Real vanilla extract actually works well as a bug repellant and is safer than bug sprays .
I think we’re past healthy options at this point. LOL. We’re into full on bug season now and they are AGGRESSIVE.

First off, any video about the outdoors of BC is beautiful. I came across Matt and Stacy's early videos as a fellow Toyota 4x4 owner and subsequently followed their journey on the PA highway. As many, I felt like I became part of their journey and have been left wondering what I will look forward to now that they are back home (hopefully for a short while). Now to see that fellow travelers, and friends of M&S will be heading the same way has me pumped. I wish you guys all the success in your journey and the YT endeavor. One small pointer would be to let the viewer know the approximate time of the year you're travelling since it's not always obvious to us.

Wow like wow... and yikes~~~!!!! Thanks for sharing. I said to my husband Ron, "Look, that's what the mountains look like from an airplane" which I was in a few weeks ago (different mountains). It just struck me that you were taking footage from the top of this mountain and the top peaks were so close, but I saw that from an airplane. Good job on that hike, wow!!!

I'm a Canadian nomad . I go nowhere without peppermint essential oils keeps all bugs away but mosquitos. There's a white bunch looking flower weed all over Alberta BC and Yukon that you rub on you, and the mosquitos hate you . Those two things are vital the further up north ya go ... I went early early spring to the Yukon, and they were just waking up . The swarms up there 😳
I’ll pass this onto Meg. We got absolutely devoured today on our hike. It was NOT fun. We definitely need to figure out something because we’re into full on bug season now.

We had leg bands that snapped around the bottom of your pants to keep them from getting snagged on equipment when i worked in the coal mine maybe those would help to keep the bugs out. The food always looks good & what luck to be able to travel with your Mom & Dad on the ferry have a safe trip so i get to ride along on the adventure

Nice ferry, I took it Southbound 3 weeks ago. Never been to Quadra, I did stop and see my friends on Gabriola. Which is beautiful. Then took the Black Ball from Victoria to Port Angeles.
Nice! It certainly is a great ferry ride. We did the blackball a couple years ago, that was really nice as well, but it dumped rain on us the whole Olympic coastline.
@@SlowRoamers Lucky trip, only got rained on twice. The last day going home at Humbug Mountain OR, and on the Top at Boundary. I just built a big fire. Starts raining. Fine then. Got out my umbrella. Be like that. LOL

Van city Van life lives on that island is he is also lives in a van! There are about six or eight Van lifers just net geographical area alone maybe on the way back down you get Hooked up that would be a really cool night He also has a shop so if you need any repairs there is that opportunity
