Coughs, bangs, buzz, and other imperfections can distract from an otherwise flawless performance. In this video, RX guru Mike Thornton shows you how to remove them, using an acoustic guitar track as an example.
iZotope year by year releasing BANGIN programs for producers! Awesome!
People who say this costs to much 1 arnt sound guys, 2 dont understand just how powerful this software is and the pretty much limitless things you can do with it 3 When it comes to noise removal and preserving the audio source or even isolating audio, there is no equal to this software.... It all comes down to either you pay for the best of the best or stick with a meh product and the result will be such on a recording...
these videos always have the absolute most crisp audio
I love how the guys voice has zero treatment lmao you have a breath remover and de esser in front of you dude!
He has the perfect BBC accent.
I love love love this software! I can't live without it now.
Its for android as well?
Or need another app..
@@auramihai4853 It's standalone software. You clean audio in it - and then import it into your DAW. But probably you already know the answer. )))
Got this guy and x2 speed and still want to speed him up.
Check out spectralayers tutorials....waaaaay slower. Don't know why these tutorials have to be so slow.
Awesome. I have to use the buzz repair this evening on an acoustic guitar track. Thanks!
I much prefer Adobe Audition for cough removal and here’s why. The problem the RX approach (I have RX 4 advanced) is that it “borrows” information from either side of the problem area and substitutes that info in the problem area. This approach works fine in the example given here because the cough occurs in an area where the harmonics on either side of the problem match those in the problem area.
However, had the cough occurred in an area between, an area without harmonics, such as the between chords (say, just before the last chord), harmonics from the last chord would have been placed in the quiet area, producing a weird false start to the last chord.
Audition somehow softens the cough without adding new (and unwanted) harmonics to the “quiet” space around the unwanted cough. I would like RX to do something similar.
Neither program is perfect, but for removing coughs from live classical concerts, I have had more success with the very old Adobe program than the newer RX.
Thanks for sharing your experince and insight! Could you kindly tell me what you find works best for softening acoustic guitar squeaks between and in the middle of chords playing, as well as removing pick hitting the pickguard. Thanks and God Bless! Rob Ransom
@@1twangmaster RX still works great for that
@@san_dingus David my producer got it working. It's stellar! GOD Bless and thank you!
THANK YOU!!!! THIS HELPED ME TREMENDOUSLY!!! THIS TECHNIQUE EVEN WORKED IN THE STANDARD VERSION OF RX!!! THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!! BY THE WAY: What Mic and Processors and whatever else in your audio dialogue chain are you using for this video? It sounds ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
this dude is a wizard
Hello, can i remove huss-buzz noises on my distorted guitar caused by palm muting ?
Impressive, and what about the common problem „harsh coughs in dialogs“? How can I handle it in RX the best way?
Thank you
coolest thing ever !
Magic.
How do we get the program to learn the tone of a guy's voice and keep it while taking out clanks and bangs and such with no voice loss?
yeah,. tech isn't there yet.
@@xDarrell Thanks for the reply.
Using Ambience Match and EQ Match in RX 7 can get you there in some cases. It depends on what type of sounds you are removing and how much they cover the dialogue signal. It will vary case to case. Some will be easier to clean than others. If you want to send us your file to support@izotope.com, we'd be happy to take a listen and offer some suggestions.
@@iZotopeOfficial wow I am impressed, this is great support.
So for music samples that have broadband noise and you REALLY want to take noise out without the harmonics being screwed up, is this method also best for that?
How do I remove hissing Autofocus lens noises in my recorded videos?
For example if I have a Muddy area in 500 Hz of the vocal which module shall I use for better result? Or is it better in this case to use De-Huming ?
A basic EQ should probably get the job done if you're working on improving the quality sound of a vocal in that range. If you need to physically remove something across a whole file or part of a file in that range that shouldn't be there, then you could use RX.
Treat yourself and hit that 2x speed yall
best is the sound forge
I have been looking for a video to help me with this problem. I have digital copies of tape or reel-to-reel recordings from the 70's. The speaker is in a large meeting room and there must have been no carpet. His voice sort of vibrates when he talks loudly. I am new to audio restoration, what is a good method to pull down those loud vibrating tones without losing the loudness of him talking? I am using RX7 Standard. Thx.
I would use De-Reverb or Dialogue De-Reverb in RX 7 ADV if possible. If you do not have these modules you may be able to do some manual gain adjustments and EQing of the signal using the selection tools in the spectrogram editor. Locating manually what frequency bands are causing trouble and then adjusting just the EQ and gain of those selections. If you'd like, feel free to send us a copy of the recording to support@izotope.com and we'd be happy to take a listen and offer any other suggestions.
Thank you so much! You saved me!!!!! =)
I did a recording where a small speaker in a zoom recorder was in play back instead of record. The recording was made with a separate recorder and mics, but from time to time the zoom recorder peaks through and is audible. I had 5 men singing Gregorian Chant in a large church and the zoom some distance away from them- the zoom produced much of its signal around 1000hz and is only really audible at the ends of phrases in the chant. I have attempted to use the attenuate control to reduce the zoom recorder in play back, but it is not entirely effective. It either changes the color of the singers or does not remove enough of the zoom recorder. Could you give me any advice, help! Thx. #izotope #rx4 #audiorestoration
Hi pipe-organ! That does sound like a pretty difficult case! You may want to contact support@izotope.com, and feel free to e-mail a small sample of the audio you are looking to clean up. They can listen to it directly and give you some pointers!
I was really hoping you were going to say "If we don't come down hard on these clowns we are going to be up to our balls in jugglers"
I don't know why but you made me laugh so hard
JOB WELL DONE!!
and these glitches at the end of the trail?
So the track didn't just appear in Rx7(see iI'm not cutting video and jumping 10 steps ahead where everything just comes loaded already like your "RX5 magic show video") Doesn't copy and paste, doesn't import from session, doesn't import from file. File has the session and 400 takes, each take has 40 tracks,. Besides can't just go into a file, open a ptx, pick from all the edits from the wavs in each track so RX7 can load it into it's software because there is also 4 edits on each track, and 1 track is all I need to place into RX7. How am I supposed to get the track into rx7 if it doesn't accept drag drop from a ptx Pro Tools wav file in a session and drop in rx7 software>? I see alot of ozone videos how good they work but not one that works as any Ozone video is shown or explained in the directions either.
Hello Izotope Team! amazing software!
One question: is it possible to attenuate or remove a backgrounf voice from a main vocal dialogue?
A potential client asked me to remove ALL vocals and noise in the background, but what he wants is impossible, because the voices overlaps the main dialogue.....
Can this be done on Melodyne altoghether with RX?
I'm still trying to explain the client that what he wants is like to remove a face overlapping another face in Photoshop. It only can be done using a sample from the overlapped face, erase the masking one, and then do a composite between original face + sample of that same face from another shoot.
Anyway, there are people that believes that computers can do magic!
Could you tell me if it would be possible to remove fireworks noise with this software as I have a music file with lots of bangs and whizzes and I would like to remove them so I just have the music
Hi Robert Langham! It may be possible, though it is difficult to tell without listening to it, and that sounds like a tricky problem! Feel free to contact support@izotope.com, and send a small sample of the audio problem you are looking to repair. They can take a listen to it and give you some pointers!
I don't know what you took off, but the flaws were at the end of the trail still the same
no it wasnt there at the end post processing. listen carefully
This is recording studio izotope rx I mean daw????
Is it recording software I mean daw!???
Great video!
Wow... awesome
Now, how does this software stand when removing background noise to sound samples, lets say, birds chirping, crickets, wind?
easy, selelect the noise in spectral mode and delete
Nice work but this is RX4 "Advanced". Could RX4 do the same? Because the price difference between the two products is huge.
UltraChord all the features used in this video are available in both RX 4 standard and Advanced!
Thank you! In fact I found this out already by trying the demo, and have purchased the standard version.

Has anyone managed to squeeze an acapella from a song using this software thanks
Jonathan Burnside Izotope released a new version of this program. RX7 now has music rebalance which allows you to separate 4 components: vocals, bass, percussion, and others (the sounds that izotope does not identify as vocal, bass, or percussion). This allows for the isolation (acapella) or removal (instrumental) of vocals. Try for yourself and see the magic happen!
How to reduce input gain while recording? (By Izotope RX 6)
For recording into RX, you need to adjust your input gain via your hardware connected. I recommend going through an audio interface where you can adjust the gain with a simple knob.
I cant even open it and I paid 13 dollars. Where do you go to open it. It keep saying it can’t open
Hi, if you are having issues accessing any of your iZotope plug-ins, please reach out to our Customer Care team at support@izotope.com. Thank you!
Great!
freakin ehh, this software is expensive
You get what you pay for
I can hardly hear the "problem", it wouldn't bother me at all. Many great recordings have wee imperfections in them and they just don't matter.
+Chris John I hear - just - a guitar noise not a cough. The fact that we don't hear the same thing proves how small the sound is. Guitar noises due to hand movements on fretboard etc are part of the sound guitars make and don't need to be removed. IMO
*****
Sorry, what did you say?
+D Bruce man, that's definitely a cough..
ALBERTO BASSETTO the noise around 50+secs or so is definitely a guitar noise caused by the player moving his hand.
1. It's a cough. When was the last time you heard a cough on a top-level production. And yes, it's there and it's obvious. Listen on proper headphones.
2. Wether you SHOULD remove it or not is not the point of this video. Often times it's not even up for you to decide. It might be a client who can't live with it. This video merely shows the prowess of the software, nothing else.
