    This happened to my 2015 on both doors. Your video turned a dreaded job into a piece of cake.
    I tried my mechanical stapler but not enough power to drive the staples. I picked up a similar pneumatic stapler at walmart with 1/4" staples which worked perfectly.
    The job turned out great. Thanks for the video.

    Your video on this fix is by far the best I've seen. Had this problem on our 2015 front passenger door. Local Ford dealer would not attempt repair, wanted over $800 for new panel. No other video addresses the 8 white door clips. I felt like I was going to break the panel trying to pull it off, but eventually it came off with a very hard pull with no damage. Two white clips remained in the door but came out easily with the Harbor Freight blue plastic trim removal tools. Our panel had the raised plastic ridge which made stapling difficult. The staple gun slipped often and many staples did not seat right, and had to be pulled and done again. Unable to find 3/16" leg staples. I used 1/4" leg staples and none came through the front side. Wish I would have found this video before I did this repair. Thank you!

    For everyone asking:
    You can buy the exact Ford/Rotunda kit used in the video to repair this, the part number is: SNSU502DT-PKG. The kits comes with staples and gun. The staples are 3/8 crown with 3/16 leg length. The specific staples used in this video are Spotnails 87003. Hope this helps!

    Thank you! My 2015 has this issue on the driver’s side. Ford said they wouldn’t fix it because my warranty was out. I can fix this myself because of this video!

    I have 2015 Ford Explorer with the same problem. I just did some internet searches and found yours. I will try this. I have a small compressor and pneumatic stapler. I will now go look for some 3/16" staples. Another video said 1/4" staples. I like your suggestion and will look for those first. If not available, I may try the 1/4" staples. Anyway, this seems like a good fix for the problem I am having and want to thank you for going to the trouble to record your work.. Thank a bunch. You probably just save me a TON of money!

    • @FordBossMe

      3/16 works the best but this is a permanent fix once you do it it will not come back on them so you're in good shape going the route you're going
      I appreciate your feedback on this and if you don't mind subscribing to the channel that would help me out greatly

    I'm surprised you don't use a glue first to tack it down first, but staples do obviously work. Great video !

    My 2015 Ford Explorer - drivers side panel separated within a couple months of purchase in 2015. Never fully resolved with dealer. They glued it - temporary- looks awful. Thank you for video.

    A very good tutorial. I would add a couple of things: (1) Be mindful of how the top of the panel fits inside the channel on the door as you're removing and replacing the panel. (2) I used a spring loaded stapler with 1/4 inch legs and it worked fine as long as I stapled against a steel plate so all energy went into the stapling and not the bounce. I used the Surebonder Triggerfire from Lowes, I can see the problem is a failure of or too little adhesive.

    Yesterday I followed these instructions in the video and repaired my wife's passenger side door on her 2014 Explorer. However, instead of using a Pneumatic Stapler (air) the 3/16 staples, I used the Ryobi Electric stapler with 1/4'' staples. It worked perfectly fine! Also, prior to stapling it, I applied some Gorilla Super Glue to assist with repairing the door. Just be sure to add some strong surface under the door where you will be stapling because you can potentially crack a porting of the lip that you are stapling... Ask me how I know lol.... But all in all, it turned out to be a success !

    Thanks for doing this video. I have a 2014 and there's a recall and this happened. I'm hoping I don't have to pay for it. I bought it new and it doesn't even have 30k miles on it yet.

    • @waltccc4
      @waltccc4 2 года назад

      It was a 5 year or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first! I was just over the miles when I took mine in to the dealer. They wouldn't honor the recall!

      3/16" staples are hard to find. They are on Amazon. I am thinking of trying the 1/4' SS staples I have, but add a strip of thin cardboard (like shirt cardboard) to take up some of that length. Similar to what would be done on a seam when sewing. Might t as take two layers. Test first.

    three questions: What guage staples are you using 18 or 20 guage? Are you using 7/16" or 3/8" wide crown staples with a 3/16" leg length? Do you have you compressor set around 100 PSI?

      I don't know what the air pressure set at whatever the shop air pressure is I'm not sure you're going to have to play around with that and find out maybe 90 PSI a hundred PSI I have no clue

    So ticked off about this right now... mine have been like this for years and dealer didn’t tell me these were a recall until last week when I asked about the rear linkage again to see if they finally had parts in stock... now today AFTER I dropped off tell me mine is no longer in age/mileage range to qualify and want $130 per door to fix.

    hey i tried this with crown staples and it broke the plastic. is this because theyre too narrow, or is the plastic on my door cover brittle? i tried using a hand staple as i dont own a regular pneumatic stapler and that didnt work either...not strong enough. TIA!

    What type of shop do I search for that does this? Why is this so common with the ford explorer? Mine appeared to be glued. Maybe that's it.

    • @FordBossMe
      @FordBossMe  3 года назад

      They are glued from the factory and then they come apart because of the glue being bad and the best place to take it is to a dealership

    Pretty decent video, however you skipped most of the actual repair. You went from removing the door panel right to putting the last couple of staples in. It would have been nice if you actually showed from the beginning your method of pulling the material tight and stapling. That would be like me doing a painting tutorial and showing the first couple of brush strokes and then skipping to the finished painting with me signing at the end. Kind of defeats the purpose of doing a repair tutorial when you don't actually include the repair in the tutorial. Haha

      Sometimes I don't have enough time in one day to get everything that everybody wants so there is some imagination involved and removing the door was the hardest part so be thankful for that
