Renowned around the world as one of the greatest and most distinctive heavy metal vocalists of all time, Bruce Dickinson is best known as the lead singer of the iconic British band, Iron Maiden, who he joined in 1981 and who have sold well over 100 million albums. He has also become globally renowned as an author, pilot, broadcaster, brewer, businessman, sportsman, spoken-word performer, screenwriter and internationally successful solo artist.
His first solo album, Tattooed Millionaire, was released in May 1990, with its follow-up Balls To Picasso four years later (1994). It was on this second album that Dickinson first started working with guitarist Roy Z and despite a one album hiatus, he was joined again by him for all his subsequent solo studio albums - Accident Of Birth (1997), The Chemical Wedding (1998) and Tyranny Of Souls (2005).
Always on the back burner was a desire to create another solo musical project and in 2021 Dickinson finally had the opportunity to focus on that anew. He turned once more to Roy Z to work on some unfinished ideas together and that rapidly became his forthcoming seventh studio album: The Mandrake Project
The bass guitar is frickin awesome on this song. The bass player has his sound perfect. The engineer/producer bla blah mixed the bass perfectly.

Bruce is one of those guys that can do it all, sing, fly planes, etc. A very special individual.
I always find a new meaning in this song.

The show I saw from Iron in 2019 at Rock and Rio was unforgettable!! wonderful!!
...and he was ill. Kinda sore throat...He told it months later during an interview. What If he had been entirely healthy that night? Wow! He would've been killer. At Rock in Rio 2013 and 2019 he had been sick.
I know, it's only interpretation, but still...
One day, years ago, while listening to this song, I translated the lyrics into my own language (Dutch, which is not German).
At a certain point I thought: "It feels like this song is about Lady Diana!"
Let's have a look at the first 2 verses:
Who stole your heartbeat in the night? (The accident happened when it was dark outside)
The acolytes fearful in the flickering light (Diana's helpers must've been frightened by the flash lights of the paparazzi)
They hold a mirror to catch the breath from your mouth (Examining, if she was still alive)
But your breath was stolen by the wind from the south (The accident happened in France, south of the U.K.)
Another winter's tale is done (It happened in the Summer)
Your immortal lover he's gone (Her lover Dodi Al-Fayed also died in the crash)
The chalice stolen from her hand (People believe, she has been killed))
Eternal life at her command
Now all that she rules must sleep...
(I must admit, that I don't exactly understand, what the last 2 lines mean, if they are separate lines or are related, because of the word "now", which can be interpreted in two ways.
The remarkable thing: the album "Accident Of Birth" had been released about 2 months earlier!
It makes you think: could Bruce be a clairvoyant? 😉
