people need to chill... this video was NOT made to offend epileptic people in any way! neither to bring a negative message of "Oh yes, let women suffer, or any prostitute thing... C'om we are FREE to be creatives in our own way'! STOP HATING... if you dont like it..DONT WATCH IT!
This is ART, people - provocative, yes, but art nonetheless. Great video, great song. I read a comment likening it to Steely Dan and Oingo Boingo. Amen!
@Koogert Actually..I just happened to see this linked on a friend's facebook page, and what I said was my honest reaction to the video. I had never heard of this singer prior, and neither was I trying to use it as a soap box. Chances are, I would equally dislike it (or just find it...odd) if it were a video showing women controlling men under the same context. If you're referring to this as art, then I would question the aim of the video and whether it succeeded as an 'artistic creation'...
The girls in this video seem to be having a difficult time making up their minds. I can relate. Like the other night I couldn't decide on what blouse to wear with these new awesome pants I got. Anyway, pressure from men like this doesn't help.
M are wordy and stuck up. I am glad to see these HWGM kids sticking it to epileptics and women too for that matter. I personally have never met an epileptic or a woman that was worth two cents.
@Koogert Filmed the way it is, I would also argue that the 'mind control' bit is much more than implied, seeing as the women's reactions occur directly after and follow the singer's every move. It would be a bit of a stretch on my judgement to say that they're two separate incidents occurring with no relation to each other. But yes, I am genuinely a little insulted by it. It's a bit depressing, and the basic message it conveys to me is one of cruelty.
@Koogert ...since to me the imagery is a real distraction from the song or any message that it has, and is basically just filler. When sexual violence is portrayed in art, it's usually to bring some new form of awareness or enlightenment (and to my knowledge is usually *critical* of said violence portrayed, whether depicted realistically or in parody), but in this case it seems mainly used only to shock or titillate, and therefore lacks the substance of what I feel can be defined as art.
This is disturbing..especially when the singer, dressed in leather, is making these telekinetic rape gestures while scantily clad women are writhing around. I'm not offended, though. I've seen other videos from HWGM and they're all interesting and work on a lot of different levels. I'm not sure what their Videos are about exactly and I don't care- what I do like about their videos ( and music as well) is the way they seem to confront me- the way any true piece of art should engage it's audience.
@Koogert its got nothing to do with it being women or men or dogs or cats or anything at all. There is no point to anything in this video except for someone inflicting intense pain on people. Why on earth do I want to see that? I don't. bad choice, bad video.
Quite frankly..the display of scantily clad young women having what appears to be epileptic fits, and being possessed/mind-controlled/abused by some guy is pretty offensive and a huge turn off for me. I can't imagine any reason for this video being the way it is other than to shock or titillate, which is usually the first thing that makes me tune out, since I'll assume that your content doesn't have enough substance to sustain an audience otherwise. Too bad.
This tone of sexual violence towards women in this video is unacceptable. I'm a fan of the band, but not this display of male fantasy sadomasochism. VERY bad decision, Nat Livingston Johnson & Gregory Mitnick. Shame on you for perpetuating the fetish of sexual violence. If these women were children, you wouldn't have dared make this video.
@Koogert Looking at it from the viewpoint of a newcomer as well, I would not be inclined to take the band seriously, as this first exposure has already turned me off quite a bit. And lastly I'm responding this way because I'm also a bit tired of the gritty or 'hardcore' element showing up in popular culture these days, which again often provokes but has little of any real substance to say.
Always love their videos. Here we go magic!!

replay.....replay........
can't wait for the show in Austin. probably my favorite band.
Wow love the POVs and superimpositions. If Walker Percy were still alive he'd write a novel about the women in this video.
Really odd video. However, this is the best new song I've heard in a very long time. Somehow reminds me of a few older Underworld tracks.
Magic epilepsy demon? That's what I get form this. Sorta scary. This song is totally killer, too. A very nice sound!

Great band
Here we go magic male gaze!
lmao! omg it can't be unheard...

Magic
Here we go magic patriarchy!
@luskletterwine I like the world you live in. Post modern delirium. Please pass the grey poupon..?

Reminds me of Lay down Sally by Eric Clapton
@txswim247 i don't think this was made specifically to offend epileptics.. seems out there.
Sounds like a track off of Beasts From a Silk Womb by Univore.
The girls in this video seem to be having a difficult time making up their minds. I can relate. Like the other night I couldn't decide on what blouse to wear with these new awesome pants I got. Anyway, pressure from men like this doesn't help.
how did they get the American Apparel girls under their control? Dov Charney is gonna be pissed.
shit....what is that? :))) sound, video...and of course the man with the might:)
This is Donald Farmer's favorite video.
Six girls against one Village Person. I would have thought they could win easily.
Underrated comment

Feeling indecisive?
@rockey7773 How sad.
Txswim247 I personally really don't like epileptics at all, I have met several and all of the,
HARD GAY COMMANDS YOU.

I think it's,about how, guys can get upset with girls, who seem to be,teasing them
lmfao yup

WHAT is with the comments here lmao 😂
All I see is a music video about women's cramps.
Sounds good, however video is not appropriate. I am not featuring it.
This is what happens when you film on a NO budget scenario. You don't get a gaffer.
@steadyclout But how is this art?
I take it the epileptic seizures are a metaphor for something... what I don't know. it's way too abstract for me. ya lost me guys. fail.
Seems like the girls in this video are sprawled on the floor because of their period pains..
Bruce Almighty?

how am I supposed to take a band like this seriously? complete and utter turn off.
It sound as a mutant of the (pre-1983) Alan Parson Project and City Boy with JJ Cale invited at the guitar...
