I had a classmate who would use the word in every sentence. Almost every sentence back in elementary, he basically used it as an adjective for everything. Plus no one says the word (mostly) to refer someone for being disabled or a 'slur'/slur instead refer someone who is stupid. Anyone saying you can not use this word on any given context, has (in my experience) slip up with this word. Its not even remotely close to being like any other slur and debatably stupid can be regarded as a slur in many fronts. In fact most times people do not even call you those words, they'll just call you disabled with a mean spirited meme or worst. I never take twitter/tumblr seriously with this. Always seems they never dealt with actual toxic people offline or online lol, always appears they are just toxic in a different side of the coin.

I had a classmate who would use the word in every sentence. Almost every sentence back in elementary, he basically used it as an adjective for everything. It was just a normal word like stupid or idiot back then. Can't believe I've grown up to see a word so casually used as a kid become something so taboo as an adult. The world is a weird place. A word you safely use today can become banished to the shadow realm tomorrow and you along with it for ever saying it even when it was acceptable at some point in time.

I think the r word is only offensive when you say it directly to one person, but when it was said at a group my brain did not take direct offense to it because I knew that obviously not all 100% of TommyInnit's audience are neurodivergent. I feel it is only when the insulting logic is somewhat close to the truth, or framed as a common misconception or stigma that makes it hurt the most.
i have varied opinions but i think most of the harm comes because you using it as an insult, which links the two intrinsically. it used to be medically accepted, but then people started using it to imply that to be disabled or neurodivergent is to be less than
