If this game stays in the rotation, it might be good to start doing overexplained runs, like you did with Hades. Those really helped me engage with the game better, which helped me engage with your content more.
Note that you can't Noomlin charm something with a crown, but you can crown something with a Noomlin charm. Since you can remove crowns, the restrictions can be avoided
I can agree with basically all of these, especially the duplicator If you ever want to get the ritual achievement and have an insanely powerful build The duplicator is key for a summons deck And overburn is only powerful IF you dedicate the whole deck to it if you miss out on the item which lets you double overburn the deck is most likely not going to bring you to the endgame
This game is insanely hard and I've been struggling to get any meaningful progress, hopefully this helps lol. What I struggle with is knowing when to change where my units are placed. I find myself over or underthinking it and losing as a result. Losing is also very easy to happen and you can just lose a run in an instant because of one mistake it's pretty annoying
It's true, the devs stopped by my stream today and said they're working on some things such as a warning that your leader will be killed if you end turn. Sounds like they got some good QOL stuff coming.
Biggest throw for me was definitely a super powerful heavy frost build in which I Kabonkered my own hero to death when I didn't realize they will hit your own side too.
Hilariously, until I watched this I had been comparing crowns basically 1:1 to making cards innate in Slay the Spire, which is not always something you want to do because innate cards still take a draw slot.
might be a late comment, but can you make a vid explaining how to combat each boss/miniboss? what enemy cards to prioritise, how long to wait/tank hits for the next wave orattack as fast as possible before the boss triggers, how much to tank, what enemy cards to offset with snow/ink so u dont avoid all the enemies attack on the same turn etc? :v ive beaten the game a handful of times now, but recently ive been having trouble with infernoko lol, the rest i can kind of figure out depending on my deck and trail and error.
Until a week or so ago, I never even used crowns because I didn’t really understand what they did - I thought they just ensured cards to appear in your first hand, not in this free ‘crown phase’ - and now Iearn they are moveable!??
Over all good tips, but what's the matter with Overburn? It's literally just better damage since they explode when they get low enough and has no downside. Sure there are a couple cards that double overburn and there's not that good unless you get a bunch but I almost always grab Beepop or Azul Battle Axe
My first (and currently only) win was with a barrage + overburn combo on my main. I did have to stack my companions with those who applied and doubled overburn. My main source of damage output was from my shades, and I'd also use them to take most of the damage from enemies. Once you got a kill with overburn, it was really satisfying to watch it snowball! I'm trying to win with other mechanics now, but barrage + overburn will always have a place in my heart 💙🩵
I kinda flubbed that part it seems, my meaning was to say that you start with less Snow cards with Shade/Junk tribes (1 Snowzooka/1 Blizzard Bottle VS 2 Snowsticks).
Thx for the tips :D, it just that the boss I made is almost impossible to beat tbh, we got 1 that buff Allies , 2 healer (1 tank that have teeth and booshu), and a leader with barrage that lower attack, u don’t how I’ve struggling cuz I need to buff my character and 1 hit kill the buffer before the 2 healer heal the buffer while the leader just nuke my attack while also having decently high attack ;-;
I found that the best way is to get the Spike pet and then spam the first fight until you have pingu, wait till the board is full on big peng make peng take enough dmg that he dies on the turn every pengu attacks and BAM. You get the combo. Took me a while to figure this out though.
Greatest run I've ever had that I lost due to bad positioning was a build where I had scaven I think it was with a mimik attacking every turn with the help of the cooldown reduction charm and the ice cream lost it to bad positioning in the final fight was down to only my hero and couldn't win the 1v1
I beat it on my second run and then proceeded to not beat it again for over 30 attempts because of how busted that second run was (my main character inflicted 3 spore when attacked and made the final fight annoying as hell)
I started playing Wildfrost today, and almost every run i have done, has been ended by the woolly drek. I have never gotten past it, so if i could get any tips, i would appreciate it!
That guy absorbs status as well as ❤️ and 🗡️, so you can do stuff like putting a lot of overburn or bom on the other units so he will be easier to kill. Shroom is good too but difficult to time because it ticks down and if you stack a whole bunch they just die, but he inherits all debuffs so that should help you out That boss is hard though it took me a while to beat bigloo I needed a pretty strong deck. One other thing I did that run was focused on building really high damage. That one companion that buffs the weakest attack when hit, plug a frenzy unit can do a lot of work If you haven't yet, it might be a good idea to work on the achievements to unlock more charms, companions and items
Been enjoying seeing a video to help new players into getting the hang of the game, but, as someone who's also got a good amount of experience in the game (relative to how new it is at least), I feel like there's some parts that you should've touched on, and others that I straight up disagree with. -There is a very important aspect on the idea of "soaking up hits". I've seen a lot of players being afraid of taking a hit with their leader and letting units be KOed instead, it's important to see health as a resource, and that hoarding it may come at the cost of your own damage output at the end -The importance of waiting before using charms is something I was delighted to see here. I think a little bit on the decision between cards and charms in the shop would've been nice -You spoke on how Shell was better than Health, which.. isn't the case. There's a lot more things that synergise with health whereas there is only one or two cards in the whole game that synergise with shells. Don't get it twisted, Shells are good, and Shellbo can be game-winning on it's own if charmed/duped enough, but Pinkberry Juice, Berry Blade, alongside the plethora of ways to heal back up health makes max health increase a lot easier to use in any team. It helps that Pinkberry Juice is quite common too. -Showcasing a few basic teams could help those that don't understand the teambuild (Like the use of high HP units to protect low HP ones, Yuki with Snowcake, Monch with Chikichi, Mika with a trash crowned item, etc)
So how am I supposed to handle multiple runs with low HP leaders, barely any usable companions, and every charm I get is the stupid fish and consume buffs?
Don't forget about lining up the combos in game, this game really rewards you for lining up fancy plays that kills multiple enemies at once. Later you can get insanely strong with those money to buy stuff at the store
1st run was mid 2nd worst and my 3rd my best so far and I'm confused then again I also started playing about a dozen different card games all based on sts clones or that idea I basically have everything besides that which came out after it cuz it was all on sale after black Friday and I didn't have anything to replace inscryption with ah man THAT game! So under rated highly recommended if you've never played it u must stop w\e game you're playing now and go play it ASAP! It's on game pass and can be through the cloud too so no need to download it. More I say about it the more I spoil so all I'll say is not only is it a great game for what it is it's amazing! But for a card game it's so good better then ANYTHING I played since magic& Yu-Gi-Oh and it's like a mix of that style and strategy perhaps not quite as deep by it's better than mtg even or hearthstone. I'm hoping to find 1 of these other as good but far too many yet get the rules for the game anyway u gotta try it if u NEVER played it your in for a big treat
The only round I’ve won with was a spike run, all characters have spike on hit and I’ve only beaten the battle twice but never the second round yet, so only one good run 😅 I’ve had a few runs I lost before battle one is over from terrible shuffle luck
Imo the game should have normal (easy) and hard (current difficulty) mode. It's just too unforgiving, especially when against the team i won as in previous run, they're seriously overstatted it's not fair at all ... (I beaten the game once, and my team was obviously super strong, so now i feel like it's impossible to win again... they should've make each loss make them little weaker next time i face them) I just want to play more casually and have fun with all the different archetypes, i don't want to spend 5 minutes thinking on each turn and i may not even be able to win the fight from the beginning, like dafuq
I'd recommend picking up a companion with high single-hit damage and at least 5HP, such as Wallop, Firefist, or even some leaders, as well as one or two treasures that can hit for reasonable damage, such as Hongo's Hammer, Azul Battle Axe, or Pombomb. Ideally, your goal is to kill the enemy giving all other enemies Teeth ASAP, then focusing on removing Smog so that you can plan out ally targeting. After that, you should be mostly in the clear. The enemies that stack thorns when you hit them can be dealt with from a hit with a companion followed by a damaging item, since Teeth doesn't do anything to items.
This video's creator is focused on slowdown, which is generally op. But teeth is the specific weakness to that strategy. Slowdown leaves your characters doing the attacks - which invokes the teeth. Try the bomb that hits undamaged, or the bazooka (non-freeze), or the leech cat. He dissed health based decks, but upping your max health is a major win for a slower battle facing teeth. Also, he hated on having more companions, but that also is what would allow you to attack and partly ignore that it's killing your companions. The soul faction fares better against teeth, because they they keep dumping out companions. They attack and they act as damage absorbers.
Worst run... loosing to the penguins in the first fight... This is the only deckbuilder that I haven't cracked yet; one of the more difficults out there.
Pay attention and use math? So far this simple combo was getting me through the frost gang even with someone as bad as Demona... NERFED Demona. Yeah, that nightmare took me two hours but I managed to get a W
I’ve beaten the final boss several times, but my final fight is now full of 20+ health bosses, each with 4+ teeth, several multipliers with overburns and a smackback with 7+ teeth that heals ALL enemies by +5 every 4 turns - it is impossible omg. In fairness, I should probably not apply all the modifier bells every run 😂
So your only useful advice is "buy all the crowns"? Because that seems to be the only non-obvious piece of "advice" you're giving. I've been struggling to not feel like this game is 100% luck based, as every drop in the game is random with no ways to re-roll. Was hoping you'd reveal why there's such a huge disparity between people claiming they win nearly every game, and people angry at how little agency this game seems to give the player. Many Slay the Spire veterans outright say this game is too luck/RNG heavy, while others claiming to have never played anything in the genre are winning 80% of their games.
Well my best is 8 wins in a row on the hardest difficulty, it's not just luck or RNG. I don't have a lot of insight as why some people struggle with this one other than the overall system takes longer to get used to than some other deckbuilders. A0 Spire is much easier than the base difficulty in Wildfrost.
They should really consider having +Companion Limit also give you a Crown. I think it would balance it in favor of the other two choices.
Good idea imo
I think injury system works against the game
@@Haelian less companion means you will fight with weak injured companions.not good idea.

healing can potentially get a "when healed, add equal spice", which can make it WAY better than shell in the right deck
Biggest throw for me was definitely a super powerful heavy frost build in which I Kabonkered my own hero to death when I didn't realize they will hit your own side too.

Sure there are a couple cards that double overburn and there's not that good unless you get a bunch but I almost always grab Beepop or Azul Battle Axe
Main reasoning: it's hard to get lots of ways to apply Overburn so it can be challenging to actually stack enough to make it fruitful.
I find overburn is fine as long as you get barrage combo'd with it. Once the 1st enemy goes down, the whole row sweeps.
My first (and currently only) win was with a barrage + overburn combo on my main. I did have to stack my companions with those who applied and doubled overburn. I'm a huge fan of this game, will new things comeout? +amazing guide it actually helped a ton
The devs said they're still working on a balance patch but many new things are to come as well such as new tribes!
Have you played the new update yet? maybe worth having a look again
