Qué preciosidad!! Qué recuerdos me trae esta música. Grande Guridi!
Very attractive set which mixes infectious euphoria with poignant lyricism. Beautifully sensitive orchestral writing throughout.
Lively lovely melodic 🎶
@@debjahdo1889 -- Very exciting....rare....BRAVO from San Agustinillo !
What a delightful & vivid collection from a composer who became famous & earned his living mostly by writing zarzuelas. The brilliant "Así cantan los chicos" is highly recommended.
A Masterful Composition! Short, intensely stunning Orchestration by Guridi…beautiful variety of styles & such expressions melodic treatment! Juanjo Meja certainly brings out the Basque flavors. Guridi & many Basque & Basque-Spanish composers have been overlooked until now. Guridi studied in Paris w D’ Indy at The Scola Cantorum, & also took composition
w Dukas. He was a pianist, but was as famous organist, studying also in Brussels & Cologne. He returned to Basque Country & composed in all genres.
His “A Phoenician Vessel,” “Adventures of Don Quixote,” & “Asi Cantan Los Chicos,” also on this album is worth wonderful listening, as are his beautiful Canciones. Guridi has been called “ The Iberian Respighi” by many, but many also say Guridi’s full Orchestral colors here in these folk treatments mix the best of late Romantic, Impressionism & a more individual, modernistic style.
Masterful, to be sure.
Thanks for the upload! The Spanish masters are overlooked so often, which is heartbreaking.
Amigo te doy toda la razón, el caso de Jesús guridi es sangrante, que poco reconocimiento ha tenido, y otro caso muy similar es el de Isaac Albéniz otra maravilla de compositor.
Guridi is Catalonian, not "Spanish". Please do not insult Catalonians by calling them "Spanish".
@@davidluck1678 Guridi was Basque.

Actually, I believe Jesus Guridi is Basque. But he spent much time in Barcelona & Madrid before returning to San Sebastián.
Terrific themes.
