- This personal project has everything like robotics, 3d printing, programming, flutes, cats, Zelda, bloopers, and more!
I really didn't think it was possible for me to make this but here we are and I feel lucky to share this video with you!
You may share my video if you tag me!
Thank you for watching and let's hang out again sometime. See ya next time!

It would be cool to make a program that would take a MIDI file and play it back with this!
thats a great idea
I second this!

You "forgot" the one @0:17 🙂
"Once Upon a Time in the West" melody?
even if the wind is consistent; while playing other notes it may require more or less wind for those particular notes to be in tune so having the motor controlled with a PWM signal and some troubleshooting for each note may help the tunning.
This is an interesting project! However, your ocarina sounds very out of tune. Perhaps this may be because you are not getting good sealing around the finger holes or perhaps it is because it's just not a very high quality ocarina. You can also bend the sounds to be more in tune by using more or less air. I wonder if you can tune the notes by varying the air pressure. Basically, do some testing before hand and mapping a certain air pressure to each note.
Maybe silicone plugs instead of the rubber tips would help seal.

He bought one of those fake-ass Chinese Ocarinas.
This is the best channel for orange cats in background footage.
I think, out of all zelda like ocarinas you choose the least realistic, accurate or similar to the original. A more realistic one would have around 10 holes on the front and 2 on the back.
And a similar to the origina would have 7 holes, althoung i dont know how would it sound.
The project is interesting thought, and i can undertand why you would use a much simpler ocarina
pd : i know there are ocarina that has 4 holes cuz I've used both, but they are shaped differently, a more flat shaped one
Wow! What a cool project! Congratulations 😊
Thank you for saying that! :)
This is a neat project. I would personally try to add some sound proofing around the blower if possible, to make that less noisy.
Such a fun project and video! Great job!
Thank you!! I'm glad you liked it :)
Ear buds would make a good finger tip analogues.
Literally every other video I watch will be worse now for not having a blooper reel. That was hilarious :) Also, it would be awesome if you made a tutorial for designing PCBs for that machine!
They do make developer sprays that you can wash off after use. SKD-S2 is a good one, but on the pricer side. Used multiple times with blue-light scans.
A fine video that will please Bastet
i think it would sound better if the fan was silent. it also wasn't blowing as hard as a human.
you could fix this but its going to make the setup bigger and cost more by using an air compressor and pneumatic valves to control the pressure and flow.
the compressor would obviously have to be outside and one of those "silent" types.
Making a quieter fan was on my to-do list but I didn't have time but maybe if I make a part 2 updated video! :)
This was a really neat project. Great job!
Pro tip for getting those satisfying shots: Start with the final state and reverse. Eg. start with the plug already in the wall, pull it out from the wall, and reverse the footage.
A cool trick for plugin the socket to the wall: do it in reverse!
The Ocarina itself is a real instrument. Buying a real Ocarina would sound much better. It could be a source of a lot of frustrations when trying to make correct sounds. Even plastic ones can sound more accurate then the cheap Zelda ones.
Maby get one of those music boxes and add sensors to it as pickups ...you could make it crank operated or even automatically play
Divine like all your videos, the assistant Leo amazed ❤️
Thank you!! My cat Leo is a wonderful assistant! 😺
I've been waiting for this video!
Man, 3DSage videos never cease to amaze me

That was actually the last shot I filmed! I had a missing gap in the edit and quickly took that shot with my phone. It's one of my favorite shots.
So cool and inspiring
Maybe you can make your own ocarina that fits into a machine better. Maybe longer and more tube shaped?
It might be possible to 3D print my own ocarina! It might take several tries to get the notes right but maybe!
Always add connectors and as I was told build to destroy... basically everything eventually fails so build in a way you can upgrade or repair with as little hard work as possible
Nice project, i would hidden the blower and bring a tube so there will be les parasites noise. Also add rubber rings onto the selenoid to silence them

lol watching the bloopers at the end, i can see most of them could have been avoided by just doing it backwards and reversing the video.
I tried a reverse shot but it looked reversed. I knew if I just tried enough times I would eventually get 1 good take :)
The cat doesn't really seem to be impressed by your shenanigans. But I think its really cool!
He is hard to impress but easy to make curious from my weird projects.
With tweaking, you could definitely get it playing well in software, but for now, it has no soul. Top marks for sussing out the CAD side though.
7:11 maybe next time you pull the Plug out and Reverse the Footage 😂 but respect to nail it ^^
I wanted to do it right even if it took me several tries :)
Thing needs some tuning, but very neat!
I would be so happy if my flute could play itself
Check the different types of blowers. You chose a pressure blower (radial bladed) May I recommend an Airfoil, more efficient less impact. A backwards curved wheel can do the trick
So Nice.
ok, now you have to do TTFAF from Dragonforce
omg I want to see that! :)
The fan shouldn't be a radial one, but rather just some normal fluid bearing fan with an adapter just constricts the size down. Would be less noisy. You could make it even a snorkel shape and hide it behind and under the ocarina.
I like your ideas! I might need to make a part 2 video with some of the feedback I am getting.
Next time try Dr. Scholl’s OdorX spray as a de-glosser. It’s not permanent and can be cleaned off after scanning.
I will have to try that. Thank you!
Your next video should be how to make a Edison Phonograph.
I've actually thought about that! :)
@@3DSage wow lol.
This was fun. Thanks for sharing yoir adventure in finding a solution to your goal. Now I'm thinking what a box that opens and plays an ocarina tune would sound like.
It was a fun project that I am proud of! So much problem solving but it's rewarding :)
I think it sounds better when you do it there's just something off about when the computer does it
That was awesome!
the cat is judging you
Obviously it was non-stop Darude - Sandstorm. Great build though. Maybe you could make different shaped air chambers and produce a whole orchestra.
That would be a great song! And fun idea. Maybe in part 2 :)
i love your cat
It still irks me how badly tuned these ocarinas are
You are aware that your supposed to block some button half-way to achieve the other notes right? right?
And the thumb as well... there is a hole you don't use yet... XD
Love your passion and dedication (Y)
you should make it act like a recorder you play the song first then you press the button and it repeats what you played
IRL town tune editor from Animal Crossing
I would have bought a blower fan like a 5015. it can blow more air while still being more quiet than your own 3d printed design.
ocarinas are cool
god bless your lungs for not getting every cancer in existence from that pcb milling because i wouldnt call this safe...
I found this response online "PCB milling does not involve any chemical substances, making it suitable for use in general home or office environments without the need for handling hazardous chemicals. Due to the use of milling equipment for electrical isolation, PCB milling is safer than chemical etching"
@@3DSage ive heard that glass fibers fly off when milling and may cause cancer, but idk i havent ever milled a pcb
7:13 bro, you just could do another reverse recordind
It didn't look right to me and I knew I could get 1 good take if I tried enough times :)
LOL. Nice stuff.
sick! i only got la cucaracha and happy birthday though 😂
Awesome!
send it over to look mum no computer and he can probably make it midi compatible.
Hows nobody talking about the cat lol
Maybe I need to show my cat more! :)
Nice! How did you design the PCB? its quite efficient in the amount of cuts that were taken to separate the traces. Did you manually draw squares around each trace?
You can! Depends on the software you use. Some already have the ability for milling.
Airblower aka 3dprinter fan
insane project, insane vid, insane staging, insanely bad sound though :D
the plugs always let some air pass through but I have ideas for an update if there is a part 2 :)
great
This is the most tone deaf machine ever made.
is the ocarina actually that badly off-key? or is it a limitation of the machine?
This is a truly wonderful project! One thing, though... PCB board?
And yeah I know haha I'll pay more attention next time. TY You!
holy crap lol
The notes are slightly wrong for some reason.
The plugs let some air pass through but I have some ideas if I make a part 2 :)
@@3DSage will be waiting. This is such a cool idea!
if a fancy 3D scanner needs the same conditions than a phone, then what's the point
What 3D modeling software is he using?
STOP STALLING PART 3😂
It would be easier to guess the songs if you actually played the correct notes. Perhaps the problem is that you don't have enough octaves.
I miss you sage. I miss you.
@3DSage Have you tried polarising film to remove the reflection?
That might interfere with the scanner's distance calculations but it may be worth a try!
So this is an ocarina?
The ocarina flute goes back thousands of years but it has been more popular since Zelda games.
The is like "dude, really?"
KITTY
He is a great helper!
You've been conned, you need to try that with a real Ocarina. The one's you've bought are the fake Chinese versions that are completely out of tune.
Honestly the purple rupee design sounded much better but I wanted to use this classic Zelda ocarina shape for this.
Can you make another GBA 3D demo?
I will do that! I really like programming 3D on the GBA
Thank you! GBA is older than me but I still love it
@@Zazazaforaugust8 no worries, there are consoles and games older than me that I still really enjoy!
NOT SAFER, Using the milling bit on bare PCB exposes you to fiberglass DUST.
Builds a controller based Ocarina and doesn't play a single song from Ocarina of Time.
I played the market song at on the Rupee ocarina and Saria's song at the end. I had clock town and song of time but they didn't sounds as good and I had to edit out a few songs to keep the pacing interesting.
gotta hit up mitxela with this
Sure sent it to him! :)
Make it controlled by an N64 controller!
That would be fun! :)
it sounds like someone who doesn't know how to play ocarina
trying to play ocarina
Guess the song time:
Wait, Did I... Did I just get RICK ROLLED!?! 😂
me when no rush e 😔
Fake dial tone generator

another project that doesn't impress your cat!
Leo is a tough critic who likes to be on camera and judge my weird projects :)
pcb board
yes TY you!
Printed circuit board board
I know, I have a habit of saying that. I guess I want to make it extra clear.
First Pin me!
That is very cool. My recent idea was to create an automated garlic bread making process.
I would like to see your idea :)
Tons is slightly off because of the partial plugging of the holes I thinks.
Humans > machines
