I almost forget about the business signage until I drive to other states. It seems to be pretty low key all over North Carolina really. When we drove through Texas I was so shocked by the flashing lights everywhere on all the signs!! So crazy!
Note that the MacGregor (27511) side of Cary is VERY different from the Preston (27513) side of Cary. If you are looking for easier access to Raleigh, larger lots with mature trees, most of the medical facilities including Cary's only hospital, and a much lower chance of having your car stolen, you should focus on the MacGregor side of town. If you are looking for more Southern Charm, many more of the local natives live in 27511 as well. I have lived in Cary for over 35 years and the two sides of town are as different as night and day.
Hi Ellen Very good video. A few suggestions: 1. Since this video is for "newbies", please don't use acronyms like RTP, Research Triangle Park, per Google. 2. Leave wording up a lot longer to give viewers time to read and absorb it. 3. Leave visuals like maps up a lot longer on the screen. You showed a map of Bond Park but the map wasnt up long enough for my eyes to spot Bond Park and see where it is in relationship to surrounding areas. Frustrating. Ellen, it's great that you know Cary inside and out. Just remember many of your viewers do not. Thanks for the video.

There is a Facebook group where you can look for roommates. I’ve also seen sites like roomies.com but I don’t know anything about them but they look pretty useful! Sorry I wasn’t able to help more!
Do you find that since the older communities in South Cary (Lochmere/Regency) are zoned to lower ranked schools there seem to be less young families living in the area? I keep hearing that West Cary is the place for young families but I really like the vibe in South and Central Cary. :) It’s important for us to find an active neighborhood filled with kids.
Actually, no I don't think it makes a difference at all. School rankings are not the best measurement of school quality. I always recommend people call and talk to the principal of a school. That usually gives you a better idea. But to answer your question, I don't think those specific rankings make the area less desirable. They are honestly some of the most competitive areas in the whole Triangle. In the most recent analysis done of how high offers are over list price by zip code, the Lochmere zipcode was #1 out of all 66 zip codes in the Triangle.
I would recommend Clayton, Knightdale and Wendell. All are much more affordable than Cary and very nice towns! I have videos of all of them. You can find them in this playlist: ruclips.net/p/PL-ReNY3L6T3Yv4sak4f4Az8dpiSL6zA7j
That’s not true. There are some really nice neighborhoods out there. But it is definitely not as convenient to many things in the Triangle so people need to understand that when they are moving from far away.
Really enjoy living in Cary. Parks and areas have amazing facilities. Ball fields are immaculate. Schools are ok. I don’t agree with the zoning. Makes no sense that my kids go to Athens but Middle Creek is right down the road less than 10 minutes while Athens is 25 minutes away. Mayor has pushed ridiculous mask mandates. He needs to be voted out soon. Koko Booth is pretty nice. July 4 is fun. From Cary we can get just about anywhere we want to go in about 20 minutes.

I visited Cary from the first time last weekend from NJ. I told my wife this a great place to live life. It is a goal to move there now.
It’s really beautiful here!! Let me know if you need any help!
The Cary planning department is awesome! I love the Greenway, but something you didn't mention, the business signage is super minimum!

Agreed! Love the video. Also worth mentioning is how streets with streetlights have signs before you get to them! I love this feature.
Really cool info.. I have lived in Apex now for 9 years and I agree with what you say here
Glad you enjoyed it!

How do you recommend Woodham Circle, and Gettysburg Drive, neighborhoods?
Both really nice areas! You can walk to downtown Cary from Woodham and Gettysburg is over near Bond Park, which is beautiful.
@@EllenPitts 👍💜💛😍
Are there any towns near Cary (within 30 mins drive) that are more affordable (less than 350K) and good for retirees?
