  • For kidney patients, managing protein intake is crucial to maintain kidney function while meeting nutritional needs. Limiting high-protein foods like red meat, poultry, and dairy can reduce strain on the kidneys. Instead, opt for high-quality, low-protein sources such as fish, eggs, tofu, and legumes. Consult with a registered dietitian to determine individual protein needs based on kidney function, age, weight, and other factors. Monitoring phosphorus and potassium levels is also essential, as kidney patients may need to restrict these nutrients. Overall, a balanced diet tailored to kidney health, including appropriate protein intake, supports overall well-being and kidney function.

    But very good information

    I partially agree with this info.
    With Vegeterian diet, even consuming 2 bowl dal (even rajma/ bhatt ki dal) + paneer/ dahi would hardly meet 0.6 gm/ kg body weight protein.
    Also, no one consumes paneer everyday

    • @kidneydoctorbhandari1014

      You are right vegetarian diet always has lower amount of protein if you calculate pulses only.History is slightly different , vegetarian people were also had great strength. The strongest man in world is vegetarian name Patrik Baboumian. You can see his version about vegetarian diet.In Netflix there is a documentary “THE GAME CHANGER “with proof. If you sees even among animals Elephants,Rhinos, hippos, great apes are strongest and vegetarians.
      I think pulses are not the only source of protein in vegetarians in fact, all food products like milk or even wheats Rice also had some amount of protein. Our body dead cells are also source of amino acids if you do blood test of a vegetarian the total serum protein, and albumin is not less than non-vegetarian.
      In summary vegetarian also consumes sufficient protein that is required by the body. There could be some instances or situation where we might need animal protein as a beneficial. If you wish I can share you the comment on vegetarian protein, and non-veg protein in our books on guidelines in chronic kidney disease

      Still, the final say is more data is required to say that vegetarian protein is helpful in slowing the progression of chronic kidney disease. Thanks.

      @@kidneydoctorbhandari1014 thank you sir for your comment 🙏.
      Yes, please if you can share more info on vegetarian protein sources for CKD patients ,it would be helpful.
      I didn't mean to question you but what I wanted to say is that if a patient is vegetarian then even if he/she consumes heavy lentils with little bit dairy product (and not any other protein source) then this much amount of protein would not exceed the recommended protein dose in CKD

      @@__ab4520 you are right. Even many doctors believes that if kidney disease patients are on vegetarian protein only always eat less than recommended protein. There is no need of restriction on vegetarian protein.

    • @kidneydoctorbhandari1014
      @kidneydoctorbhandari1014  2 дня назад

      @@ujjawalsrivastava739 in chronic kidney disease protein restriction is required until patient is on dialysis. animal proteins have high percentage of protein per serving as compared to plant protein. For broad purpose two bowels of plant-based protein are required. are usually people take less than two bowl of pulses, Then there is good choices of pulses according to stages of chronic kidney disease.
      However, plant-based protein are much beneficial as they improves metabolic acidosis also.

      Kidney patients can take apple, guavas, papaya, pears (naspati).other fruits may cause high potassium particularly banana and oranges.
      For same reason dry fruits should be avoided but limited amount eg 2 pieces of akharot or badam can be taken in a day.
