I think it’s absolutely amazing of Nile Rogers and Chic to cover what was basically a college side project that sampled their music and made its creators famous

I'm freaking out (pun intended) because when I went to Cancun in the year 2000 every club that I went to would play the new hit song Lady by Modjo and it's stuck with me, I loved it!!!. I was a DJ back in the day and I came back to the States and I found that song, downloaded it, and played it everywhere that I DJ'd at and made it become popular in a way I guess! I love that song so much to this day. On this day, Oct 28th I was watching a video that showed popular songs that had samples in them and It came across Chic, Soup for One, which was the sample used for Mojo. My mind is blown, I had no idea!!!! Love the fact the group sings the lyrics also to Lady in this live version.....
It's one of the select few instances of reverse tributes. Now, where's Modjo doing the "opposite" ?

Modjo sampled and used Chic's Soup For One to create Lady, Hear me Tonight. Soup For One came first.
Considering Modjo no longer tours/creates music (at least not that I know) Chic is actually doing Modjo a favor by playing their song live, exposing the song to more fans and allowing them to learn about Modjo.
More free exposure means more streams and single/album sales which means more money/royalties for Modjo. Chic playing Modjo is a good thing.

I don't like this bass player. I think Bernard Edwards is irreplaceable.
Bernard passed away in 1996. While I agree Bernard is irreplaceable, there's no way to play music live without another bass player to fill in.
If you mean Nile Rodgers (the man in white singing) he co-founded Chic alongside Bernard in the 1970's. The man's a legend in his own right. Absolutely amazing guitarist with multiple accolades and influence in the industry at large. Nile even worked with Daft Punk for their final album RAM.
