he was born in Minneapolis and his dad was the newspaper editor for the local Teamsters strike that shutdown the city. So his dad got thrown in the federal prison as being - I don't know - treason or communist or something. Yes Michael started out in music training in college - so he goes back to the root cause from ancient civilization. Very excellent research for sure.

Really????? Guess you haven't been paying attention.
      xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Then we have this from Micael Hudson speaking to Wolff directly on "Dialogue Works" in January of this year. ( two 90-minute joint interviews )
Michael Hudson: "Fortunately, I’ve written all about this in my book, Killing the Host. What is Capitalism? What we have today is not the capitalism that we had either When Richard and I went to school or in the 19th century, the kind of capitalism that everyone was talking about in the 19th century, both from Adam Smith and Ricardo through Marx and everyone else, was industrial capitalism.
The whole idea was that when they talked about capital, they were talking about industrial capital. They weren’t talking about land or rent, they weren’t talking about monopolies, they weren’t talking about finance. Discussed this in volume two three. But he ( Marx ) said, I don’t have to talk about rent and monopolies in finance. Industrial capitalism is going to get rid of that in order to become a low-cost economy and in order to compete with other economies."
Hudson had to repeat a variation of this in the second interview and why what exists is NOT CAPITALISM. Wolff offered no argument or challenge either time but seems to have suffered an immediate memory loss regarding this acknowledgment and went right back to his "It's (undefined ) capitalism's fault," which is downright embarrassing for him and his audience who claim that Hudson and Wolff "are their two favorite economists" which is not possible since their understanding of history and economics is in direct conflict on so many points. Hudson's experience and work in both areas expose Wolff as the "pretender" he is. ( This correction was repeated a third time in July. )
      xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
This interview also begins with the same explanation again.

      Words.
Without people willing to stand up to the direction our supposed "leaders" are taking us (down a long dark corridor), it's no different than any other speech, analysis, video, propaganda, or pamphlet.
Words, without action- the very reason the US will be surpassed by the growing strength of the Russian, Chinese, and in general eastern nations because they communicate amongst themselves instead of like the US which dominates.
This will have a irreversible and devastating effect on the whole of the US.
But few can understand the situation-
Which within a few years will be thrown into catastrophe from climate, social, economic, and environmental issues not yet seen in recent years or ever.

    • @idepartasair
      @idepartasair Месяц назад

@@rdallas81 Absolutely correct. My husband and I are out on the streets of our area every weekend, attempting to get people to discuss the current situation and what to do about it in person, and they all treat us like crazy people. They wave us off, duck their heads down in fear and shame, and either stay silent or state that they don't discuss politics. Even law enforcement and politicians want nothing to do with real action. People are so afraid to speak about anything other than the weather, their vacations, and their profits. How did we reach a point at which openly discussing the state of our nation is taboo? I'm surprised that your comment is even still here.

Investing in quality stocks with long-term potential is a good strategy, but it can be challenging for the average person to do this on their own. Not sure why this guy seems to think it was two guys talking, when really it was basically Michael Hudson talking to himself for an hour and a half. Maybe the most insightful comment you had the entire time was a small laugh at his joke about Freud and sex. Other than that you just asked almost exactly the same questions as you did on one of your previous episodes with him. I really have no idea why he keeps coming on to your show, other than because he must realize you have a remedial understanding of his work and Capital.

His interpretation of history is interesting. He uses the example of the scythe to talk about egalitarianism and limiting the power of the 1%. Aristotle uses that same example to talk about how tyrants (who are the most powerful members of the 1%) can keep power against democratic or oligarchic insurrections.

I've been trying to understand economics the last couple years, and I really like Michael Hudsons work. Also reading David Graeber's Debt: The First 5,000 Years. And lots of marxist things showing so many holes in the mainstream economics/pro capitalism explanations of how an economy works. And one major theme I'm seeing in my reading, is that a lot of the foundations of economics are non-scientific Just-So Stories like what you'd see from a the bad kind of evolutionary biologist. And they're justified by cherry picking the occasions where they work on in favor of the theory and ignore all the situations where the explanations don't match reality.

If you will read the Bible you will find the institution of the Jubilee years also there. And Jesus, who said that he wanted to recover ancient traditions, seems to want to reinstitute it, in fact in his main prayer he says "forgive us our debts as we also forgive our debtors", which is how it sounds from the original Greek text. "Strangely" the English version translates it instead "and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us", removing the word "debt". I don't think it's a case. In any case also the churches who use the original version with debt tend to interpret it only allegorically, neglecting the literal "revolutionary" meaning behind it.
