brillance There is no big difference in what kind of "danger" we feel (internal, external).Speaking shameless is a big obstacle to jump over for a lot of us and the decision to take this step needs bravery! Best wishes :)
Agreed! I hope he was able to practice what Eckhart taught. It looked like he was having a hard time grasping what Eckhart was saying. You could see his mind/ego trying to make sense of it. He looks like he has a good soul and was earnest to change so hope he had a breakthrough.
"The anger is no longer you. The anger is anger. And you are the awareness." Wonderful said! He really knows how to deliver the message - shortly yet deeply. Greetings from Germany. :)
I used to have a lot of anger issues. I would give way to the emotions, fester in them and lash out. I’m grateful for my past anger, because it was what started my own spiritual awakening. I realized the anger and pessimism was ruining my friendships, my health and my life. I started becoming aware of when I was getting angry and would focus on the feeling instead of acting on it. I’m a totally different person now than what I was several years ago. Ironically, I kind of found my own spiritual awakening on my own...then I found Eckhart Tolle and was amazed to see someone essentially teaching exactly what I was practicing on my own.
I've noticed when anger rises it feels justified and normal but when you see it in another person while u are in calm mood you realize how absurd, stupid, weak and pointless it really is so this helps and motivates to manage anger. I think we learn these moods from our parents and we just keep repeating it all if we lack the desire to go somewhere else with our lives.
I feel for the guy asking this question, because I can strongly relate. Sometimes, it just feels too overwhelming and impossible to shut off resistance and frustration, and just let everything be. It can be addictive to stay in control at all times.
+Stefan Alexander Lay "It can be addictive to stay in control at all times." = ego " just let everything be." = presence - only saying because exactly what I work with too! namaste :)
+Stefan Alexander Lay I have the same problem and instead of staying present I prefer to punch a pillow or kick a training bag.... but what Eckhart is saying it's not about shutting off resistance, it's about observing it and being with it. Sometimes I manage to stay present and indeed anger subsides, but then I get a feeling that I need to vent it out instead of staying present, I guess my ego is very frustrated and wants to punch and kick to release the tension instead of staying present.
+Claire Lou (GardenFaery) ... thanks for that well placed comment Claire... you hit the nail right on the head. I am... or was on the *exact* same vibe as Stefan, then I read your perfect comment! Ego is surely as addictive as heroin is to a heroin addict. (this comment added with utmost respect to Stefan!) ;o)
+lily Only realising this tonight after Stefan sparked the issue. I'm now thinking of it this way. Ego to our souls is like heroin to a heroin addict. Going without heroin for the addict brings about all manner of withdrawal symptoms... anger/sweating/intensity of thought and the rest. Therefore it should not be entirely unexpected that we may experience symptoms while we... detoxify (?) ourselves of the drug... in this case ego... Happy for anyone to better compose this statement... anybody...?
I’ve been listening to Eckhart for a few months and the difference is profound. Negative thoughts I used to believe without question have lost their power, my marriage, which was rocky has grown stronger, and I am more content and appreciative of everything in my life- good and “bad”. I truely feel blessed to have stumbled upon Eckhart’s wisdom. I have shared his gifts with my children in the hope that they will get hooked and banish all the unnecessary suffering that I went through for 59 years.
you can see in echkart he embodies his teachings. he looks and sounds so calm and present, no fidgeting, completeley in the moment and listening...its amazing
When praticing this exercise, people have to be really careful never to let these feelings Come again . Because the flow of negative energy would become explosive and exponentially destructive . Before doing this people have to deeply understand the way of constant acceptation of every and anything coming through. The moment one goes back to the old way of living these feelings Can be awfully destructive. People really need to be educated, long before engaging themselves in this revolutionary way of being. ❤
I not only have respect for that man for sharing his innermost personal problem, I am also very grateful that he did it. Thanks to him we all got these incredibly useful words of wisdom from Eckhart. I hope his practice helped him.
I love how present he is when he speaks, especially when he thanks the audience, it's not just the protocolar 'thank you' of any speech, but a meant one. With only that we can see he is no fraud, he does live according to what he preaches.
It's important to not suppress whatever you're feeling or scold how you feel/think because that just causes for more thoughts and emotions. Once I let go of myself and stopped hating my thoughts and emotions, I felt more present
It is very hard not to feel completely identified with the pain body. Awareness itself is a state of mind that I find really hard to put in practice when emotions arise.Thank you for this helpful and beautiful video.
Doran Shaw I am trying to differentiate the act awareness from states of mind. Awareness could not exist without the mind so how come we cannot call it a state of mind. I am not talking about forcing awareness however the act of awareness as being, if you are aware you are in a state of mind are you not?
Miscience, remember states of mind is a concept. Theres only identification with the mind or awareness without necessarily lost identification. To make it easy, consider this thought: "I cant believe I did that to him...". So 1. Which part of you said that. 2. Which part of you actually did that? 3. Which part of you is just observing behind all of that? The observing part is the awareness, which is dissociated from all the dramas including state of minds. State of minds mean you engage in the THOUGHT process.. Which is not the awareness. Cos the awareness simply observes. Keep asking yourself those 3 questions again and again. Before u know it, u realise, there's spaciousness and awareness behind everything. Usually people are lost in THOUGHT.. Not realising it is not awareness. Consider this: 1.Do you have to think to be aware? 2.Can you be aware without thinking? Of course you can...
I understand that awareness works like the way we breathe so when we think of breathing we are forcing our breath. After awhile our breathing just happens and this is how awareness happens. I didn't realize in order to be in a state of mind you have to be in a thought process. Thanks for the explanation.
This man is brave simply by asking this question and revealing a raw emotion he struggles with. Love to you and nice job by Eckhart to give you tools and advice, which we all can benefit from 3
Spent two months buying, planting, maintaining a beautiful flower garden. My mother in law comes when I am gone from my home and steals not only plants but my tools!!! She is a destructive person in all aspects of life, all relationships. This mans words are all that keeps me from loosing control. Helps me put all in perspective. Keeps me out of prison. Love you ET!☮♥️☯️
I'm proud of you dude. Most all of us are experiencing the exact same thoughts and you were brave enough to expose them. The simple fact that we recognize , or are aware of our thought patterns is the first step in changing our habits of negative thought patterns. Our minds can be our worst enemy or our best friend
I think, and feel, the majority of what Eckhart says about what humans feel. His "knowing", for me, is proof that Eckhart is the real thing. He is authentic and he has helped me so much. He has saved my spiritual life; if not, my human/ physical life as well. I owe him much...
9:24 I found it really inspiring that I noticed a change in this gentleman's entire energy. He appears calmer, and the dialogue between him and Eckhart is very relaxed. I thought it was wonderful.
Now this is a man, who doesn't make anyone feel like crap! And he is more Eduated than Leo. Education, opens up your mind so much more. I love the tender response, he gave this man. Love and understanding is what I was great at, till life threw me a curve ball. So this video helped me reflect. So many of us need mental help, and we should never be ashamed!
For me this is what many refer to as emotional intelligence, recognising and controlling your own emotions and ensuring they are used in a positive manner.
I've been through anxiety, depression, anger, frustration, pessimism, ignorance, arrogance, insecurity and apathy. I've been through a great deal of pain overcoming this. I've been at the lowest of lows and highest of highs, where everything was wrong and where everything was right. The complications of getting out of it is impossible to accurately put into words, but Eckhart Tolle provides some very good solutions.
are you sometimes angry abour yourself? Here is the solution....becoming aware is more important than changeing oneself. Become aware and the change happens..... that is the best insight Eckhart gave me. Thank you.
It's nice to hear someone say so honestly they aren't okay, it feels like things are wrong. Anxiety and OCD are what cause those feelings in me (maybe this man too), and it's so important to let those feelings be, without obsessing and trying to explain it.
This man, helping us to see how we can all be. Trying to awaken us. The first few minutes of listening to him, I got it. I had never seen or listened to him before. I am amazed how just nailed it. To me, this indicates a true teacher.
This guy has definitely changed my life. I was stuck in the cords of my anxiety so badly due to the Corona Virus. For a month I had severe anxiety attack and I couldn't share with anyone. I began watching his videos, reading his books and now I have learned to control it. Not that I am fully okay but 65% okay now. Love him. ❤️
I hope that the person who asked this question keep awakening and improving. A lot of practice is needed. Spiritual masters practice at all time, why not you and me.
Anger of course a very primal survival emotion in all of us. The Great Experiment, catch the spark, to stop the inferno. This by far is one of the most helpful Eckhart Tolle Question-Answer video segments (in my opinion of course, lol). The discussion and "decisive" shift from identifying with the feeling can be a challenging with all our social conditioning and so many belief systems, it requires dedication to the practice and definitely not a one off prospect. I have watched this video several times and it helps me gain an even deeper understanding each time. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you Eckhart. 12 years ago, my cousin came to Singapore and he was advised by his boss to gift me a book. Amazing, how good things can happen to you. It was Power of Now, the condensed version. From the title, it seemed as time management book. From then on, the messages and guidance in your teachings has always part of my consciousness. Namaste.
Thank you Eckhart, I needed that this morning. I had this overwhelming, actually physically debilitating pessimism caused by the thought that I'm surrounded by people who don't care about making the world better - boring people. But it's not true and I love the idea of the 'pain body' - the existence of old pain from which anger can grow..... loads of good stuff here.
WOW i feel the same way sometimes I feel like NOBODY cares about the world. Whears theres so much BAD stuff like world hunger, criminals and what not. I think and read about problems all the time myself.
The pain of helplessness is a truth. It is an inherent part of the human experience which is behind his anger. Helplessness is not a thought form but an aspect of experience. Infancy. Old age. Mortality. Surrender is ironically one of the most empowering and true phenomena of meditation. The sense of being "wrong" so sensitively picked up by Eckhart is connected with this. In Helplessness, we can allow this primordial feeling of 'wrong'. Accepting helplessness allows awareness to expand.
I have just discovered this brilliant man and my long years of toil and suffering has come to a peaceful resolution, thanks to his inspirational insight. Definitely going to continue watching and learning his methods on how to cope with life. Just overall thankful to hear such words that gave me that teary happiness that I have longed for.
He is truly a beacon of light who touches the borders of our souls! Humanity needs help and "this light" helps us all become more AWARE!! In essence, it is ACCOUNTABILITY of one's actions which determines the witnessing body to control the mundane thoughts of the ego!!.
I remember a few years back when I was meditating a lot that I started appreciating my thoughts. I was waiting for them to appear and embraced them. When I stopped fighting them, they dissolved. It lead me to the discovery that acceptance is the truth.
Thank you brother Tolle, this has opened up a whole new level of awareness for me. Not just with anger but every emotion, we can choose to be the awareness/observer or the participant.
I love how calm and comforting Eckhart Tolle is. It takes a lot of courage to speak in front of people and he acknowledged both sides. He has had an amazing impact when it comes to the field of personal development and one of the top figures that I look up to along with Tony Robbins, Steven Covey and Wayne Dyer.
Thank God I found this channel. It's unlocked me to the deepest core, I'm finally understanding the lessons I came here to learn. The pain & suffering are all part of the awakening.
Thank you always, Eckhart Tolle! Not a giant leap at a time but when seen from a while later, a great difference is there in me, thanks to you. Your teachings have been sown to the ground of many people's lives and I'm sure that they are all growing and flowering in their own way and in their own time.
I almost cried watching this video..from past two three days I have been going through anger issues,n it seemed to be destroying my spiritual practice...exactly what this man said..n this video popped up..eckhart tolle is a saviour I must say..how beautifully he explained that such emotions help u grow in ur spiritual practice. Will definitely try to be more aware of my thoughts n emotions Great respect n love for this guy 🙏🏻
I’m 16 The guy with the red spoke every word I feel everyday thanks to him he helping me. see what one person that speak about there problem can help another🤟🏽💯edit and this not myaccount
Anger is a very addictive energy ... You can take yourself out of that energy by listening to uplifting music and then more easily apply Eckart Tolle's recommendations ... or you can create a simple mantra that you repeat 3 times, each time with more conviction than the last ... My mantra is "I am God's Grace"
This very practice of being aware of the anger instead of owning the anger as a part of me, was exactly what helped me to let it go. I would notice the thoughts that brought on the anger and redirect my thoughts in a direction of positive truth instead. I’ve been struggling with this all week. Now I’m free. 😊
Being a witness of your anger and thoughts is such a powerful tool! This is what psychologist doing during the sessions. So, you can be your own psychologist forever, so cool! Thank you for this video Mr Tolle.
I was taught to try and transform anger into positive action. For instance, instead of being angry with someone, do something about it, open your heart and talk to them. The idea is to be proactive instead of suffering.
Totally experienced this this morning . Frustrated , realized it, would not stay there. Talked to Spirit, tried to think of something else good, pure and lovely , This took about 3 times before frustration subsided !!! still learning it’s a journey, my journey , thank God I am not alone ! I am one with ABBA Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit 😍
Eckhart Tolle is just so much life. My family should be greatful I have found him:) Anyhow I can have 40 feelings and then just go numb and in a state of blur and I have to find Eckhart to understand and to be able to observe again and not involve my soul.
I enjoy learning how to make sense of the world, Eckhart , Deepak,Wayne Dyer, and others have helped me feel better by not just coming up with a story , but actually offering some intellectual reasoning . Thank you
Wonderful conversation, between two brave men. Thank you! It's a timely refreshment of what became a bit buried underneath much whirring of my mind-mills. There's great humor in this, that our painbody-yelps and -mews, are tools for transformation and growth toward awareness. Empowerment contained within, how wise!
My reactions to my anger are expressed in a destructive manner. Often times, lashing out at the person with very hurtful words which have been learned since I was a child. These patterns are powerful but the awareness and the ability to change it is beyond words in how this can change your life.
fabulous video explaining anger as a field of thoughts. .. ."the decisive shift from being the anger, to having the anger in your energy field....feel it as the witness ...anger can become an important spiritual practice because through it awareness can grow." See also David R. Hawkins on the levels of consciousness, specifically the book Letting Go
I have great sympathy for this fella. He is acknowledging all these feelings at least. A lifetime of this unconscious reaction takes time to let go of. I struggle with it every day.
I want to overcome my anger, it made most devastating things in my life and life of others... doing a practice from it sounds great to me. Thank you Eckhart.
Just as how he explains that you can be aware of the emotional energy. You can be aware of the ones that reflect impulses and reactions. Until one can become aware of these impulses and reactions, they are not really living. They are autonomously driven by the impulses and reactions. First become present, then what's needed in your life comes. And what's needed in your life at that moment of impulses is, vegetables, not taco bell. The other half is being identified with thoughts that eating healthy is hard. Even other habits like homely habits that keep you away from socialization. It's fine to have habits, impulses and reactions. Just don't be lost in it. Be aware so that you can make practical decisions and "respond" to situations instead of reacting. Enjoy being alive and have fun doing whatever it is that you're doing. It's the identification of stories related to your past that create suffering, and dissolves enjoyment. There's nothing bad happening right now and it's absolutely beautiful, how can you be upset? Unconsciousness brings unhappiness, becomming consciously aware, you will realize how you can enjoy being alive.
If we were to live we had to be free of anger. -BBB of AA pg 66 My dad gave me his big red plastic bat and said, "I know it sounds funny son but beat the shit out of your bed and release that anger safely so you don't harm others or yourself!" Best advice in healing anger ever given... I love you, dad, thank you for your wisdom and compassion. ❤
A great question and a great response, so full of compassion and intelligence! Thank you to both the person who asked the question, with such honesty and integrity, and to Eckhart Tolle, for unwrapping the issue so many get trapped in. Thank you for sharing it on youtube. Peace & Blessings
This is so true. Before I even started trying, I remember catching myself observing the angry person, me. I realized I don't have to be that. I'm always still working on it. Also at first, it's like an addiction, and when you stop Being angry, you kind of miss it. A few times I did it again as it just felt comfortable. But that anger is not really me, and I don't like it. I accept it, I can understand it, but I don't choose it...in the moments.
"When you are aware, you don't have to believe every thought that arises"..incredible Eckhart..your level of consciousness and spirituality is so elevated and just with a "simple" sentence like that, you give the key for a better existence. Thank you.
This is great. Thanks Eckhart. It is in effect the « solution » to all problems. If we have to courage to stand as witnesses even thru the darkest hours. This is liberation. Ultimate. I have been listening to lots of videos. Never met in person. So helpful. Yes, thank you.
I'm so grateful for Eckhart! I always feel so peaceful and aligned after listening to his words. I wonder how that man is doing now. I hope he is feeling happy and empowered
This man has a lot of awareness of his anger and can verbalisé it. His prognosis for becoming a calm cool person is very high. Thankful for Mr Tolle for the guidance. Very inspiring !
it takes a courageous person to be vulnerable and ask that question in front of everyone
True lol I could see that being me.
i was thinking the same thing
lovely statement..
What a brave man speaking for his own difficulties upright and shameless!
Agreed!
Stelios Lagaras my heart would be pounding too if I was in his shoes. I'm glad he asked the question.

I love the way he validates people
Not many people got the courage to do what that man did.. Much respect.

GorGob Thanks, it's exactly what I was thinking about
I feel for the guy asking this question, because I can strongly relate.
Sometimes, it just feels too overwhelming and impossible to shut off resistance and frustration, and just let everything be.
It can be addictive to stay in control at all times.
+Stefan Alexander Lay "It can be addictive to stay in control at all times." = ego

You just gotta love this guy Eckhart! God forbid my Ego is getting addicted to watching his videos.
It is very hard not to feel completely identified with the pain body. Awareness itself is a state of mind that I find really hard to put in practice when emotions arise.Thank you for this helpful and beautiful video.
Awareness itself isn't a state of mind. Its awareness itself. Don't think about that lol
Doran Shaw perfectly explained... awareness is the ultimate Disidentification... if you think in concepts, ideas & words, it is by default distorted..

"use anger as your spirital practice" - really wise words that shape my life from now on.
" a thought that comes from anger. its a disortion"

Khalid Safir i relate so much to this! Exact same for me today on a national level and personal level
I love Ekhart Tolle:)
Cassandra Del Prado Eckhart Tolle has been my teacher throughout the years. I have learned so much from his works.
And when you love everyone, you know you understand him :)
I feel such an authentic love for Eckhart :)
I love Cass . (and also Eckhart Tolle)
I love Alain & Cass. :)
You are our time gift from God Mr Eckhart Tolle.
This man is so brave and this speaks to me on such a level I know I am in the right place. Thank you 💜
such humility from Eckhart to explain it so clearly and so simply so others can appreciate as best as they could...
I remember a few years back when I was meditating a lot that I started appreciating my thoughts. I was waiting for them to appear and embraced them. When I stopped fighting them, they dissolved. It lead me to the discovery that acceptance is the truth.
Wow! First of all, very brave of the guy seeking advice about this in public. And what a wonderfully thoughtful and lucid response.

Developing an awareness of your emotions rather than becoming them 🙌🏼 = Complete control over yourself

I am so thankful for Eckhart Tolle. Pranam Eckhart.
Wonderful Buddhist teachings.....Thank you Eckhart!!
The power on NOW changed my life!! Bless you Eckhart Tolle
I don't have the right words to express my gratitude for this teaching.
Eckhart Tolle is just so much life. My family should be greatful I have found him:) Anyhow I can have 40 feelings and then just go numb and in a state of blur and I have to find Eckhart to understand and to be able to observe again and not involve my soul.
Good to hear over and over again 🙏🌹🙏
I enjoy learning how to make sense of the world, Eckhart , Deepak,Wayne Dyer, and others have helped me feel better by not just coming up with a story , but actually offering some intellectual reasoning . Thank you
Wonderful conversation, between two brave men. Thank you! It's a timely refreshment of what became a bit buried
underneath much whirring of my mind-mills. There's great humor in this, that our painbody-yelps and -mews, are tools
for transformation and growth toward awareness.
Amazing! Seems like Budhdha came to teach again.
Bless this man for his honesty with grace in expressing his feelings
If we were to live we had to be free of anger. -BBB of AA pg 66
My dad gave me his big red plastic bat and said, "I know it sounds funny son but beat the shit out of your bed and release that anger safely so you don't harm others or yourself!" Best advice in healing anger ever given... I love you, dad, thank you for your wisdom and compassion. ❤
I so feel the same way, thank you, it is amazing how the universe , how God works and gives the answer exactly when I need it . Be blessed
So much gratefulness for this and for the presence of this great soul amongst us all...!!
"When you are aware, you don't have to believe every thought that arises"..incredible Eckhart..your level of consciousness and spirituality is so elevated and just with a "simple" sentence like that, you give the key for a better existence. Thank you.
Incredible, incisive. Thank you Eckhart Tolle for your presence in the world!
Thank you eckhart, your videos made me more calm!
I feel such a love for this guy - both Eckhart and the questioner :)
Emotions always want to be justified. But choosing not to believe or follow or buy that thought is truly helpful.
