Thanks Rick! Yes, I really dig how he uses Messiaen's third mode of limited transposition. I think Allan calls it the symmetrical scale in his REH video. He uses it at 0:56 and at 1:07.

It's one thing to conquer the physical/technical aspect of this (which is quite a feat in and of itself) but just consider.... Allan improvised this. It isn't so much that Allan played this, but it's the fact that a human mind conceived of it in the first place which is truly incredible.
That's art and a true artist. It's all very well to imitate copy, emulate, but to actually originate something from another place, that's unique. That's genius.

This is mind blowing from the point of view of the improvisation itself, and also the unbelievably accurate transcription which is just a towering feat! Not only the chops, but the ear, and the sheer will to put in the work to nail it; you win at guitar at the highest level!
Well, I have a confession to make. My friend Joe Britton transcribed this however I made a few minor edits but these are subjective since we don't have a video of Allan playing it. I always had trouble figuring out this super fast repeated phrase that Allan plays at the climax of his solo with rolling toms underneath but thankfully Joe was able to hear it. Glad you enjoyed the performance!
You're the only guitarist I've heard that really caught the sound, phrasing and style of A. Holdsworth. Congrats and God bless 👍

The line at 1:34 is just to good ! Sound so ''off'' and dissonant but fit so perfectly. The whole solo is a great anthology of Holdsworth's genius.

The “off” effect is more ritmycally than harmonically. The rhythm is insane! But here are 3 notes and one note “out” ( but is no out because it’s the sharp five that would be the Eb Major Bepop Scale)

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!! I so envy your talent and dedication. The economy of you left hand movement is the best I have seen. I would argue it is more economic than Allan’s, but he did have pretty big hands. I've seen Allan four times here in the UK (1986, 1989, 1994 and 2008) and met him on three occasions. His legacy is huge and your flawless execution of his work are helping the musical community understand the depth of his compositional and improvisational genius.
