    I learned about aronias when i lived in MN. Now trying to bring aronia appreciation back home to the PNW where most people haven't heard of them. Love aronia juice in my seltzer, and beautiful homemade aronia wine.

    Another great video! I grow mine in thickets to reduce maintenance. Unfortunately, it's floppy nature allows for competing vegetation. But on wetter sites, it's much more vigorous and a great competitor with Reed canary grass.

    Can you please tell me why my aronia Berry plant is shedding leaves, first they get a yellow spot on the leave side, then they fall. I live in Greece with pleasant Mediterranean climate

    I live in a zone 9 with alkaline soil. I noticed on the website it says up to zone 8. So I have never tried growing aronia. You say in the video it's widely adaptable. Do I have a good chance it will do well for me?

      They are bitter, but you can appreciate that knowing how healthy they are. I juice them and add to mixed drinks.

      @@annikaericksen379you have to freeze them to sweeten them up.

      Very astringent, but great for baking and juices.

    This is not native to the US? I bought at a nursery, said it was native to MI. Is that different varient?

      Was it red (Aronia arbutifolia), purple (Aronia prunifolia), or black (Aronia melanocarpa)?

    How aboit the aronia fruit? or berry,,is that edible?
    Does it grow on tropicsl country?

    • @annikaericksen379
      @annikaericksen379 Год назад

      The berries are edible, healthy but bitter. Native to eastern north America... I'm guessing tropical climate wouldn't be ideal, but I'm not the expert

    nice video- do deer eat them?

    • @RaintreeNursery
      @RaintreeNursery  Год назад +1

      Sure, deer eat everything, but the wilted leaves are poisonous so they usually keeps them at bay once they realize it.

      I put in 2 plants in the spring, and found out that the deer loved them. It was early enough in the year that I was able to fertilize and then put up some fencing to protect them, so they (mostly) recovered. Be proactive ...

    Except for the fruit, other parts of the plant such as the seeds and leaves are poisonous because they contain cyanide

      But the fruit has it seeds,, what if you accidentslly ingested the seed while eating the fruit?

    • @annikaericksen379
      @annikaericksen379 Год назад +1

      When I eat the fruit, I don't even notice any seeds in them. Hope any cyanide quantity is minimal.

      I think they are referring to elderberry, not aronia berry. Aronia berries do not have cyanide.
