    Fun fact: The Gear Cube was originally called the Danger Cube, because the gears were sharp, and Oskar van Deventer, the creator of the puzzle, kept cutting himself by getting his fingers pinched between the gears.

      I also solved gear cube myself and a "breakthrough" moment was when I realized that every gear has 6 teeth, and 6 is not divisible by four... so turning a single side 8 times makes the cube "correct" but with gears 1/3 turns wrong... one more tome and it's 2/3, and the last time it goes back to normal.

    I've always felt lame for having given up on the original 3x3 so now, my whole approach is to figure every new puzzle out without any help no matter what. It's so much more rewarding. Even if my original solution is trash and I end up looking up better ones online _after_ I solve it myself at least once 😛

I recently taught one of my friends 2-look OLL and 2-look PLL, and I used your way of explaining in your videos (as well as my own ways) to teach him, and he learned it in two days.
    He was impressed by how fast I could turn and solve the cube (even though I’m averaging around 25 seconds), and that’s why he wanted to learn some of those algorithms.
    Anyways, I like teaching people stuff I know since it makes me learn it better and we can have a good time together, and when I’m teaching people the Rubik’s cube your videos are extremely helpful, since I learned almost everything I can from you.

    Just FYI, the Ivy Cube is just a pyra, which is why you can do the Sune-like alg like pyra that cycles 3 edges
    The gear cube can be solved by solving the corners and then using 2 algs i wont spoil if u want to figure it out

  • @rustypete0461

    the coin triangle thing seems the easiest since unless you follower rules like you can only spin it once per corner turn then its simple af

    A general rule for solving any corner turning puzzles is to solve the corners first and use commutators for the edges. This works for many puzzles.

    For the 2x2x3, when you need to swap the two middle edges, just do R2 E2 R2
    The Coin Pyraminx is like an Ivy Cube in a Pyraminx.
    J Perm really needs to work on his non-WCA solving skills.

  • @JLCubing
    @JLCubing 4 года назад +2

    I INVENTED A 2x2 ALGORITHM!!! It is technically a V-Perm on a 3x3, except (U' D) move set. when we reach the U' D set of moves, I turned the cube left and continued the algorithm. This only works when, on the yellow side, two pieces that are diagonal to each other are solved, and the other two aren't solved. I held the cube near one solved piece and did the alg.

    • @JLCubing
      @JLCubing 4 года назад

      idk if this was already an alg for 2x2, but I just listed it to make sure. I used this while doing Ortega, and it helped.
