So glad I found your channel. I've had thin ,splitting and dry nails for years, and at the age of 65 I had given up on ever having nice nails, but I've been following your advice and tips for a few months and what a transformation, thank you so much I can't praise you enough
Hello Sharon! This is so wonderful to hear! Thank you so much for writing!!
Similar with me! I am a 62 year old woman, and since menopause I cannot believe how dry my nails get. I was depressed about my sad-looking nails until I found this wonderful channel, and have learned so much. I always apply oil after washing hands, and apply it again at night, and now I can grow my nails out a bit again, and they do not look ugly and dry when short. 😀
Beautiful manicure! I love how you are constantly telling us the difference between the living skin and cuticle. I didn't know the difference before coming across your channel. Because of you I am now obsessed with nail care. 😍
Thanks for sharing!
Really cute color combo!! It’s like a jazzed up French mani… ❤
Thank you :))
I am so glad you mentioned the thing about wrapping the free edge - I always have short nails (and an extended hyponychium) so wrapping the free edge usually means I'm getting polish on my skin. If wrapping the edge isn't really a big deal on shorter nails, then I'm happily tossing that step out. 😆 Thank you for another awesome and relaxing video. ❤
Same here. I can never do it without it being very messy. Its probably easier with longer nails.
You are so welcome!
I’ve been watching you and Mr SL for a while now and I always walk away with something new. My mom would do her nails when I was a little girl and when I was in Jr High I started doing my own. I occasionally will go have a manicure but mostly I do my own. Getting a pedicure once a month is my gift to myself.
Thank you for showing us how and why you do what you do.
We’ll be in Spain next year for the FIFA Conference I’d love to stop in and get my nails done 😊
Love the description of thinking of the file as a violin bow.
Currently using Essie nail polish with a base and top coat of nailtek strengthener. I did gel for about 6 months before developing an allergy, but it did give my nails a chance to grow. I also noticed that I am much more meticulous in applying regular polish now. Following some of the same rules used for gel application helps a lot! It lasts longer and my nails are growing and overall much stronger.

Always relaxing to watch and info-packed. Thank you, Miss Anna ❤💓🫶🏻
Very pretty colour combo I love it
Beautiful manicure. So nice and gently done! And your voice is so relaxing.
Oh thank you! ☺️
Excellent Video on nail care 🎉
Thank you so much 😊
Very clean look with a hint of sparkle. Love your videos and I am always learning something from them so 🙏 😊
Thank you so much 😊
Lovely manicure, and so informative.
Fabulous ! Clean, uniform shape/length and classy pale pink colour 😍
Thank you! 😊
Miss your DD manicures, thanks for posting!
Glad you like them!
What a pretty combination! I just ordered several soft DD pinks but not Mind Your Mani, however I think they will be close enough. I’ve had Stardust a while and love it. Anna, the education you provide is invaluable, thank you! I’ve been to dozens of nail salons over the years. Even the high end ones want to cut the proximal nail fold, calling it cuticle. So frustrating. Needless to say, this is why I’m doing my own nails now. I do have damage to grow out but I’ve ordered many of the products you recommend (I used your links, thank you!) I love your videos, thank you! I never tire of watching you work and listening 💖
Thank you so much!
Oh that looks so pretty! I don't usually care for sparkle, but it's is very understated and sweet 😍
Same!!!! I have it on my toes right now and it's really pretty. Very natural looking
This manicure is really lovely, I’ll do somehow the same tomorrow !
What an information-packed session 😊 thank you for sharing. That polish is quite pretty too!
You are so welcome!
Excellent video as always, thank you Anna.
Glad you enjoyed it!
🙋🏽♀️👏🏽👏🏽Awesome job of explaining & demonstration...thanks for sharing....ky
This is very pretty, thank-you for showing this combo😊
Thank you! 😊
Well explained and neat work
Thank you! :)
Beautiful, love it
thank you :))
Looks so nice!
Thank you :)
Love the polish🌹🌹🌹
so this is a beautiful combination 😍 Love it❣️
Thank you! 🤗
Love this ! My colour 😊🎉
I was wondering, do you have any men who come to you for nail polish? I am a 66 year old male who used to chew my fingernails horribly. Many times to the point where they would bleed. A few years back I was finally able to break that terrible habit and my nails began to grow. I got to the place where they were of considerable length, not quite square but not quite rounded. Then one day I tried clear polish and loved it. I became very good at applying polish on my nails even using my non dominant hand. I have had a lot of women compliment me on how well they were done. Eventually I started trying different colors, nudes, beige, light browns. I have come to the point where I just don't feel quite right if I go more than a couple of days without it. I am married, 32 years now. It took her a little to get used to and while I won't say she loves it, although she does say that they look really nice with the clear polish on which usually includes a very sheer pink to help cover the discoloration, she is accepting and doesn't mind too much. I know it may not be extremely common but I think there are more men out there who either do or would if people didn't think it so odd. Not into tattoos or piercings but I know I will always be hooked on nail polish.
I enjoy watching your channel. They you for the advice you put out.
So pretty ❤
Beautiful!❤
Thank you! 😊❤️
Do you have a video on different types of nail hardeners? Or one just on the OPI serum you showed in this video?
Hi, I'm really enjoying your videos, they're so wonderful to watch and really informative. I was wondering about something. If I feel like not applying a colour on my nails for a little while, but don't own a transparent nail polish, apart from my base coat and my top coat, can I apply one of those? Which one might be better? (the top coat is glossier than the base coat, by the way). Or should I apply both? I'm curious, lol.
So thankful to see this video using Stardust right after I ordered it. I saw you use it - or maybe show it - in a previous video and that’s when I fell in love with it ❤. I love Dazzle Dry. The only other line I use is OPI Nature Strong, even though it isn’t nitrocellulose free, but I love the way it makes my nails feel and accessibility.
Yes, I used it on my nails in my previous manicure that I filmed. Now I have it on my toes and I love it! It just has a such nice and clean and shimmery look. I used it over Mind Your Mani like in this video.
I ordered Stardust too after the last video! Now I want Mind Your Mani!
@@TheSalonLife Anna, OPI Nature Strong has a crazy beautiful shimmer polish named “Mind-full of Glitter”. What’s so special about it is the unique color combo: delicate bits of gold glitter + delicate bits of pink glitter. I imagine Stardust having pink glitter in it! It is just done so lovely - even glitter size, not chunky and obnoxious, with very little feel to it, if at all. Also, do you have any opinion or knowledge on Retinol used in nail polish (as a strengthener, I believe)? I was looking at a polish by NailsInc - maybe it was their 45 second top coat - and it said something about having Retinol. Just thought I’d see if you have heard about it. Ty!
@TheSalonLife is it normal polish or gel?
Dazzle Dry? It's a polish, not a gel
I haven't noticed Mr. Salon Life recently, hope he is ok and you're both very well! XO!
I'm here! I'm alive! I've been a part of _most_ of the lives lately. We are both doing really well, thanks for checking in. Hugs! - MSL
Hey there! I just got the dazzle dry system. I was wondering when I can apply cuticle oil/lotion? Should I do it before or after I paint the nails? TIA 💚😊
i keep my nails quite long and i still dont find that wrapping the edge makes much of a difference! i only wear a polish for 6 days anyway (manicures on sundays and then i wait to apply a fresh colour until monday night to give them a little breather!) so maybe would notice the effect if i was trying to keep my colour around for a longer amount of time? but as it is, i also skip that step :)
Enjoyed the tips in your video! What are your thoughts on liquid/gel cuticle remover, like the one from KBShimmer?
Hello :) I have never used their cuticle remover but judging by the ingredients looks like a good, standard cuticle remover
Deionized Water, Potassium Hydroxide, Carbomer, Propylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol.

About oils, is castor oil good for nails and the skin around them? I've been getting more into taking care of my hands and your videos have been a huge help to make my silly brain to understand how to take care of nails and cuticles, etc 😊
Hello :) There are many oils way more beneficial for the skin and especially the nails than castor oil.
Here I explain more about oils ruclips.net/video/io335eWf6R4/видео.html
also more info in the description box of this video.
I had both ring fingers, thumbs and one middle finger damaged, what I’m afraid is beyond repair. Long story short, I had dip powder, very short. I went to a new place with a friend and the nail tech would not soak off the powder, he insisted on dremeling, as he was burning me I kept pulling my hand away, he snatched it back, yelled at me and clamped down hard. That was months ago and I’m left with destroyed nail plates from the apex with just a tiny bit of nail left and literally no idea what to do. I’ve tried nearly everything that I researched online. I believe that my nails are gone for good. I wish that I could find someone who would direct me , at this point I don’t care what it would cost.
EDITING my comment to add that I loved the simple, clean and classic manicure. Also, I followed the link and saw that you offer personal consolations, I happily submitted!!
Hello :). I replied but my email bounced because it says the email is over quota? Please email me if you want me to reply to a different email address :) Anna
Oh my, my heart hurt when I read this. I’m so sorry. Anna is magic, I am confident she can help you. Good luck.
@@TheSalonLife Hello Anna, I’m just checking back to see if you received my message with the alternate email address? I’m not sure what was going on with the other one. So sorry
Great video thanks. What was the colour before the sparkly coat please? I can’t find it in your product list. Thanks xxx
Hi There! I used Dazzle Dry's Mind Your Mani. Thank you for pointing out it wasn't in the description, it is now corrected :) I will leave you a link to Mind Your Mani shrsl.com/43q6d Thank you so much!
Hi Anna. Beautiful work in this video. I am after the diamond file that you use but they’re out of stock. Any idea who else would carry them? Thanks.
Hi Beverly! No idea. Do you need it for a salon use or your own use?
I saw at one Instagram account where the nail technician is using baby powder or talk to remove grease and oil from the nails. Do you ever tried it and do you recommend this for natural manicure? Big fan here, my nails are so much better since I found your channel.
This is done I believe to better "see" the cuticle and the skin fold when doing a dry manicure.
I don't recommend doing dry, e-file manicures by DIYers. If you care for your nails it's simply not necessary and you can totally destroy your nails unless you are highly trained.
The manicures like I show I do on my nails is what I recommend for DIYers (and that is how I do my own manicures)
Do you think a split like this can ever bed healed? I’ve had a split on my right thumb nail for about 12 years. I don’t recall any injuries
Sadly nails cannot heal because they are dead. I mean the nail can be conditioned so is less prone to damage. It also depends on the type of the nails.
Usually warm jojoba soaks and a solid nail care routine is the first thing I recommend. And gentle manicures:

So do your clients usually come in every week to have the product removed and refreshened?
As of lately yes :) It's a nail polish so she removes it at home and comes maybe I would say every 3 weeks
Hello I wonder if there is difference btw cutting off the dead cuticle and clearing them by this e-file when it comes to them growing back?
People are using cutting off or abrading with e-file the skin fold, not the cuticle.
I only remove the cuticle. Cuticle can't be really cut off. It's bunch of skin cells on the nail plate.

@@TheSalonLife thank you very much I love your channel btw :)
Please can I ask if the OPI Reoair Mode is actually removed when you wipe with the nail prep? Will it still have an effect on the nails if wiped off so soon? Thank you so much
Hi Erica! No, the product needs to be on the nail for 10 min and it soaks in in that time. This is what OPI recommends.
@@TheSalonLife thank you so much for your reply, that’s really helpful
Can i use repaire mode with cnd please ?x
If you want to.... the question is do you need both products?

Hi! I am looking for someone to do my manucure with your way of working, would you have any recommandations for Montréal, Canada by any chance? Thank you
Hello, not really, majority of salons are all about "look pretty at all cost". This is why I started teaching how to do your own gentle manicures.
@@TheSalonLifethat's exactly my problem. It is hard to get if the staff really understand how nail are, the health etc. I am a new mom and have little to no time, I am looking for a way to get a little me time for time to time. Thank you
❤❤❤
Hi, how are you doing today, I am ready to purchase my first Dazzle dry kit, i’ll want to start with something white grayish similar to marshmallow. I’m looking at the swatches, but I can’t find what I’m looking for. Can you please recommend me one 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Hello :) You mean Essie Marshmallow?
Yes I want something similar to marshmallow but in Dazzle dry
Can you use both hardener and repair mode simultaneously?
First question is: do you need a hardener? I would use one or the other.
@@TheSalonLife yes… my nails are exactly like your client’s nails in the video. My thumbs are fine the rest all are bendy. When I watched the video I was happy to learn I’m not alone😉
I used both. Took polish off yesterday- did a warm oil soak, today I applied OPI RM, let it soak in for 10 mins, then applied Mavala K+. I’m thinking about putting a coat of OPI nail envy on before doing a Dazzle Dry mani to see what sort of results I get.
Do you know if dazzle dry is in the Netherlands? When I click your links the site gets blocked. Don't know if it's an issue at my end. Looks like amazon doesn't ship it. How did you it?
Hello :) DD is only available in USA and Australia really. The best option is to ask someone who is coming from USA to buy it and bring it here
Thanks for the tip, that's too bad though! Hopefully they'll expand in the future.@@TheSalonLife
I know you were hinting at it but why re soft nails a problem?
When the nails are too soft they don't hold polish very well and generally they are weak and tend to peel. A good balance of flexibility and hardness is optimal.
This is why I suggested for the client to use a hardener if she wants to harden her nails a bit. It's not a life and death situation :))
@@TheSalonLife Thank you! I used to think having hard nails was what we all needed to have beautiful longer nails. I never let my nails grow out because I thought my nails weren't hard enough. I recently learned that it may be more beneficial to have softer nails vs teflon stong nails. Your simple explanation cleared up a lot for me...being somewhere in between may be best...makes sense. Over the last few months I've been doing my own manicures and keeping my hands nourished with a mix of jojoba and vitamin eye gel and my nails and hands look so much better. I also limit water exposure as much as possible. Thanks again.
Unfortunately I can't get a manicure on my nails even if a nail tech did a manicure on my nails. It looks stupid since I barely have any nails, when I do most of the nail sticks off my fingers, gets dirt under them easily, they break. If my hands and fingers were longer especially my fingers I would likely have most of my nail on the finger itself. If I ever get my nails done it's at a salon getting the acrylic nails put on. Wish my nails were mostly on my finger itself.
