Just imagine Prof. Hudson' s lectures and books are a must read in the economic, business and political schools. The world would be a more equitable habitat.
Unearned income of all sorts needs to be taxed very progressively. I think there should be a 100% tax on Networth over $10 Mil and a 100% tax on incomes over 500k. If one's expenses require a worth or income above that, then you need to relocate.

Some thinkers visible in the public domain are true and with a good dose of honesty, they are few and far between, Micheal Hudson is one of them, capable to explain what history is telling us we ignore magnificently. Thanks to professor Hudson for his knowledge and dedication to explain the real world which is what the people at large need most and lacking sadly.
11:11 exactly. You can't have a consumer based economy while simultaneously impoverishing consumers. But the point of consumption, for the rich, is indebtedness and enslavement.
Troy, my understanding is, the US, with 5% of the world's population, consumes 20% of its resources(natural & human). If China which has 4 times the population of the US, was consuming resources at the same rate as the US... this would mean the US & China would be consuming ALL the resources of our big rock called earth, and there would be NOTHING left for everyone else on Earth, aka Urantia.
Enlightening to grasp that the economic forces of today have followed us since Grecian era & even before. The idea that wealth will aggregate to a few to create an oligarchy as a pattern of human behavior is foundational. The notion that strong governance is needed to curb this activity has been pounded out of most of us in the west. A strong leader such as a king or political movement to ensure that prosperity is steered to the populace has been trashed as "anti-democratic." Amazing that the same language & ideas were promulgated more than 2000 years ago! Yes, we still live under the Roman Empire.
The lecture has clearly shocked the listeners, as it should. The questions struggle to relate the radical conceptual prespective to our conventional understanding of the current crisis. Thank you Professor Hudson, I am enlightened but not confident that the path ahead will change much until classic socialism regains currency in the world.
You got to figure that the conventtional idea of what capitalism is a machine that destroys capital..... The resistance to the western world, which is destroying captial, is creating capital... To be sure that social darwinism where socieites that create capital will be come dominant over those who destroy capital... The inflection point is NOW!
The reason why over a million United States (US) citizens died as a result of the coronavirus, and 38 million live in poverty today is because the US is an oligarchy. If the US were a democracy, her citizens’ human rights would be de-privatized, instead of being at the mercy of US oligarchs. The 99% will need to educate ourselves in order to force the 1% out of the US government. If we don’t, we will continue to have the same old American Nightmare now, tomorrow and forever! We the People must stop the US Nightmare!
I just started reading "The Age of Federalism 1788-1800" which is about the founding regime of the United States. One of the themes is how the founders saw themselves in terms of the Roman republic, not only in their thinking but in their dress, architecture, etc. The authors compare this generation with that of the 1830s. When we read Tocqueville we recognize in some way the origins of our democracy today. But the America of the 1790s was utterly remote from us, and the book is about the project of federalism which they embarked on and which quickly turned to bitter passion, not least over the problem of a society dominated by a Treasury.
Long ago in college one of my professors had family members who knew Michael Hudson's father as they were labor organizers and activists within the socialist political parties. Many of the were jailed, one of his aunts became such a feared labor organizer that she was declared insane and moved from state to state into each state's insane asylum by the FBI, the FBI thus escaping the risk of her being afforded her civil rights in regular court.

Everything Hudson does is so charming. I know he jokes about those who subscribe to neoclassical and neoliberal economics as “autists” but I’m pretty sure he’s autistic. He doesn’t bother arguing with dumb people because he knows it’s a lost cause, he reiterates points over and over (the best way to learn something you can’t practice is via repetition, so he is teaching us to mastering lol) and he rarely makes off the cuff comments. Love him
Hudson is wrong. They perfectly know what raising interest rates would do to the banks. They are raising interest rates to keep the dollar strong. A strong dollar is necessary for the security and standard of living of NATO nations. Any look at the recent news about currency deals will show that something has to be done.
I just love how you can hear it in Michael’s tone…..”Okay, shut the fuck up now so I can start my talk”. He has such little patience for babel and nonsensical ramblings, lol.
Right on Michael , perfect tour of economic reality
Just imagine Prof. Hudson' s lectures and books are a must read in the economic, business and political schools. The world would be a more equitable habitat.
Prof Dr Michael is da best!
Like Michael, I believe compound interest rates need to be eliminated; simple interest will work.

AMAZING HONESTY
Thank you Michael.

Back to the future? A return to modernity. I can't wait.

thank you so much Michael Hudson for the IQ boost

Finally i`ve been shown the the dismal sciences` naked emperor, ten thousand thanks Mr. Hudson!
21:55 and of course,v"citizens united" made economic power, political power, which shuts out the poor altogether.
Very interesting. Thanks
Post-modernity was just a form of colonialism-imperialism.
Great
What don't they teach this in school. Thank you.
First half with Mr Hudson alone was lecturing was great but with all these other people involved is not too good. Just let him speak. 😅😂
Amen
Still a long way to go with internet connectivity :)
The more things change, the more they stay the same 😅

Open more banks, 100 more banks per country.
Too many talking heads that together aren't worth a Michael Hudson. Why?
Does the paucity of comments mean that Prof. Hudson is hard to attack? The shrewd opponents do not argue as it only calls more attention.
Their paucity is not your paucity. Theirs` is profound gratitude to Hudson, yours is what it is.
@@rodbennett1133 I like Hudson too. You missed my point which is that he seems to make opponents afraid to argue.
Thanks Eric, my mistake. I believe he's impossible to attack.
I think you’re right. Anyone who argues with Hudson would be forced to address some shit they would rather no one ever hear about
