i’m not a technician! i’m interested in natural nail care for myself as a form of self care on a budget. i’ve learned so much from you! thank you for what you do
I am watching to learn how to do pedicures on myself. I got a hang on how to do manicures on myself and proper nail and skincare in between by watching many of your videos. I cannot be happier with how my hands look now, huge difference. Pedicure is where I need improvement. Thank you, Anna for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us. Have a nice weekend!
Hi, I’m watching to learn how to give my partner a better pedicure and avoiding pain. Cleaning the corners is also the tricky part for me. I really appreciate that this is a dry pedicure video.
Same here! I do manis and pedis for my husband all the time. He used to cut his nails too short that I was afraid he'd get an infection, so now he let's me do it.
Yes for sure. I like to show what I do at the salon (I sometimes send these videos to clients who inquire about my services) but for sure I'm going to do a video on how I do my own pedicures without e-file. A little difficult to film but I will figure it out :))
I’m here to get some tips for DIY pedicures. In the past I’ve pretty much ignored my feet, trimming the toe nails only. I seldom if ever get pedicures or paint my toes which is completely opposite I feel of the majority of the women in America. However since starting to watch your channel I’ve started putting oils and creams on my feet and nudging back the PNF. I will say the PNF on my great toe adheres so tightly to the nail plate that it doesn’t move. If I try to push to aggressively it gets tender so I just do it gently and hope over time it improves. Anyway love your channel Anna.
Welcome to the industry :) Watching really really helps. Gigi Rouse said one "train your eye and your hand will follow" and this is why I started this channel. To share what I know so people can pick and choose and develop their own unique technique :)
I am not a professional, so I am here to learn how to best care for my own nails. They look 100% better after following your process these past few weeks. My toenails are much too square. I need to start rounding them as you are doing here. I would like to hear your recommendations for shoes. I usually wear Birkenstocks but would like more options.
I just found you and appreciate your technique. I’m trying to learn how to take care of my nails in a healthier way. I also do my mom’s nails (she’s 90 and just can’t do it herself anymore). Wish you were in my area! 😊
I watch your videos to do better manicures and pedicures for myself 😊 Can I ask what that tool is that you use to check and scrape out the corners around the nail?
Mr. Salonlife has good feet on him. Sometimes I wonder what sort of shoes I should wear my toes feel squashed shoes and I have foot pain. Don't want to develop a problem later on. Do you have any recommendations for shoes for healthy feet to protect them from bunions and such?
Barefoot shoes all the way. That’s the only type of shoes he wears (me too). I have a link in the description box. I should make a quick video about it
Watching to learn. I have a very little but thick squished toenail and corn on my smallest toe and I was wondering if a podiatrist would be the best person for that or if I could do something to care for that at home. Thanks for your videos as always
Hi Anna! Thanks for the video, as always!! I’m just learning how to take proper care of my feet and my mom’s… Highly appreciate your explanations regarding the corners because I think I was doing so wrongly 🙈 Maybe this is the reason I felt always uncomfortable in this area and not realizing why!! I’m looking forward to see your own pedicure without electric file. May I ask for your recommendations about tools, like metal file or any other tools-products for elderly feet and nails? I hope my feet nails behave as well as my hand’s nails with your advice!! ❤️😘
I will be making DIY pedi video soon. The most important thing is daily maintenance with proper cream and weekly exfoliation as needed. Then pedicure is so much easier :)
I always thought that especially my big toe has trouble with ingrown nails, but watching your videos for some time, I think it’s really just this small sharp edge that is troubling me. I always thought filing my nails very straight would help, so the edges might not cut into my skin, but now I’m wondering if I shouldn’t get this pointy nail clipper you use to get rid of these tiny little sharp bits at the edges. Your advice is great - I started with UV nails at home (not lengthening, just having a nice nail polish that stays on) and now my nails look so much better with all the knowledge about oil, cuticle, not cutting nail folds etc ❤ thank you!
I am watching to learn how to do my own nails. I have been to a pedicurist for little over a year now and the last two months my nails on different toes started to get ingrown. That is not what I pay a lot of money for :( so that is why I figured, I should learn how to do a good pedicure for myself at home.
Hello :) Check out a video on how I do my own pedicures. A very simple process. Monthly pedicure: ruclips.net/video/hcYWxq5Ht3g/видео.html How I maintain my feet between pedicures (important!) ruclips.net/video/ImZnZ0gfOLc/видео.html Also I'm adding some really good and super simple tools to my online store to be able to do an excellent DIY pedicure (couple more things coming within 1-2 weeks shhhh) www.thesalonlifeshop.com
I’m a professional nail technician. I work in a standard nail shop and I do home pedicures for the elderly through a company. I want to become an advanced medical nail technician.
Hi Anna, do you ever do long-nail manicures (on hands not feet of course)? Or do you always prefer to do short manicures to prevent onycholysis? In your opinion, is it bad to keep long nails even if they are damage free?
I was just watching for that satisfying cuticle remover and gunk digging but this has served as a genuinely helpful reminder to keep bugging my boyfriend to get his feet done by a professional. I am not gentle (I've tried, but I'm just naturally heavy-handed and a perfectionist) and don't have proper tools, disinfection, technique and his feet need *help*. For comparison, I regularly watch horror stuff and they're still the scariest things I've seen. 😂 Jokes aside, being a retail worker means his feet are callused and dry as all get out and never prioritizing taking care of himself means he never scrubs his feet super well. His cerebral palsy also means he rarely clips his fingernails let alone his toes and he can't balance as well as most because of the CP either. I've recommended he sit in the shower and scrub his feet better but...see above point about not taking care of himself. So maybe I can show him some of your videos and he'll finally stop being a goober and get some better help!
Hello! I'm a licensed cosmetologist who does manicures and pedicures, etc...I would like to know how you set up your workspace 😊. I have my own but I do not have a pedicure chair for clients yet. I just have them sit in a comfortable chair and have them lift their feet...I do have a foot rest for them. But, how would you suggest different ways to set up if I do not have a pedicure chair
Not a technician but just trying to learn how to take care of myself a bit better! Your content is super helpful, thank you! I couldn't find the nail file you used- the one I have (glass one) is too thick to get around the toenails. Which one do you sagest that wont just snap like those carboard type ones do?
I'm watching to learn about doing my own pedicures. I'm not a nail technician. I've always heard that toenails should be cut straight across, but that never works for me.
Curious why the machine vs blue cross and/or file the skin like the manicures? Im assuming it's because the dead skin is tougher and there's more of it? I ask because i feel like i have so much, lol! I'm learning so this was helpful.
Please help! My nail grows with a peaked ridge down the center (almost like a v shape) and it cracks as it grows out. I try to buff the ridge smooth but that just weakens that area. and it will split anyway. I have No idea how to fix this.
You probably can’t because there might be a permanent change in the matrix area where the nail is being made. Don’t buff it, it only weakens it as you know
@@TheSalonLife hi there. I have a fingernail like this and used a product you showed on one of your videos: OPI Repair Mode Bond Building Nail Serum. I used it as directed on the bottle. As you said, it did not fix the ridge, but my nail no longer splits once there’s the slightest hint of free edge. In fact, I just filed that nail today because it was too long for my liking. ❤

Why do salons call themselves “spa” this is not “spa-like” experience. I know you’re explaining the process, but this is exactly what they do. What is the spa part of the process? 🤷♀️
No idea. Spa usually means like delux or something. Upgraded. With masque, scrub and longer massage maybe? But yes, the spa word is overused. In Europe Spa means a facility with water treatments.
You know that there is always a conversation between me and the client. I ask for their preferences and expectations. Some people ask to leave their nails a bit longer so I do. Some ask for very short because they are into sports etc so I make them as short as safely possible.
@@TheSalonLife Thank you for explaining the product used. Your videos are informative and my home manicure is looking much better. ? How often is it safe to use gel or fluid cuticle remover, if I change polish every 5 days? Thank you!
Professional Nail Artist almost 30 yrs 😊 was taught wet pedis but definitely agree that dry you are able to better see true condition. Even his “before” feet look better than any man’s feet I’ve ever seen. And of course your finished work is always incredible. 👍🏽👏🏽🤩
Yeah, pretty perfect feet, I must say; no dryness or weirdness anywhere👍

I’m a foot care nurse. I love you videos and technique. Great job!❤
Oh wow, that is awesome. Great compliment coming from a nurse :)) Thank you!!
Me too.
I’m not a professional I just cut my husbands toenails and can now do that safely with your great advice
Hi Anna and MSL! Always enjoy watching your videos and learning how to improve my DIY manicure and pedicure skills,
Thank you for showing how to take care of the corners. I am not a professional. I like my toenails on the shorter side, but not too short.

Watching this video to learn how to do my own. Here thanks to Annie Jaffrey.

“I do that myself” “ok” 😂😂😂😂
This is so informative!!! Your videos have helped my nail health dramatically!! I can’t wait to implement these tips too

I do them like this for men and women
