Seeing the food making is fun, but hearing the banter between you is the real gem. Your mom’s deadpan delivery of, “Twenty??” Priceless. What a feast!

What a meal! I've made cold plates before but with maybe potato and mac salads. I like a good bit of mustard in my potato salad. Shame people think cooking is "too much work". Once you get some skills it's easy to throw a meal together. More fun if you have someone to cook with, you two are fun to watch.

I have family in Newfoundland. My grandmother and grandfather are from there. He was a fisherman named John Tobin. She was Agnes Murphy Tobin. Also other last names. She lived to be 101 almost 2!! He had a tough life. Hard work fishing. Moved to Massachusetts. Had 2 kids there and 4 more in US.

Another wonderful video of you and your mother creating some great food and great memories. I want to ad my opinion though if possible on the current generation of family dynamics. My wife was an at home mom so did a lot of the traditional meals spending many hours working as your mom does. My daughter however works outside the home like so many others as a single income family is virtually a thing of the past these days with the cost of everything. This of course has changed the dynamics where there’s no traditional roles such as cooking, cleaning and house chores. Men now partake in these roles as you do. I think women would love to have time to prepare wonderful meals like these but just simply don’t have the time or energy as they are drained from daily life and of course kids today are involved with so many activities. I love your videos and watching your mom and dad participate. You have a wonderful cheeky relationship where you permit us to have a look inside. Keep up the great job and tell your mom we just love her :o))

Sugar is fine. Christmas is the time to over enduldge. Besides when you have the bitterness of the root vegetables, it kind of helps balance everything out. Cold plates with a good beer, and good friends, were always my favorite part of a Glace Bay Christmas. We don't do it all the way you do it, no. You Newfies love your Salt Beef, where we usually just use ham instead. But near enough for sure. This was a good video. Glad it popped up in my for you.

The cold plates look delicious! I think I'll try making some of the salads, love how they are mashed and scooped.
The best meal I had in Newfoundland was a bowl of soup. We stopped at the restaurant at Frontier Cottages where I had a vegetable soup with some kind of meat, the broth was so good. Whoever made that really knew what they were doing!
This was in 2018, I think it's under new ownership now so maybe someone different is cooking these days.

They definitely need to cut out sugar in the salads and stuffing. There's no need for the sugar. My coldplates are always tasty I use spices and never sugar in my salads and stuffing. Mom you can try and keep bad language out of video
