    I just thought I’d mention that I only use my 50Sii single point AFS, and it is very quick and focuses really well even in low light eg 12800 30th f3.5.
    I would never use face detect or AFC at a wedding.
    From me, highly recommended in AFS… it’s quick.

      Thanks for your comments. I've not yet handled the 50SII. Anyhow, I'd like to know why you never use face detect at a wedding. Is it because of DOF issues or simply because of the 50SII focus accuracy? Overall, my one concern is the autofocus and its accuracy. Reports suggest it is not generally good though you are satisfied. Any thoughts welcome.

    Thanks again for another great review. You are one of my “go-to” reviewers on RUclips so I always appreciate your perspectives. I’m interested in why you think the Fuji menu system is better than Nikon’s. I have both and I find Nikon’s much better, especially given that I can control it via touch operation as well as via my Z7’s d-pad.

      The placement of the items isn't very logical IMO. It is very difficult to guess what is in the photo or video shooting menu and what is in the pencil or custom settings menu. There is also a lot of quirks in UI such as having to confirm every change in i-menu. Fujifilm menu is better and more logically organized IMO.

    How would you consider the image quality difference between the 50sii and a full frame camera like the Sony a7 IV? Will there be a big difference with good lenses?

    Appreciate your thoughtful review -- the GFX 50S II is thoroughly tempting. More than the price, it's the compactness and weight of this kit. Frankly, the 35-70 is pretty much the entire reason why I would choose to upgrade. I've gotten used to the weight of the "Red Badge" zooms on the X-mount and this new 35-70 + the camera is about the same weight as some of those zooms would be with my XT-3. I have a question for me if you'd be inclined to answer it: like how much better is the output of this new 35-70 on the GFX 50S II than that of the 16-55 f/2.8 on an XT-3 or an XT-4? Is it jaw-droppingly better or is the difference more subtle?

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  2 года назад +2

      There will be a huge difference in image quality. I don't think that 35-70 is a good reason to upgrade though. If you are looking for something compact and lightweight, high-res full frame camera such as A7R IV A will be more suitable for you.

    • @cinqo7
      @cinqo7 2 года назад

      @@TheHybridShooter so the huge difference in image quality is made possible because of the 50mp count, be it the gfx 50s ii or the 7riv and not the better image quality of Fuji’s mf cameras?

    Thank you for the review. I want to ask you if GFX 50S II is good for street photography where there is not too much action but still people walking or kind of in some movement. Thank you in advance.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  2 года назад +1

      Depends on the specific situation. I generally wouldn't recommend this camera for street photography. 100S or high-res full frame cameras are more suitable for that.

    Hello, I listened with curiosity to your review as I have a medium format Pentax 6x7 and still occasionally use it. If you have seen printed photos from that camera how would you compare them with that of this Fujifilm?

    • @kennethwilliamsinc

      I used a Pentax 67 a lot back in the late 90s. I’m my opinion the GFX 50 is slightly better than 67 chromes because it is a much cleaner file. I bought a 50s and had it for a few months before I upgraded to a 100 at the time. The 100 files look very close to 4x5 in prints. The 50 and 100 look close (it’s really hard to define close) on screen but it’s a very noticeable difference in prints when it’s a lot of detail in a scene. Hate I sold my 100 for a Sony A1 but I wanted the versatility of a hybrid and I couldn’t afford to keep both. GFX 100 is like Thanos from the Avengers. Files are super good over anything else in the price range.

    Fuji will have my money with next medium format camera, hopefully BSI sensor with 1, 1.5 iso stops better and better AF. For my weddings. GFX 100s files are too big to handle at this point.
    My a7R3 will do the job for 2-3 years, hopefully. And my x100v will be the fun stuff.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  2 года назад +1

      I don't expect the next GFX camera to offer smaller file sizes, 100+ MP is most likely the future of GFX format.

    • @doogieham
      @doogieham 2 года назад

      Totally agree. I had a GFX 100S on loan from Fujifilm for a week and, although I loved shooting with it, the raw files took too long to load for me in Capture One. I wish there was a way, like with my Z7, that I could specify smaller-sized raw files in the camera and keep the 100 mp for special occasions. Then, Fujifilm would have my money for sure.

    Great review, but the one thing i cannot agree is the low light performance... i havent used this camera, but i have dowloaded dozens of images from this sensor and its WAY cleaner than a Sony a7rIV, theres no comparison. Im curious to know how you got better results with the Sony. I find this sensor (be it a hasselblad, a 50r, 50s or this 50s ii) to be better than most full frame cameras in low light

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  2 года назад +2

    I only wish this had a new sensor with phase detection and faster readout. The 100S is probably perfect but more expensive and I would prefer smaller files.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  2 года назад +7

      GFX100S already is bargain, considering what it can do, so we probably won’t get that kind of package cheaper anytime soon.

      Yeah, if only wishes were horses, but, in a world where consumer products have lesser and lesser value for the purchasers, Fuji has knocked it out of the park with the 50SII and 100S. Wish I could afford the 100S. Maybe I'll end up with a Z6II for video and GFX50S when I finally move on from my D810 if I am able to pull off the expense.

  • @fellowcitizen

    I'm glad it's here, but I'd spring the extra for 100S if I were to spend ar such a scale. I recall that the S1R had some better metrics than the 50mpx of the predecssor. Between that and Foveon it's difficult to justify GFX, but they're beautiful machines.
    Note: The 44x33 sensors are ~70% larger.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  2 года назад

      Yes, I also recommend paying the extra for 100S if possible. S1R sensor isn't BSI either, so something with high-res BSI Sony sensor is better alternative to 50 MP 44mm.

    Sony has a full frame sensor on an aps-c size mount that is why it is so small compare to GFX.I wish fuji make the mount a little bit smaller so that it will be more compact like what sony did to their e-mount system but then again it will cannibalize their aps-c cameras. It will be mainstream after some years when newer models came and older models will be more affordable.
