That's a nice looking pack string! I don't think I've ever seen quarters slung that way, cool!

Nice animals, well trained to have bare elk quarters on their backs and just cruising along like, like falling off a log for them. 😊

Love the videos and look forward to each one. I understand the need to advertise your sponsors, but having them pop up in the middle of the screen is annoying. One of the corners of the screen would be much better.

Couldn't agree more about the pop-ups. Better yet, it'd be nice to just run the adds at the beginning or end like everyone else does.

Simply put, that was awesome! So, Guy, who is the better horseman, you or Ike?

Great video guys and thanks for sharing. What digi-scoping adaptor is on your optics? Trying to get something set up on my Nikon spotter for photos without breaking the bank. Is that the Mellow-Yellow mouth reed?

Nice elk,but in all my year,s of hunting ,iv,e never not skinned and quarted one as soon as possible and hang the meat up in tree,s.An elk even gutted will not chill out .That thick hair is there for a reason. You had plenty of daylight left,if not then spend the night over a fire.

The hide protects the horses, and the bull cooled out just fine. The meat is already all polished off and an empty freezer ready for another fall.

Jeff opening up and gutting the animal and allowing air flow that meat will cool off just fine from the inside out. That meat doesn't have to be freezing to make it keep. Meat can be spared for quite sometime if the entrails are removed within the hour and temps in the 40's. I went on a archery hunt a couple of years ago and shot a bull. I didn't know where I hit the bull because of bad lighting and lots going on. We didn't hear him crash and only found minimal blood with no arrow retrieval. I opted to let that bull lay over night. Temps were in the 40's over night. We went back the next morning and recovered the bull. The guy I was with wanted me to just cut the horns off and I just about came unglued on him. I was there for the meat and knew damn will it was just fine but too many people get worried(lazy) and want to leave the meat. That meat fed my family of 5 for a whole year and was just fine. The main reason meat spoils is not getting the animal dressed quick enough and this allows the stomach matter to leech into the meat. Hunters have been archery hunting in 90 degree weather for years and salvaging meat. To be honest cooling meat slowly is way better for it than cooling too fast. Sorry if this was lengthy but that topic is one of my pet peeves. People to quick judge if meat is bad or not and leave it. Which by the way is against the law.

Have done it a couple times during late evening hunts far from camp. Gut it, prop open the body cavity with a couple sticks, leave it over night. Bada bing bada boom, no issues.
