These are great, I always needed more Sci-Fi Fantasy stuff because I wanted to fucus more on this animation genre :)

I'm halfway through the tutorial and you just got to the part where you created that empty so that it control's everything. I was trying to figure out how to do this with lighting bolts and failed massively. Great tutorial as always and congrats on all your new subs!

To create the effect with lighting bolts as like in a plasma ball you can try to create lightning bolts and then use shrinkwrap on vertex points to create the effect but the downside is you have to co all the lightning bolts manually

As is the nature of software, at least for me, one finds a better way of doing things after getting most or all of the way through doing a project the hard / long way. I learned how to do some thing in a better way with this tut. And sighed. Oh well, next time... thanks!

Very cool tutorial. I just completed it and I think I got very close. I have only one bit of constructive feedback. As a US citizen using the far superior Imperial system [insert laugh track here], I have set my preferences to Imperial, Inches, etc. You might want to warn viewers that the tutorial is in Metric units. I also found that even after switching over to Metric, my meshes were still not the same size as yours. My default icosphere or uv sphere were 24" and not 1m. I didn't figure that out until further into the tutorial.
Amazing tutorial as always, but when I was trying this the gaps between the particles looks wayy to smudgy. Like yours look black but mind is hazy

Im using Blender 3.4 and when I have the 2nd sphere selected for the particles I get a single particle with a X in it

hey aria if I'm rendering in evee transparent boll not looking like it should be and emission doesn't showing inside of ball
You need to set an alpha mode in material settings in shader editor for Eevee to show transparency

This is incredible as I expected, but also very frustrating. I'm just a blender noob who just have been using maya, so its not that easy to get used to the system of blender. And now watching an amazing blender pioneer making an orb! Feels like I suddenly became a caveman who is watching aliens building their spaceship.
...This is a horrible metaphor on a second thought...
Lol! I always make sure to repeat the hot keys, because that was the hardest part from switching from Maya to Blender ❤️🥰
@@AriaFaithJones Yeah also material node is actually the thing breaking my head! I know that it has a lot of potential which is literally limitless, but still my brain starts melting as soon as I see the blank of node editor! I don't even understand difference between 3D and 4D in texture node.
First off, great tutorial! But I have run into a problem which I hope you can tell me where I went wrong?
I followed the video all the way to the end with the exception of adding the human as I want to use this concept in another project. I told it to render animation but I didn't think to check on it until it was done rendering. In blender itself the particles look the same as yours but in the render I literally only have a dark glass orb and a few particles. It's almost as if the orb isn't see through. Any ideas on where I went wrong? If it helps, I'm using blender 3.3 alpha
Update, I apparently forgot to turn the "show emitter" off

I get only 1 particle when I use the particle properties.
It's because the Frame Start is set to "1". Set it to "0" and you should see the particles.
Hello Aria, I am working on a similar scenario but adding an additional animation where the orb is flying through a landscape with the camera following. I have baked the particles as suggested, and as I attempt to animate the flying motion, the particles are always left behind as if no longer attached to the emitter. Do you have any thoughts on how to solve this? Thank you in advance.

When I do an image render (EEVEE, as computer is low spec), it doesn't render the "center" sphere, all I'm left with is a dark glass orb, with some particles.
Any idea what could be wrong? Everything is enabled in the outliner to be rendered.

Mines for some reason looks like a big ball of static when I transfer over to cycles. I followed all the steps. For some reason it doesn’t look like an eclipse. Looks more like a sun

I'm running a fairly decent system but even on 5K particles it still takes a fair while to bake. Is it because my sphere is much smaller? It is about 0.1m in size.
Hi to all. This is my first try with blender and I have a problem when rendering - its all much darker then that what I have in the viewport. Any ideas?
Mine is the same way. The render viewport shows no issues but the actual render shows nothing but a dark sphere. I wonder if v3.0 changed any settings
Transparent option you need to set.

Hi, everything looks/acts right in the viewport, but when I render a single frame or try rendering the animation, the simulation disappears and its just the spheres with no textures. Been bugging me because I baked the simulation so not sure what's going on. I am using cycles.
Never mind, I needed to turn off 'show emitter'! Oops lol.

@@p0ffle the software is free. but you need a decent computer to be able to handle the load and rendering...so how much it costs depends on what computer you have and whether you need to upgrade. only you can answer how much it costs to make lol
