One of my all time favorite movie scenes. Cage the Elephant does a great cover of this song, but the Wreckless Eric version will always be my favorite. Will Ferrell at his best, and I fell in love with Maggie G. because of this movie.

Only two chords kind of a fun one
As I was perusing the Vudu $.4.99 Weekend Deals there were an unusual amount of good movies to own . Even at the decent price I could've picked about 10 movies but I really didn't want to spend $50 . It was a difficult decision and like most people I suppose I buy movies I have seen before but had not seen in a while. I had never seen Stranger Than Fiction before . I watched the preview and decided to buy it over movies more familiar to me. Really good movies too like Vertigo, Donnie Brasco. Leap Year, Far and Away. Harold and Kumar Go to White Castles, L.A. Confidential, Midnight Run and more. So i ended up with Stranger Than Fiction and The Odd Couple ( Lemon & Matthau).
I'm an older guy so there's a lot more good movies in my head than most of you reading this. I did not regret my 2 choices. I watched this right away and this scene was wonderful. Now I have lived through the punk rock era and in particular was a big Elvis Costello fan and the guys usually associated with Stiff Records but I either never knew of or had forgotten the song Whole Wide World but I knew it had to be from the punk era because of the references to punk rock when Harold was deciding on which guitar to buy. So to make this long story a tiny bit shorter, you are never too old to discover new joys such as this movie and the song Whole Wide World by Wreckless Eric.

@@plushman3685 you guys are doing it wrong then. Guitarist for many years and it worked so often it's disgusting. Of course I was playing in the late 70's and 80's but it still works even to this day - I brought home a beautiful girl after my gig last night. You have to play the right stuff the right way - at the right time. And you have to sing as well most of the time.
I suppose "girl" should have been "woman", but she's still a looker.

I recommended this movie to someone because I love the hidden meaning it has. They watched it, returned my DVD and said it was the dumbest movie they've ever seen.
Some people can’t see past the end of their own nose. Same thing with the movie “her” It is such a beautiful movie but so many people can’t get past the “guy falling in love with a computer” thing.. Those people have no depth.
