It can challenging to work with clips that have significant background ambience cut tight to the dialogue. It seems the only solution is the tedious search for bits of clean ambience to insert within the dialogue. I used the exact example I ripped of the same show, and the ambient noise even with trim at Max is very low, I need to boost the gain in my DAW why would this be?

I had another go, and found the ambient match seems to pick the lowest point of ambience, so if there any fade in before dialogue it takes that as the reference of ambience, I remedied this by stripping the audio closer to the dialogue so the ambience is consistent and then the 3db gain worked and a slight node alteration on the 2nd half for a nice balance.

There is a between version that has much of these features... RX6 Standard (vs. Advanced). It's $200 more, not $1,000 so I think you get a hell of a lot for the added price.
