Great to meet you Madison. I followed the tail end of your last through-hike and am following every day of your Border to Border CYTC. Nice to meet you, finally through your videos!
I live in Minneapolis and fishing the Mississippi river has been a huge part of my life. Many many times I've walked up and downstream tossing lures so I know what you mean about dropoffs, rocks/boulders, and trees. That being said, I discovered your blog on The Trek early on on your CDT last year. You have inspired me to start rebuilding my life and get outside and kick some dirt. So far I've only walked 52 miles this year, but everyone has to start somewhere. Lol. My trip is still years away, but I am AT bound in the future. A very heartfelt thank you Madison for the inspiration that I needed to wake up and make a difference in my life. Edited to say kick snow, not dirt.
I think what you are doing is freaking awesome. I've been reading your blogs on the trek for years, and I've enjoyed every 1. Thanks for sharing, I'll be following your progress!
WOW! ......... what an adventure. You did an amazing job with this video, documenting the hike. Good luck and thanks for sharing your adventure with us.
Hi, Madison! Hope all is well and that your journey is going and will continue to go smoothly! Thank you for sharing your time, thoughts, and experiences! Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay happy! Everything else is manageable! Pops
So I was doing some quick math and 200 miles a week, which is whole lot of miles week in and week out (almost 30 a day), puts you at 10,000 miles about for year. That is pretty close to your B2B Triple Crown distance, if you add in all the extra miles to town, or detours around weather or fires. Yes it gives you some slack, but not much. I think the main thing is to stay healthy! Building up the miles, so you can rest is great, but just please take care of yourself. Fresh Ground is Epic. Tell him that all Your fans are grateful for what he has been able to do! Keep on Truckin' 🥾
My partner and I really want to do a section hike on the FT this winter..50-75 miles. Gonna see what section looks good for that in the Central Florida area. Great job you guys!
I hope your rash gets sorted out! I had what looks to be the same thing on to Colorado ('22) and Tahoe Rim ('23) Trails....both times the rash hit me about a week into my hikes....both from what I believe was sun exposure despite wearing plenty of sunblock on my legs ( I was wearing shorts). Also surprising was that I had no issues/rash at all in '21 during my entire PCT hike under the same conditions (shorts and sunblock). I used Benadryl (tablets and topical) which helped a little bit, but the rash still turned into purple spots/areas under my skin. The only thing that finally made them go away for good was wearing pants. I hope this is temporary for you. Keep kicking ass! Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
I was wondering if you could use a hammock for camping on the Florida Trail? Hennessy hammock would be a good idea for you. If you have checked it out. I think you will like it.
Killin it Peg Leg. It always makes you feel good when you can stay ahead of schedule and put some miles in the bank. Sorry about your rash. I didn't notice you getting any on the CDT did you?
Any idea what the allergic reaction was from Madison? I am assuming it is the sun or exposure based on it getting worse through the day...but heck I'm no doctor. Hope it doesn't keep bugging you and you're able to keep knocking those miles down. Oh, and how do you like road walking? I have to imagine that is tough going.
Great video. I followed you on The Trek for your CDT thru-hike with 9 lives and Side Quest. Do you find it easier to Vlog or write? Virginia Beach has a Cypress Swamp in the First Landing State Park. However, we don't have alligators here to worry about. Stay safe..
@@TerryWilber ahead of schedule so far! I’ll take a slightly different route until I reach the Appalachian trail. Then follow that to Katahdin and tag Canada after that.
At 27:55 you show your sand which in your hand and the salad dressing you had in your hand looks just like a blunt wrapper, if you have ever worked at a gas station you’ll know what I mean, I had to rewind and zoom in, I thought I know she’s not doing marijuana smoke and about to walk 30miles, Sorry about your moms car accident Keep up the great work!
Vitamin deficiency or food allergy? I had a guy t-bone me and it f'd up my back and neck. He was underinsured. I had full coverage, but my insurance company was run by weasels. Get an attorney, sooner rather than later if you have pain after a car accident. The insurance company wants your premiums but they ain't going to pay out without kicking and screaming, even if you're hurt bad.
Yikes!! They're faster for short distances on land, but much more capable in water. Between the and the venomous snakes, I find the Florida Trail pretty scary.
Great video! So sorry about your reaction!

Sorry to hear about your mom. So are you on schedule so far. Do you take the ECT right into Canada?

@@IveyHarris-r3l I can! But right now I’m on the eastern continental trail, which should come up on google if you look it up.

Great job. Are the other hikers with you also going for the CYTC, or is it just you?

Did you happen to sit on any hay bales? Looks like hay mites to me. They are the devil! But if its them, you are all better by now.

Y'all are more like supported trail runners than thru hikers. It seems like you have slack packed at least half the miles you have done.
